MANUFACTURING IS CREATIVE

TODAY’S REVOLUTION IN MATERIALS-BY-DESIGN Reza SADEGHI, Chief Strategy Officer BIOVIA - Dassault Systèmes

A remarkable opportunity exists to accelerate radical and life-friendly biomaterials innovation today. To accurately model the complex material systems we desire requires sophisticated digital tools and a predictive platform that shows us what is (and will be) viable—when, how and at what cost. Core capabilities for this require process manufacturing intelligence and multi-scale, physics-based modeling/simulation. An effective in silico simulation environment can ideate new materials, test their physical properties and assess their bio-compatibility—virtually—while delivering fully-formed digital blueprints for assembly, disassembly and end-of-life recycling. These in silico methods offer an artificial breeding program for materials: a rapid and massively parallel exploration of the potential material space that empowers us to evolve targeted, adaptive solutions that match and exceed the functionality, efficiency and sustainability of living materials today. Dr. Reza Sadeghi of Dassault Systèmes BIOVIA will speak to how predictive intelligence and in silico selection can speed the development of smart biomaterials that self-assemble and self-repair with minimal energy and resource requirements while readily adapting to their specific environment and use.

VEHICLE ELECTRIFICATION: TRANSFORM YOUR MANUFACTURING OPERATIONSFred THOMAS, Global Industry Director DELMIA T&M and IE - Dassault Systèmes

Attend this session to gain greater understanding of the critical impact that vehicle electrification and autonomy trends will have on manufacturing. This presentation will explore the rapidly changing transportation market and identify key trends that are driving the critical need for manufacturing transformation within traditional automotive organizations. Core competencies of the past will no longer be of value in the future as the demand for innovative new products based on new technologies will place a priority on global manufacturing agility and flexibility. In this context, Digital Continuity as delivered by 3DEXPERIENCE Manufacturing from Dassault Systèmes will be presented emphasizing the importance of a collaborative platform that spans both virtual creation and physical execution of manufacturing models to achieving the required attributes of manufacturing agility and flexibility with the extended requirements of speed and precision. Use-case examples from Dassault Systèmes customers will be shared to highlight key presentation points.

SHIPYARD DIGITAL TRANSFORMATIONFrançois MATHIEU, Marine & Offshore Industry Solution Technical Director - Dassault Systèmes

In today’s intense competitive environment, shipbuilders must improve their manufacturing efficiency and capacity. In order to do this, they must undertake a digital transformation of their organization. Specifically, by adopting a model-based enterprise approach, shipbuilders can achieve digital continuity from concept design through manufacturing. This allows them to leverage 3D product data and adopt smart manufacturing for optimized production planning and manufacturing operations.

MANUFACTURING IN A CONFIGURED CONTEXTJohn MALLETT, WW CoE Senior Solution Consultant - Dassault Systèmes

Innovation is often associated with product design, not with manufacturing. In today’s experience economy, customers expect experiences that are tailored and personalized. This has increased product complexity and diversity in all industries. To stay ahead it is critical for companies to transition from traditional design to configured design, to invent the future, to come up with new concepts, and to virtually plan and optimize how these concepts alter the way in which products are manufactured. The creative and collaborative processes that have worked to revolutionize product design need to be leveraged in manufacturing. Change and configuration management in the design domain has significantly improved creativity - these capabilities must extend to manufacturing to bring a new level of creativity in this domain. This goes far beyond lifecycle management, it involves transforming manufacturing to unlock increased agility, improve collaboration, and increase access to more stakeholders – all in an environment that fosters innovation, allows multiple product variants to be designed and manufactured simultaneously, and accommodates unique site-specific plant layout and available resources to build products anywhere. This session will showcase how the 3DEXPERIENCE platform incorporates configuration and change management to enable digital continuity from design through manufacturing, providing full accountability, visibility and traceability across all organizations.

MANUFACTURING IS SMART

ONE STOP: 3DEXPERIENCE MARKETPLACEHubert MASSON, R&D 3DEXPERIENCE Platform User Experience Director - Dassault SystèmesMichael LU, PC CHINA Channel Marketing Manager - Dassault Systèmes

As user digital behavior in China is changing dramatically, now is the critical time to take advantage of hot digital trends such as "AI-tificial intelligence", "Big Data", and "O2O". ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING: FROM CONCEPT TO PRODUCTIONSumanth KUMAR, AP Strategic Initiative Director SIMULIA - Dassault SystèmesJean-Marc CAUZAC, Fabrication Portfolio Management Expert DELMIA - Dassault Systèmes

With continuous growth in Additive Manufacturing (AM) as newer machines, faster processes and diverse materials are being released, it is critical for companies investing in AM to justify their investment by taking concepts to production. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform from Dassault Systèmes enables companies on that journey through a portfolio of simulation-based AM apps: from functional generative design to manufacturing planning. A core segment in this journey is to address significant challenges that still exist in the reliability and predictability of the AM builds that act as barriers to part certification and a much larger potential adoption in industry. This presentation demonstrates an efficient scalable AM process simulation solution for part distortions and residual stresses with experimental validation studies. Instead of printing the component directly and checking costly whether the build is successful, the printing process can be investigated virtually in advance. An assistant panel guides users from incorporating machine parameters and print path, to setting up process simulation regardless of the AM process or material type in use. Multiscale solutions including distortion, part compensation, residual stresses and strains and microstructure, provide prediction for in-service performance and physical properties of the final product. The featured role in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is the Additive Manufacturing Researcher role and is available both as ‘on-premise’ and ‘on-cloud’ allowing users to digitally accelerate the decision making process to meet their product development needs for additive, ensuring optimal utilization of their hardware investments by reducing expensive trial-and-error print times.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT IN MANUFACTURINGGarth COLEMAN, VP Marketing ENOVIA - Dassault Systèmes

Manufacturing has a primary focus on Quality Assurance, to ensure production as per design, and to reduce acceptable deviations from the quality objective. Having analyzed critical issues, it is important to implement a continuous improvement cycle (Plan-Do-Check-Act / PDCA cycle) for all design and manufacturing processes. This incorporates the ability to analyze encountered issues, link them to the right design and manufacturing processes, establish and execute corrective and/or preventive actions, and follow up on the effectiveness of those actions through repeated assessment and analysis. The data-driven capabilities of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform connect analysis, insight, and action into a comprehensive quality management solution that embeds quality and compliance directly into product development and manufacturing planning processes. It enables organizations to take control of their global operations while continuously improving operational performance.

MANUFACTURING ANALYTICS FOR INDUSTRIAL PERFORMANCEPatrick SAMAMA, Strategy & Portfolio Management EXALEAD - Dassault Systèmes

Our experience will focus on Manufacturing Analytics to support production performance (from monitoring the performance of an assembly line down to that of a machine, including predictive KPIs) and product quality (analyzing warranty data, customer feedback, and more).

COMPLEX ASSEMBLY PRODUCTION FOR OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCEBruno DEMANGE, Industry and Roles Portfolio Director DELMIA -Dassault Systèmes

After graduating from one of the top French Engineering Schools, Bruno Demange worked at Accenture France in the Strategy & Operations Service Line during the first 10 years of his professional life. During that time, he had the opportunity to help multiple customers coming from diverse industries (Consumer Packaged Goods, Luxury Goods, Automotive, Aerospace, Building & Construction) in shaping and setting up their strategic, operational or organizational transformations. Aware of the global digital trends that were happening, he decided to join a very dynamic California Software Company called Apriso which was leading its Market in the area of Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM). From there, he successfully drove advanced transformation programs at customers in Aerospace & Defense and Automotive industry segments.
