ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN DETACHED HOUSESJune 2014

A dwelling designed in the area surrounding spoil tip in Rydułtowy, Sile-sia. The irregular deployment of houses encourages interactions be-tween inhabitants. The houses react with its surrounding making indu-strial environment a pleasant place to live.HONOURABLE MENTION RAr-2 PROJECT OF THE YEAR AWARD 2013/2014

URBAN DESIGN SIKORNIK SQUAREDecember 2014

AnAn urban design of a square located in a settlement consisting of blocks of flats. Simple and geometrical place is easy to main-tain. Furthermore it may become a social centre for the whole neighbourhood. The tile pattern was designed by analysing most popular pedestrian routes. The data was converted parametrical-ly and decided on a size of squares. The bigger intensity of foot traffic, the bigger tiles.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN HOUSES WITH SERVICE FACILITYJanuary 2015

TheThe aim of the project was to create a set of buildings located near river bank in Cieszyn, Poland. Each one is a mixed-use property serving both as a house and services such as shops, galleries or cafes. The design enables the flow of people be-tween the buildings extending the reach of town life and cre-ating an interaction between urban fabric and the river.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN HOUSES WITH SERVICE FACILITYJanuary 2015

TheThe division between work and housing was not carried out in traditio-nal way. The external shape of plan is a result of analysis of urban fabric. The consequence of unusual approach is a unique plan Inside, there is clear but unobvious structure with „y” shaped housing part be-coming a stem of the building and business units around it.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN CULTURAL CENTREJune 2015

TheThe cultural centre is located in the Three Emperors’ Corner, which is a former tripoint at the confluence of the Black and White Przemsza rivers, From 1871 to 1918, it marked the border be-tween the Russian Empire, Austria-Hungary, and the German Empire. The biggest challenge was to combine the historical heri-tage with modern approach to cultural centre dealing with cha-otic urban structure around the site.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN CULTURAL CENTREJune 2015

TheThe project contains an exhibition space, a hotel and a restau-rant. The aim was to combine the needs of various groups of users, local community and hotel guests. I took adventage of lo-cation upon the river. The result is a pleasant, nature-oriented space, which serves different purposes and can be experienced from in- and out-side.

24 HOURS COMPETITION IDEAS FORWARDNovember 2014Teamwork: Agata Filipowicz, Michalina Gerlic, Maria Czaja, Aniela Rutkowska

AA conceptual project of a temporary house for scientists working in Antarctica. I was personally involved in idea development as well as design process. The biggest challenge was to fit all the functions on a minimum surface. The shape of the building re-minds a rock sculptured by polar wind. Its shape is our response to demanding conditions and impression of breathtaking landsca-pe.

AA project of mobile school in Africa. The concept includes a flat for a teacher and open air school. In this project I was responsi-ble for idea development and involved in design process. The main part is a cubic trailer containing everything that a mobile teacher may need, This was optimised to the minimum volume. What is unique for this project is system of leaves equiped with solar panels which provide the teacher and stu-dents with power supply.

DESIGN OPEN SPACE: NARCYZMApril 2014Teamwork: Agata Filipowicz, Karolina Fonfara

AA wardrobe design. The furniture is made of ash wood. It is wrapped in a system of movable panels,. Some of them are mir-rors that multiply the reflection. This unexpected effect is our at-tempt to reinterpretate the myth of Narcissus. We created ele-gant furniture which is both functional and inevident. It may become a desirable object for design lovers who have a dose of self-irony.

PUBLIC CONSULTATION: WILCZE GARDŁO, GLIWICEMay 2015Teamwork: in cooperation with Student Scientific Organisation „AntyRAMA”

TheThe essential purpose of the workshops was to create a social development concept of „Wilcze Gardło” housing estate in Gliwi-ce. The aim was to gain knowlegde about the needs and expac-tations of inhabitants, which may be further used to provide guidelines for the urban space design and defining the problems of local community, including public space management. The ad-ditional goal was to activate the neighbourhood. I was responsible for organisation, coordination and moderation.

DESIGN WORKSHOPS A<24:COHOUSINGFebruary - March 2015

II was an organizer, coordinator and moderator during this project. We invited architecture students from universities in Poland to participate in design workshops. We also organized a debate of professionals that are involved in creating first cohousing communities in Poland. The aim of the project was to familiarise architecture students with the issue of cohouisng an make an attempt to design a space for cohousing community in an unhab-ited building in Gliwice. Not only did participants create a functional habitat butbut also designed an interaction between inhabitants and the city of Gli-wice. The workshops resulted in 6 unconventional projects, which was achieved through a deep analysis of social, financial and housing situation in Poland.

PARTICIPATION PROJECTS

I am a board member od Scientific Students Association antyRAMA. We carry out a lot of participation projects. We would like to create user-fo-cused architecture. This is why we make participation workshops in schools, districts of Gliwice and Katowice, Silesia Park and Bochnia.During my work with antyRAMA I have had a possibility to explore urban space and learn a lot about methods of urban space research. I was trained to moderate during public consultations. I also attended MediaLab work-shops where I expanded my knowledge about user experience.

Competition Design Railway Station in Goleniow July - August 2015

I was a team member during the competition for railway station with interchange. The project included both architectural and urban conception for new railway station, cultural centre and public transport facilities. I was responsible for creating plans, 3d modeling, diag3d modeling, diagrams and visualizations.

Page 21: Agata Filipowicz

Competition Design Railway Station in Goleniow July - August 2015

TheThe biggest challenge of the project was to combine all af the functions with a respect to historical structure of the city and its industrial heritage, The project focuses on the needs of whole variety of users. The plan of the building is modest but strong and distinguishable. It enables dividing the process of contruction into stages.

Page 22: Agata Filipowicz

Competition Design Railway Station in Goleniow July - August 2015

TheThe linearity of the building enables fluent connection between transport and cultural function. Also, the shape of it is deter-mined by the valuable trees growiing on the site. There was an emphasis put on best possible communication between parts of the building and the quality of public spaces.

FREEHAND DRAWING

I consider freehand drawing as one of the best ways of expres-sing my thoughts, not only architectonic conceptions, For me it is both a measure of communication but it is also my way of spending free time.

TRAVEL VOLUNTEERING

DuringDuring the summer holidays 2014 I worked as a volunteer in Old Hall community in Suffolk, England. I went there with my friends. We had a great opportunity to live in cohousing. We spent time working on the farm and observing life in a community. This was what inspired us to organize workshops for students. The issue of cohousing is not well-known in Poland, so I decided to get my personal experience. It had an impact on my attitude towards living in a living in a community and my design approach.
