Enterprises must learn how to adapt quickly to changing technology and

economic conditions or they will become extinct, no matter their size, strength or

outstanding ability. Companies that understand the urgency to move and

adapt faster and change their ways of working will succeed. Those that don't,

will struggle or simply go out of business. The business world is littered with iconic

market leaders who zzled out because they couldn't adapt to new business

models and technology innovations ahead of their competitors.

Digital transformations are changing the world, and in order to survive, enterprises must learn to adapt quickly. Even businesses that don't consider themselves Information Technology (IT) or software companies, professional services, nancial services, manufacturers, healthcare institutions, government agencies and more, are now all highly dependent on their ability to produce new digital products and services.

The introduction of technology into every facet of business has necessitated the need to change cooperate culture and adopt new ways of working that will bring the needed organisational growth and survival. Agile practices and methodologies have become relevant to most organisations, and has been adopted to navigate digital transformation challenges and drive their business forward.

The agile approach to innovation and software development initially gained popularity in the technology sector but has since been adopted by a wide range of industries. As the name implies, agile emphasises speed and exibility, along with a strong customer focus. This growing recognition of its transformational benet, made it a unique business model to adopt at the enterprise level for efcient anticipation and response to industry evolution and economic conditions. The move to an agile operating model is tough, most organisations still face unique challenges adopting agile as an operating model and new way of working.

LITT has been researching into various frameworks that can help with addressing these challenges and discovered the positive business outcomes organisations around the world are achieving from adopting the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®). Embedding this framework into your organisation will improve its processes, allow for easy adoption of new technologies and increase innovation.

ORGANISATIONS THAT USE SAFe

LITT is a rm that provides large scale agile enterprise transformation and consulting services to our clients that enables them to adjust to and manage the rapidly changing enterprise demands that most organisations are confronted with today. LITT teaches and leverages Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming (XP), and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) while also coaching our clients in effective DevOps processes to increase the ow of value within the organisation.

Whilst many of the challenges that different organisations face in implementing Agile are often the same, the solutions to those challenges are like the organisations themselves, always unique. Moreover, organisations and circumstances change so what is the best solution today is unlikely to be the best solution tomorrow. With this in mind, the LITT approach emphasises, above all else, the importance of continuous evolutionary improvement.

We understand that what is right for one organisation or project is not necessarily right for another, and so LITT will help you select, tailor, dene and implement the best Lean and Agile approach for your business circumstances. This will be achieved using the following steps; 1. Strategy and Organisational Agile Leadership2. Business Analysis and Agile Pilot 3. Scaling Agile and SAFe® Training 4. Coaching and Operational Excellence

It is recommended that services will be provided in the four steps stated, as and when value is delivered, your organisation will decide to move to the next stage of the implementation road map. LITT will train staff of your organisation as SAFe® Consultants who will guide the implementation process.

STRATEGY AND ORGANISATIONAL AGILE LEADERSHIP3.1

C O R P O R A T E P A C K A G E

w w w . l e a n i c o n t e c h n o l o g y . c o m 8

Successful agile transformations need strong and aligned leadership from the

top, we would train and work with the leadership team to understand and

support with the delivery of the Agile Transformation. The Balance Score Card

and Target Operating Model (TOM) will be used to support the delivery of

operational excellence and new initiatives using the Scaled Agile Framework

and best practices that enable efciency. Where the organisation has an

existing strategy, we will provide guidance on the organisations strategy and

work with the Leadership team to implement the strategic initiatives using the

Scaled Agile Framework.

The approval of the framework by management team will then allow for further

analysis of the business and specic dates will be proposed for the training of

various teams within the organisation. The dates for any other meetings and

workshops will be agreed subject to the availability of management and the

wider team within the organisation.

BUSINESS ANALYSIS AND AGILE PILOT 3.2

C O R P O R A T E P A C K A G E

w w w . l e a n i c o n t e c h n o l o g y . c o m 9

Our business analysts will identify business needs and best approach for smooth organisation agile journey, in addition identify where agile way of working can have veriable impacts. The purpose of a pilot is to demonstrate the value of agile ways of working through tangible business outcomes.

LITT's organisational transformation consultants will experiment series of agile pilots involving multiple teams to test the broader elements of enterprise agility. We will build an Organisation Lean Agile Centre of Excellence team to draw a roadmap and keep the teams focused on achieving strategic outcomes. The roadmap of activities will embed process change, mindset change and cultural change. The following roles are recommended and existing staff will be trained to act effectively in these roles;

· Program Lead · Scrum Master · Product Owner · Business Analyst.

LITT designs and develops courses, and can make business-specic additions according to the needs of your staff and organisation. Our experienced consultants provide corporate clients with tailored solutions that help their businesses become more efcient and protable. It's recommended that this initial consultation phase should last for a maximum of 3 months after which progress would be evaluated considering the objectives delivered to determine the next steps of delivering the rst Value Stream.

Scaling beyond a few pilots is where most agile transformations fail. It requires recognition from leadership that scale-up will require a strategic, structural, process, people and technology mind-set shift, and a signicant portion of key leaders' time, as well as willingness to role model new mind-sets and behaviors will be very important. After the leadership team has undergone training, the next step will be to work with management and the wider team to manage agile at scale to deliver the Value Stream. The following training will be provided to the various teams within the organisation; 1. Leading SAFe® 2. SAFe® Scrum Master 3. SAFe® Product Owner/ Product Manager 4. SAFe® for TeamsThe strategy in achieving the objectives would include, but not be limited to, the following activities:

Ÿ Agile Cell Deployment Across Enterprise:An organisation can't pilot its way to enterprise agility. Thus, we will build more agile teams and work with management to facilitate resources and appropriate workspace required for successful and sustainable independent team building, nurture and collaboration

Ÿ Spine Transformation:The backbone governs how decisions get made; how people, budgets and capital get deployed; and how risk gets managed. Scaling agile in an organisation to operating model requires that this backbone be transformed. Thus, our consultants will work with management to ensure agile new ways of working are aligned and supported with broader organisational philosophies (processes, systems, and even beliefs and values).

Ÿ Agile Capacity Building:Scaling an agile operating model requires new skills, behaviors and mind-sets across the organisation. Most organisations require existing staff to take on these new roles or responsibilities, and as such, need a way to build new skills and capabilities. Whichever way, our agile trainers will develop and certify agile coaches within the organisation to ensure sustainable progress in the organisations agile journey and also, create an enabling environment for continuous learning and improvement across the organisation.

Ÿ Culture and Change Management A culture and change team is an essential coordinating element of an agile transformation. But it is not a traditional project-management ofce; rather, the .

emphasis should be on enabling the other transformation elements, helping to

remove impediments and catalyzing culture change. The importance of

investing in culture and change on the journey to agility cannot be overstated.

Agile is, above all, a mind-set, without the right mind-set, all other parts of the

agile operating system can be in place, and yet companies will see few benets.

Consequently, our consultants will help leaders and teams have a strong agile

mind-set for easy acceptance of agile way of working.

Coaching and operational excellence can be initiated after a successful

implementation of Agile transformation. The following are some of the key

criteria that will be used to assess the successful delivery of the of the

transformation;

Success Criteria: Sign-off by management on agreed Value Stream and Agile Release Train Ÿ The various functions within the organisation accept and utilise the new

structure and ways of working

Ÿ People are focused beyond merely getting something working towards getting it working to a degree previously designated which constitutes success. (It's not just running, it's running the way it should be running)

Ÿ There is a group approval, and a lack of cynicism; the programs show multiple sign-offs from diverse team members

Ÿ Meeting and discussions clearly reveal that others were included and valued in the decision making process, and that such inclusion was mandatory for success.

Delivering organisational change initiatives requires stable running of operational activities. SAFe® ensures that stakeholders in an organisation are focused on delivering value to the customer. The customer is identied in the value stream, the teams in the organisation are trained to collaboratively use new ways of working that efciently produce outcomes. This will be achieved through coaching by a LITT consultant in order to guarantee operational excellence.
