WTB introduction

WTB was ounded in Marin County,Caliornia in 1982, ueled by theneed to create durable and reliablemountain bike-specic equipment.

Back then mountain biking wasa new and burgeoning sport, andmountain bikes werent much morethan cobbled-together oddities. Theoriginal WTB crew was captivated by theexperience o riding bikes on dirt trails,and they started creating more durableand unctional components or theirown bikes. Soon, local rame builderssought to outt their bikes with WTBs

high-end components. WTB was able toturn a passion or bikes into a successulbusiness.

Today WTB is a global enterprise; ourinnovative components are used ortrail riding, transportation, recreationand elite racing across the world. Ater28 years things have changed a bit hereat WTB our little garage has morphed

HIGH GRIP DNA RUBBER COMPOUNDWTBs special sot compound (40a durometer), slowrebound rubber conorms to trail elements or maximumgrip. High Grip DNA rubber excels in gravity applicationsand provides unmatched perormance in wet conditions.

BEADFolding and aramid beads provide greater bead-seat

characteristics, while weighing in lighter than conventionalsteel beads. Folding and aramid bead tires are also easierto install. Steel beads are more economical and stronger,making them ideal or aggressive, trail riding applications.

CABLE BEADAn economical olding wire bead that provides cleanerpackaging characteristics and an easy installation.

TPITPI stands or threads per inch. This number reers tothe thread count in a tires casing. A lower TPI indicatesthat thicker threads are woven into the casing, thereoremaking it more durable; a higher TPI indicates that thinnerthreads are used, thereore making the casing lighter andmore pliable. WTBs 60 TPI, race-level tires oer supple,shock absorption qualities while remaining resistant tocuts and tears. The Super Duty casing ound on Team DHtires, by contrast, eature dual plies o tough 30 TPI casing.

SIPINGSipes are small incisions on a tires tread. Siping a knobcreates more working edges, which boosts traction invirtually any condition. Because WT Bs high-end mountainbike tires eature shallow sipes, the knobs stay rm underheavy loads and hard braking.

TIRE PRESSUREWTB recommends that tire pressure be checked beore eachride. The acceptable pressure range or mountain bike tiresis 35- to 65-psi (2.4- to 4.5-bar). Road tires must be infatedto 100- to 130-psi (7- to 9-bar). City/Trekking/Hybrid tiresmust be infated between 50- and 80-psi (3.5- to 5.5-bar). Tirepressure outside o these guidelines can result in a loss ocontrol or, at the very least, poor perormance.

SUPER TRACK DNA RUBBER COMPOUNDThis 53a durometer rubber compound providesplanted-to-the-ground traction. Super Track DNA boostscondence and improves handling in steep, looseconditions.

and ront hubs utilize two sets o sealed cartridge bearings. All

Bearing preload is easily adjustable on LaserDisc Lite hubs

through the adjustment nut and locknut.

WTB 29ER

WTB 29er rims eature a 622-millimeter/700c bead seat diameter,

and a minimum bead opening o 21-millimeters. This minimum

width is the deining element that separates 29er rims rom 700c

trekking, hybrid and road racing rims. Narrower rims are not

designed or todays wider 29er tires.

SIDEWALL WEAR INDICATORThis eatureound on Dual Duty, SX and DX series rimsis a groove

in the braking surace that, when it no longer exists, indicates that

the rim needs to be replaced due to sidewall wear rom the use

o rim brakes.

WTB RIM STRIPS

Proprietary WTB rubber rim strips are 11-millimeters in width and

are designed to compliment Saety Seal rims. We recommend

using these strips with any WTB rim, as wider rim strips can

interere with the tires bead seat.

WTB spokes are better by design. At the J-bendthe most likely

point or the average spoke to breakthese spokes measure

2.2-millimeters in cross-section. We call this proprietary eature

Swell-Bow. These thicker elbows it perectly into the hub,

providing a stier, snug it. The length between the J-bend

and the head is critical. Achieving a snug it increases strength

because stress is spread throughout the orm it.

DOUBLE BUTTING

From the 2.2-millimeter Swell-Bow, WTB spokes taper down to

2.0-millimeters, and inally measure 1.8-millimeters at the center.

From the mid-point, the spoke tapers back to 2.0-millimeters at

the thread. Butting the spoke in this ashion combats the immense

stress the spoke sees at both ends. A narrow mid-section greatly

reduces weight without compromising strength. WTB spokes can

be used with standard hub lange spoke holes.

SPOKE NIPPLES

LaserDisc Cross Country and LaserDisc Trail wheels utilize alloy

nipples to save weight over the traditional brass variety. Although

the brass nipples eatured on LaserDisc FR and LaserDisc DH
