Follow the steps below to connect the TWS platform to AgenaTrader:

At first, activate the API-Option on the TWS. To do this, open the Configuration menu on

the TWS, click on ‘‘API/Properties’’ and select the option ‘‘Activate ActiveX and Socket

Clients’’.

Then, open AgenaTrader, select ‘‘Account connection’’ through the menu ‘‘Tools’’ and click

on the button ‘‘Add’’.




You will see a selection dialogue box concerning the service provider. Choose your

provider and give him a unique name (for ex. CapTrader).

Now open again the dialogue box where you will now find the technical access data to the

TWS.

If AutoStart TWS is selected, you will get automatically the IB login pop-up window each

time when you try to establish a connection. Please complete the procedure by confirming

the dialogue box.




By this way, the software opens the InstrumentDowload-Escort window, where you can

load all the necessary instrument definitions and the specific mapping for TeleTrader (for

more information see chapter 3. Instruments definitions and 4. Instruments mappings).

Choose the markets for which you have a data feed subscription at Interactive

Brokers/CapTrader or that you would like to trade at IB. All instruments definitions will be

imported by clicking on the ‘‘Import’’ button.

Choose the primary data feed provider in the provider list.

1. Should you refer to the CapTrader data and you have no other data feed provider, please

choose InteractiveBrokers (CapTrader) as ‘‘DF’’, ‘‘DFBak’’ (BackUp-Data Feed) and ‘‘Broker’’.

2. Should you have an addition data feed provider, like for example ‘‘TeleTrader-Real’’,

please choose TeleTrader as ‘‘DF’’ and ‘‘DFBak’’ and InteractiveBrokers/CapTrader as

‘‘Broker’’.

3. Should your data make also reference to CapTrader, you can choose for ex. TeleTrader as

‘‘DF’’ and CapTrader as ‘‘DFBak’’ or vice versa.

Reason: if you lose for any reason the connection to your primary data feed provider while

you are trading, by this way you will be automatically redirected to the backup data feed

after a short while.

AgenaTrader uses instruments definitions to display basic information related to

instruments (for ex. tick size, base currency, stock exchange, etc.).

If you want to reload instruments definitions later on, please open Instrument-Escort and

click on the ‘‘Import’’ button.

The ‘‘Instrument Import’’ window will be displayed and the option ‘‘Select Markets and

Mappings’’ will be already selected.




Confirm this pop-up window with ‘‘OK‘‘ to open Instrument-Download-Escort.




Select the tab ‘‘Interactive Brokers‘‘ and choose the markets that you want to import.

The database mapping makes reference to data transferred to the broker/provider so that

the broker/provider can identify which symbols are required from AgenaTrader or for

which symbols orders have been set up.

For example, in the image below you can see how many different symbols are used by

various service providers to identify the currency pair EURUSD.

4. How to establish a connection

In order to establish a connection with your broker/data feed provider, click on

‘‘Main/Connections/Connect’’ and choose your provider.

If the connection status in the status bar is dark green, this means that the connection has

been successfully established. If you prefer that the connection is automatically

established when you open the application again after closing it, please modify the

properties of AgenaTrader in the menu ‘‘Tool/Preference Manager’’ and choose ‘‘Auto-Start

DataFeed and AutoStart Broker’’ in the general settings. This procedure ensures you that




you will not have to worry about establishing a connection next time when you start

AgenaTrader.
