Welcome to Peoria Academy After-School Enrichment Program

Peoria Academy After-School Enrichment Program has been established

to offer quality enrichment classes to Peoria Academy students and eligible students from the Greater Peoria community. PA After-School

Enrichment Programs are formatted to be affordable and comprehensive. A variety of courses are offered each semester based on

age and ability. This catalog contains course descriptions and registration details. Please read through this information carefully.

Our After-School Enrichment Program Registration is quick and easy on the

Peoria Academy website. Head over to Peoriaacademy.org and click on the PAAK button under the “Student Life” tab and get ready for a semester filled

with fun, creativity, and learning! Classes are filled on a first come first serve basis, so be sure to get registered online before classes fill up!

Online Registration will conveniently send you a confirmation email and bill your account appropriately. Charges will appear on your next statement. We

like to have all registrations due by the first day of class, but for your conven-ience will roll AEP admission throughout the semester. Classes will not be pro-

rated because of late registration. (Some exceptions apply.)

Refunds will not be issued for classes once the course has begun unless the les-son is canceled by Peoria Academy. Peoria Academy reserves the right to

change or cancel course offerings if deemed necessary. Participation in lessons is dependent upon student behavior. Peoria Academy reserves the right to re-move any student who demonstrates unsuitable or disruptive behavior. If a

student is removed from class, a refund will not be issued.

Payments may be made by check, credit card or auto-draft. Payments will be

Mini Monets Cost: 1 Credit + $50 Studio Fee 3yrs-Kindergarten Tuesday 3:00-4:00 Calling all junior artists! Come spend an hour every week creating art with Mrs. Schertz! We will focus our time on making fun, creative, age-appropriate art projects. We will learn how to use mediums including pastels, water colors, acrylics, and more! Sign up before class fills up! ART-ventures Cost: 1 Credit + $50 Studio Fee 1st-4th Gr. Wednesday 3:00-4:00 Join Mrs. Schertz every Wednesday afternoon for ART-ventures! In this class we will explore all art mediums, from oil pastels to charcoal, acrylic paint to ceramics! Students will bring home unique projects throughout the course and will use some unique mediums they would not otherwise use in the art classroom. Sign up today! Instructor: Jenny Schertz

Creative Space Cost: 1 Credit + $50 Studio Fee 5th-8th Grade Wednesday 4:00-5:00 Creative space is a one hour a week opportunity for middle school students to express their creativity and explore their enjoyment of art in a safe and supportive environment. In crea-tive space, students will have the freedom to choose their art mediums and subject matter, but with the guidance of Mrs. Schertz, they will learn proper techniques and experience one on one instruction and tips. Building STEAM Cost: 1 Credit + $50 Studio Fee 1st-8th Grade Tuesday 4:00-5:00 Join Mrs. Schertz for this unique class incorporating art with science, technology, engineer-ing, and math! In this course we will explore the how and why behind STEAM projects. We will unravel the secrets of the Fibonacci sequence and use it to create an amazing work of art, un-derstand how to engineer a freestanding sculpture, begin to understand the concepts of coding and incorporate it into wearable art, and at the end we will even build our own robots! Bulldog Cheerleading 1 Credit Pre K-5th Gr. Monday: 3:00-4:00 Do you have school spirit? Would you like to learn the fundamentals of cheerleading and dance? Come join Bulldog Cheerleading! Learn jumps, stunts, dance and cheers. We will perform a cheer/dance routine at the end of the semester. Go Bulldogs!!!

Bulldog Gymnastics 1 Credit Pre K-3rd Gr. Tuesday: 3:00-4:00 Come and learn the basics of tumbling! Bulldog Gymnastics is a progression-based class where skills are broken down into small steps to insure easy, skill-building success. Basketball with Mrs. Carew 1 Credit Girls 1st-5th Gr. Monday 3:00-4:00 Boys 1st-3rd Gr. Friday 3:00-4:00 Come learn the basic skills needed to play basketball! Students will learn the three fundamental skills needed in basketball: shooting, dribbling, and passing. We will hone these skills through drills, and games. Sign up today! Tae Kwon Do Cost: 1 Credit K-8th Gr. and Parents Monday: 3:00-4:00 K-8th Gr. and Parents Wednesday: 3:00-4:00 K-8th Gr. And Parents Wednesday 4:00-5:00 Tae Kwon Do teaches basic self-defense. All forms of martial arts are utilized during instruction. This course is open to both students and parents. Yoga For You! 1 Credit Pre K-3rd Gr. Wednesday: 3:00-4:00 Come and learn about yoga for kids. Yoga has many benefits. It enhances flexibility, strength, and co-ordination. In addition, it helps with concentration, calmness, focus and relaxation. We will learn poses, partner poses and group poses. Fun themes will be implemented each week. Chess 1 Credit K-8th Gr. Friday: 3:00-4:00 Chess is a classic game that develops spatial thinking and strategies to build focused con-centration. This class is geared for all levels of chess players. Beginners learn basic game rules and opening tactic moves. Intermediate and advanced players learn sophisticated combinations and strategies and advanced opening moves. Games Galore! 1 Credit JK-4th Gr. Monday 4:00-5:00 Put your game face on and join Mrs. Gianessi for some fun! We will play all kinds of games this semester! Give your brain a boost as you acquire logic and reasoning skills, improve critical thinking, and gain spatial reasoning. Join our resident Colombian, Prof. Arenas in an immersive Classe de Espanol every Thursday! This language course will promote the healthy development of both cognative and social benefits to last a lifetime! Monday: 3:30-5:00, Tuesday: 3:30-5:00, Thursday: 3:30-5:00 These guitar or banjo lessons are open to students of all levels from beginner to advanced. Basic music theory is incorporated into each lesson with an emphasis on proper technique. Both acoustic and bass guitar lessons available. *This class will be offered in half hour increments. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday: 3:00-6:00 Throughout this course, students are introduced to the piano keyboard, become acquainted with the theory behind how and why music works as it does. At the appropriate grade level, students are encouraged to participate in the IESA Solo and Ensemble Contest. Most of all, the student is encouraged to let the music they have learned flow from their heart… where true music is ex-pressed and comes to life. *This class will be offered in half hour increments. Instructor: Gloria Busman Ukulele Lessons: Individual Cost: 2 Credits Jk-8th Gr. Monday: 3:00-6:00 Wednesday AM: 7:20-8:20 In ukulele lessons, students will learn the basic methods of ukulele. Children will learn proper fingering techniques, single notes, and basic chords along with the ability to read music!
