IMPLEMENTATION OF REDUCED VERTICAL SEPERATION MINIMA (RVSM)WITHIN SWAZILAND AIRSPACE

1. INTRODUCTION

Reduced Vertical Seperatio/1 Minima (RVSM) refers to vertical.\'cparation of aircraft by 1000ftabovc Flight V:vc/ (FL) 290. Only State RVSM approved aircraft, will be permitted to operate inRVSM airspace within the Swa:"iland Area of Re,\po/1sibility. (Mat.wpha TMA)

Ajier prior coordination with appropriate ATC centre. State Aircraft (Military, Police andCustoms) not RVSM approved will be!cleared to operate within RVSM airspace withinSwazi/and Area of ResponsiIJilit)'. two Thou,wndfoot (2000 ft) vertical separation will be appliedto such aircraft.

Implementatiol1 of RVSM within the Swa:"ilalldArea of Responsibility will occur ill accordancewith ICAO Regional aKreemellt.~.

2. IMPLEMENTATION

2.1 Effective 0001 UTe, 25'" September 2008 RVSM will be implememed within theSwaziland Area of Responsibility, between FL290 alld FlAJO. inclusive.

2.2 Commencing at the time oj switch over, FL310, FL3S0 and FL390 will change directionfrom West bound to Ea .••t boumlflig/zt/evclj·. To ensure safet)' of operations during theswitch over period, the Lise of these (3) flight levels will be .'iUspendedfor a period of two(2) hours effective from the time of switch over, to ensure t/zat those flighlj' which wereLegally operating at the flightlevds mentioned, have vacaled the level.\' and haVe!reachedand are mailflainillS the correct RVSM flight levelj', prior to tlwseflif.;ht levels beingreallocated toflights 0/'1 EAST bound headings.
