Estas minhas apresentações mensais na agenda municipal, cujo principal propósito é o de dar a conhecer e sinalizar os eventos de maior importância que se realizam no nosso concelho a cada mês que passa, têm permitido criar um espaço de informação e divulgação sobre o rumo que temos dado à ‘nova governação local’, bem como às dinâmicas que vimos imprimindo nas mais diversas áreas, tanto as ligadas ao território, como as ligadas às pessoas e sempre ancorados na constante que jamais perderemos de vista: ‘Comigo, ninguém ficará para trás!’Contudo, tal não impede que demos também expressão às organizações e às empresas e, neste último capítulo, convém revisitar a nossa mais recente conferência de imprensa durante a qual enfatizámos a vontade e a determinação de contribuir para um Município cada vez mais interventor. nessa perspetiva, é nosso objetivo criar o que se poderia designar por um `novo Mundo de Investimentos e de Empresários’, no qual o apoio à criação de indústrias fortemente ligadas aos recursos naturais de que dispomos – como sejam o ‘mar’ ou ainda dos recursos ligados ao ‘saber’ e ao ‘conhecimento’

My monthly presentations on “agenda municipal”, whose main purpose is to point out and inform about the most important events taking place in our municipality every month, have allowed to create a space of information and disclosure about the direction we have given to the “new local governance”, as well as the dynamics we have been transmitting in the most diverse areas, both related to the territory and people, always anchored to the constant that we will never lose sight: “With me, nobody will be left behind!”Nevertheless, we would like to give also expression to the organizations and companies and, in this last subject, it is convenient to revisit our latest press conference during which we highlighted the will and determination to contribute for a Municipality increasingly intervener. In that perspective, it is our objective to create what could be designated a “New World of Investments and entrepreneurs”, in which the support for the creation of industries strongly connected to natural resources available will be always privileged areas of expertise – such as the “sea” or resources related to

produzidos pela Universidade do Algarve e que devem ser direcionados e colocados ao serviço do desenvolvimento de competências dos investidores – serão áreas de atuação sempre privilegiadas.Mas enquanto estas propostas não se transformam e ganham lastro, dar-se-á início às manifestações desportivas de Loulé Cidade Europeia do Desporto, distinguindo, desde já, a oferta cultural programada para o Cine-Teatro e, naturalmente, a animação do nosso histórico Carnaval. na verdade, ano após ano, o Carnaval de Loulé, que desponta no nosso calendário por estas alturas do Inverno, reforça o significado especial que tem para os louletanos e que lhe granjeou já o estatuto de grande festa popular que, apesar das suas largas tradições, soube adaptar-se e ir inovando ao longo de mais de um século de existência. É já nos dias 14,15 e 17 de fevereiro que Loulé convida todos quantos se queiram associar à alegria e à boa disposição e esquecer os problemas e dificuldades da vida, a viver momentos de folia por um tempo que, porque breve, é sempre de aproveitar. Por isso, desejo um Bom Carnaval a todos!

In fact, year by year, the Carnival of Loulé, which appears in our calendar at this time of winter, reinforces the special significance for the “louletanos” and acquired the status of great popular celebration that, despite its long traditions, learned to adapt and innovate throughout more than a century of existence. It will already take place on 14th, 15th and 17th February and Loulé invites all those who want to associate with the fun and the good disposition, to forget the problems and difficulties of life, to live times of revelry for a while and because it is brief, we have always to take advantage of these moments. Therefore, I wish you all a Good Carnival!

no Concelho de Loulé o Carnaval é celebrado efusivamente, não só na cidade de Loulé, a sua catedral por excelência, mas também nas freguesias de Quarteira e Alte. O seu corso de três dias, de realização centenária, atrai à Avenida José da Costa Mealha um mar de foliões que, oriundos do país inteiro e no cumprir de uma antiga tradição, transmitem à cidade um ambiente festivo. Famoso pelo desfile dos carros alegóricos, pela “Batalha das Flores” e pelos seus grupos de samba, o Carnaval de Loulé constituiu, por si só, um cartaz turístico de eleição, pelas características locais de que faz gala.no ano em que Loulé é um dos principais palcos desportivos da Europa, o mais antigo corso carnavalesco do país sai para a rua com o tema Loulé, Cidade Europeia do Desporto e Capital da Tradição Carnavalesca.Também em Alte e Quarteira o Carnaval sai para a rua. Em Alte, num dos corsos mais tradicionais do interior, o desfile tem lugar nos dias 15 e 17 de fevereiro, enquanto que no litoral, em Quarteira, o desfile realiza-se nos dias 14, 15 e 17. nesta cidade, na Quarta--Feira de Cinzas, dia 18, decorre o Enterro do Entrudo.Estão previstas ainda outras atividades, nomeadamente de carácter desportivo como o Torneio Internacional de vela de Carnaval, prestigiado evento que leva à Marina de vilamoura milhares de velejadores. neste Tema de Capa, o destaque vai uma vez mais para o Carnaval.

In the Municipality of Loulé Carnival is celebrated enthusiastically, not only in the city center, its cathedral par excellence, but also in the civil parishes of Quarteira and Alte. The parades during three days of centennial achievement attract to Avenida José da Costa Mealha crowds of revelers, coming from all over the country complying with an ancient tradition, and transmitting to the city a festive atmosphere. Famous for its parade floats, the “Batalha das Flores” (Flower Battle) and its samba groups, the Carnival of Loulé is, in itself, a tourist attraction of election, for the local characteristics which it features.In a year in which Loulé is the major sports spot in europe, the oldest carnival parade in the country will be out on the streets with the theme “Loulé, european City of Sport and Capital of Traditional Carnival”.In Alte and Quarteira the Carnival will also be out on the street. At Alte, one of the most traditional Corsican of the interior, the parade will take place on February 15 and 17, whereas on the coast, at Quarteira, the parade will be on the 14th, 15th and 17th. In this last one, on Ash Wednesday, 18th, it’ll be the Burial of Carnival.Other activities, such as sports are also included in this period’s agenda: the International Carnival Sailing Tournament, prestigious event, will lead to Vilamoura Marina thousands of boaters.Once again the Cover theme is focused on Carnival.

Comissariada por Constança Lago Brás, a exposição apresenta uma mostra de jogos tradicionais da sua coleção particular, recolhida ao longo de mais de 20 anos, essencialmente no Algarve e em Goa. Segundo Constança Lago Brás, etnóloga e doutorada em Ciências Sociais e Humanas, esta exposição é uma espécie de homenagem a todas as crianças desfavorecidas, de muitas partes do mundo que, como a própria presenciou, “não têm tempo para brincar porque começam a trabalhar desde muito novas”. Esta mostra de jogos pretende, ainda, apelar para os direitos das crianças, “nunca é demais chamar a atenção para a relevância de brincar, jogar, na idade própria”. A tudo isto acresce a importância de transmitir a herança cultural e, com esta exposição, a autora pretende “dar aos mais velhos o poder de mestres depositários do saber, relembrando as memórias lúdicas que, se não forem registadas, poderão levar a perda da nossa identidade”

Curated by Constança Lago Brás, the exhibition presents a display of traditional games from her private collection, gathered over more than 20 years, mainly in the Algarve and Goa.According to Constança Lago Brás, ethnologist and with a PhD in Social and Human Sciences, this exhibition is a kind of tribute to all disadvantaged children from many parts of the world, as she herself witnessed: “they have no time to play because they start working at a very early age”. Furthermore, this exhibition also intends to appeal to children’s rights, “ it never hurts to call attention upon the importance of playing: playing, at the right age”. To all this is added the importance of conveying the cultural heritage and, with this exhibition, the author still intends to “give the elder, power as Master Keepers of knowledge, for these memories, if not registered, may lead to the loss of our identity”.



Há perto de 16 meses que José Bandeira vem fotografando o antigo bairro do Dafundo, às portas de Lisboa. Definida uma geografia, Bandeira começou a alimentar a ideia de fazer posar alguns dos residentes como personagens da Ilíada e do Ciclo Épico. A ideia viria a passar a projeto de facto quando a professora Adriana nogueira, da Universidade do Algarve, sugeriu ao autor que aquele poderia ter cabimento no congresso “Imagines Iv”, dedicado ao Mediterrâneo Antigo e o seu papel nas Artes visuais e Performativas. Durante os meses de Julho e Agosto, Bandeira reuniu uma seleção de 24 imagens, tantas quantos os cantos da Ilíada: é esse grupo de fotografias que agora constitui a exposição “nem Gregos nem Troianos”.Org. For nearly 16 months José Bandeira has been photographing the old neighborhood of Dafundo, close to Lisbon. The setting chosen, José Bandeira began to model the idea of using some of the residents as characters of the Iliad and the epic Cycle. The idea became a fact when teacher Adriana Nogueira, from Universidade do Algarve, suggested to the author that he could join in the Congress “Imagines IV”, dedicated to the Ancient Mediterranean and its role in the Visual and Performing Arts. During the months of July and August, Bandeira put together a selection of 24 images (as many as the books of the Iliad) being this collection of pictures the one which now composes the exhibition: “Neither Greeks nor Trojans”.Org: Universidade do Algarve and Municipality of Loulé

Este livro de Maria João Costa fala-nos de relatos emocionados das gentes da serra, de uma população envelhecida, por vezes esquecida pelo poder e até pela sociedade e é, simultaneamente, um apelo, um pedido de atenção e de um olhar especial, para que um raio de sol e de esperança torne as suas vidas menos solitárias e menos tristes. “O TESTEMUnHO LInGUíSTICO DAS ATAS DE vEREAÇõES MEDIEvAIS DE LOULÉ” As atas mais antigas das vereações de Loulé são um precioso contributo para o estudo da história da língua portuguesa. A época que abarcam, de finais do século XIv a finais do Xv, constitui-se como um período de mudança linguística que culminará com a transformação do português medieval no português clássico. Trata-se de fontes primárias que veiculam o registo escrito da época, mas que, pela sua natureza documental, localizada espacial e temporalmente, nos revelam também aspetos dos falares dos seus escrivães, nem todos locais.Maria Alice Ribeiro de Sá Teixeira Fernandes é mestre em Linguística Portuguesa Histórica, encontrando-se a finalizar a sua dissertação de doutoramento sobre a formação histórica do português do sul. Professora adjunta da Escola Superior de Educação e Comunicação da Universidade do Algarve, leciona língua e linguística portuguesa, nos cursos de licenciatura e de mestrado, e dedica-se à investigação em história da língua, dialetologia histórica e toponímia, de que se destacam as seguintes publicações relativas a aspetos linguísticos da região.

“THe LINGUISTIC TeSTIMONy OF THe MeDIeVAL MINUTeS OF LOULÉ”The oldest minutes of Loulé are a valuable contribution to the study of the history of the Portuguese language. The time spanning from the late fourteenth century to the late fifteenth, is a period of language change which will culminate with the transformation of medieval Portuguese into classic. These are primary sources which convey the written records of a time, but which, for their documentary nature, located in space and time, also reveal the aspects of the dialects of their scribes, not all locals. Maria Alice Ribeiro de Sá Fernandes Teixeira is master in Historical Portuguese Linguistics, presently finalizing her doctoral dissertation on the historical formation of the southern Portuguese. Associate professor at escola Superior de educação e Comunicação da Universidade do Algarve, she teaches Portuguese language and linguistics in undergraduate and masters courses, as well as being dedicated to research of language history, historical dialectology and place names, which are highlighted in the following publications on the linguistic aspects of the region.

This openness will increase the liberty, the possibilities and solutions of the 21st century municipality, towards the composition of territories-network with more variable geometry. We will have thus a municipality “without borders” and more cosmopolitan, more interactive with the citizens, with more green economy and blue economy, more creative and cultural and less fiscal and more contractual in the financial plan. In the year that Loulé is one of the major sporting stages in europe, the oldest Carnival parade in the country comes out in the street with the theme Loulé, european City of Sport and Capital of Carnival Tradition.On 14th, 15th and 17th February, from 03:00 p.m., 14 floats will parade through the Av. José da Costa Mealha, in a colourful show, music and entertainment and it will have the social, political and sporting satire, the main brand image of the Carnival of Loulé. The figures and themes that make the current news are present in what is one of the main tourism posters in the Algarve region during the low season.The media arrest of José Sócrates, the controversy due to the placement of teachers in this school year and the statements by the Minister of education Nuno Crato, the struggle for leadership of the Socialist Party or the austerity measures imposed by the Government are themes that are included in the agenda of this Carnival.Naturally, the “King” Ronaldo who was awarded with his third Golden Ball deserved a special mention by the Organization of the Carnival of Loulé.

Quarteira revive mais uma vez os festejos carnavalescos que animam durante alguns dias a marginal da cidade.Com um programa recheado de surpresas, este carnaval é um importante cartaz turístico, movimentando muitos cidadãos nacionais e estrangeiros. Este ano o desfile contará com 14 carros alegóricos, representando as diversas associações e clubes da freguesia, os temas serão escolhidos pelos próprios grupos e podem ir desde a sátira política, até alusões directas às próprias agremiações envolvidas no corso.

Throughout some days, Quarteira revives once again the Carnival festivities that entertain the shore of the city.With a program full of surprises, this Carnival is an important tourism poster, moving many national and foreign citizens.This year’s parade will have 14 floats, representing the various associations and clubs in the parish. The themes will be chosen by the groups and may range from a political satire to direct allusions to their affiliations involved in the parade.

O Carnaval de Alte é uma referência a nível regional de entre os eventos comemorativos da quadra carnavalesca. Trata-se de um Carnaval de cariz tradicional, pois toda a confecção e elaboração dos carros alegóricos e grupos de foliões são, exclusivamente, feitos pelos grupos participantes, sem recurso a empresas especializadas na matéria. Este facto faz com que cada ano haja coisas novas, diferentes, onde a imaginação e criatividade das pessoas da terra são o factor que determina a originalidade do Carnaval de Alte.Todos os anos este Carnaval tem apresentado uma grande qualidade e originalidade nos temas apresentados. Este ano conta com a participação de 6 carros alegóricos e 6 grupos de foliões. O desfile de Carnaval realiza-se no Domingo e Terça-feira entre as 15h00 e as 18h00 horas. à noite, pelas 21h30 horas, há bailes de Carnaval no salão da Casa do Povo de Alte. Este ano, haverá no corso, a atuação de Hassan júnior o cantor moçambicano da atualidade.

The Carnival of Alte is a regional reference among the celebration events of the Carnival season. It is a traditional Carnival, because all the fabrication and preparation of the floats and groups of revellers are exclusively made by the participating groups, without recourse to specialized companies in the field. As a result, each year there is something new, different, where the imagination and creativity of the local people are the factor that determines the Carnival of Alte’s originality.every year this Carnival has demonstrated a great quality and originality on the themes presented. This year it has the participation of 6 floats and 6 groups of revellers. The Carnival parade takes place on Sunday and Tuesday from 03:00 p.m. to 06:00 p.m. At night, at 9:30 p.m., the Carnival balls will be taken place in the ballroom of the Casa do Povo de Alte. This year, Hassan Júnior, a Mozambican current singer, will perform in the parade.

O Estádio Algarve recebe este ano mais uma edição do Torneio “The Atlantic Cup”, evento promovido pelo antigo futebolista Stefan Schwarz e pela Sporting Events Limited, com o apoio da autarquia de Loulé.Este ano irão disputar o troféu FC kobenhavn (Dinamarca), FC Midtjylland (Dinamarca), Brondby (Dinamarca), IFk Goteborg (Suécia), Orebro (Suécia), Dinamo Moscovo (Rússia), Fk Jablonec (Rep.Checa) e Fk Mladá Boleslav (Rep.Checa).“The Atlantic Cup 2015” será um torneio por grupos, onde cada equipa irá disputar três jogos. As duas equipas com o maior número de pontos serão apuradas para a final, a realizar dia 07 de Fevereiro, seguindo-se a entrega da taça ao vencedor do torneio “The Atlantic Cup 2015”.

Once again this year the Algarve Stadium will be hosting another edition of the Tournament “The Atlantic Cup”, an event promoted by the former football- player Stefan Schwarz and Sporting events Limited, with the support of the Municipality of Loulé.This year the trophy will be disputed amongst the FC Kobenhavn (Denmark), FC Midtjylland (Denmark), Brondby (Denmark), IFK Goteborg (Sweden), Orebro (Sweden), Dynamo Moscow (Russia), FK Jablonec (Rep.Checa) and FK Mladá Boleslav (Rep.Checa) teams.“The Atlantic Cup 2015” will be a tournament for groups, where each team will play three games. The two teams with the most points will be qualified for the final to be held on February 07, followed by the handing of the cup to the winning team.

nasceu a 01 de outubro de 1980 pelas mãos dos seus 50 sócios fundadores. Apesar da sua designação, Grupo Desportivo das Barreiras Brancas, as primeiras instalações, arrendadas, estavam localizadas no Sítio de Betunes, onde a coletividade funcionou durante, aproximadamente, uma década. Anos mais tarde, em 1995, mais precisamente, 23 de setembro de 1995, com o esforço, a dedicação, e porque não, a paixão dos seus sócios, amigos e simpatizantes, e com o apoio da autarquia, junta de freguesia e empresas locais, foram então abertas as portas daquela que ainda hoje é a bonita sede do Grupo Desportivo das Barreiras Brancas, na terra que lhe deu nome. Do Futebol das camadas jovens à Petanca, da Malha na Laje às Provas Equestres, do Snooker à ginástica/dança, da Sueca aos veteranos do Futebol 11… e de tantas outras modalidades se escreveu e continua a escrever a história do GDBB. Mas nem só de desporto se faz o GDBB, a componente social e cultural constitui também um marco importante na vida da coletividade, quem não recorda as animadas matinés, os atuais bailes de sábado à noite, a noite de fados, as charolas ou as festas de verão.

The Sports Group of Barreiras Brancas was established on October 1, 1980 through the effort of its 50 founding members.Despite its name, this Sports Group, was first installed in leased facilities at Betunes and hereby stayed for approximately a decade.years later, in 1995, more precisely, on September 23, 1995, with the effort, dedication, and why not mention the passion of its members, friends and supporters, and also with the support of the municipality, civil parish council and local tradesmen was when the doors of what today are the beautiful headquarters of the Sports Club of Barreiras Brancas in the land that gave it its name were opened. Junior Football, Petanque, “Malha na Laje” (mesh on slab), Snooker, gymnastics/ dance, card games, Veterans of Football 11 ... and so many other modalities are written on this Sports Groups’ history.But not only of sport does this group live by: the social and cultural components are also important aspects in this community. Who does not remember the enjoyable matinees, the Saturday night dances, the fado evenings, the “Charolas” or the Summer parties?

In a month in which another edition of the Bike Tour of the Algarve will be held, we recall the name of a national and international cycling icon: Joaquim Agostinho.Born in Brejenjas (Torres Vedras) on April 7, 1943, Joaquim Francisco Augustinho distinguished himself as a major world cyclist, having made a brilliant career in this sport. Winner of the Tour of Portugal three times, he stood out in the Tour of France, where he reached the podium in 1978 and 1979 in the Tour of Spain (2nd in 1974) and in important competitions where he was always a fair winner.In 1984, while leading the Tour of the Algarve, a dog crossed his way, precisely in Quarteira, causing him to fall and fracture his skull. His condition got worse and worse and, after having remained ten days in a coma, he died on May 10 of the same year; the one who would be considered one of the best Portuguese cyclists of all times. Today he is remembered with deep longing throughout the country and his name is perpetuated in place names of the municipality of Loulé, where cycling has always had great popular support.

no mês em que se realiza mais uma edição da volta ao Algarve em Bicicleta, trazemos à memória o nome de um ícone do ciclismo nacional e internacional: Joaquim Agostinho.natural de Brejenjas (Torres vedras), onde nasceu a 7 de Abril de 1943, Joaquim Francisco Agostinho distinguiu-se como um grande ciclista mundial, tendo feito uma carreira brilhante nesta modalidade desportiva. vencedor da volta a Portugal por três vezes, destacou-se na volta a Franca, onde atingiu o pódio em 1978 e 1979, na volta a Espanha (2º lugar em 1974) e em grandes etapas míticas onde foi um justo vencedor.Em 1984, quando liderava a volta ao Algarve, um cão atravessou-se no seu caminho, precisamente em Quarteira, e foi vítima de uma queda que lhe provocou uma fractura craniana. O seu estado de saúde agravou-se e, depois de ter permanecido dez dias em coma, faleceu a 10 de Maio desse ano aquele que haveria de ser considerado um dos melhores ciclistas portugueses de todos os tempos. Hoje é recordado com profunda saudade por todo o País e o seu nome está perpetuado na toponímia do concelho de Loulé, onde o ciclismo teve sempre grande adesão popular.


RURALIDADESRURAL AFFAIRS

Há aldeias do interior que convidam a passeios pedestres e cativam o turismo de natureza. na nave do Barão, a Lagoa da nave é um verdadeiro “monumento natural” do concelho de Loulé. Trata-se de um imenso vale, onde se forma uma lagoa temporária digna de observação pelas suas características únicas. à volta abundam os vinhedos, os olivais e os amendoais, que beneficiam da fertilidade dos terrenos. Junto ao poço da Lagoa foi construído um parque de merendas próprio para convívios. Aqui comemorava-se o 1º de Maio, realizavam-se jogos tradicionais e, outrora, o poço abastecia toda a aldeia, cujas pessoas vinham buscar água montadas nos seus burros. Toda a nave do Barão é uma zona rural muito apreciada pelos turistas que visitam o interior e pelo vinho que se produz na localidade.

There are villages in the countryside that invite to hike and captivate the nature tourism. In Nave do Barão, Lagoa da Nave is a real “natural monument” of the municipality of Loulé. It is an immense valley, where there is a temporary lagoon, remarkable for its unique characteristics. Around it, the vineyards, the olive groves and the almond trees abound, benefiting the fertility of the soil. Close to the well of Lagoa, a picnic park was built, suitable for gatherings. The May Day used to be celebrated here, where the traditional games were played and, formerly, the well supplied the entire village, whose people came for water mounted on their donkeys. Nave do Barão is a rural place very appreciated by tourists who visit the countryside and for the wine produced in the locality.
