Version History

This document is intended to make EZChrom Elite administrators aware of new changes, updates or new features with this version so appropriate plans or training can be executed.

Revision 2.20 Build 14 (Agilent 490 Micro GC driver)

Notes

-Method created with older Micro GC drivers on older EZChrom and CP-Maitre Elite (Varian split-off of EZChrom 2.83) can still be opened.

-Driver is fully tested with Windows XP SP3

- Extension Box is no longer available and is replaced by basic extension board on which has the same capabilities as the extension.

- The RS232 option is only available for downloading IP addresses to the Agilent 490 Micro GC.

-The driver should work on all EZChrom versions, however the included export option (EliteExport) to export data to the userlinks Mlink32, IOControl32 and PCI1000Com only export s data from EZChrom Elite 3.3.2, 3.3.2 SP1, 3.3.2 SP2.

-To make use of the export option, make sure to download the EZChrom Automation interface, for this is required to work with the export option.

Known Issues

Issue Context sensitive helpfile doesnt work for the field Setup Ethernet Connection

Workaround Close the Setup Ethernet Connection screen press F1 go to the content Tab and select Configuration Setup -> Setup Ethernet Connection or type Setup Ethernet Connection in the index and search field of respectively in the index or search tab

Issue When installing the Agilent 490 Micro GC driver over a CP-4900 driver in rare cases it can happen that the name Varian CP-4900 or an old CP-4900 logo remains persistent in the EZChrom configuration screen.

Workaround Although this occurrence will not influence the performance of the driver, it can be resolved by creating a new EZChrom instrument and remove the old one. Make sure to make a note of the information in the user settings tab and automation tab before removing the instrument (print configuration option).

Issue When opening the configuration of the Agilent 490 Micro GC EZChrom instrument, the default screen that shows up is the Automation Tab. The default screen should be the Hardware Tab.

Workaround Click on the Hardware Tab

New features

-Find GCs on Net can now display up to 100 instruments on the net.

-The driver now identifies the type of instrument: Agilent 490 Micro GC, 490-GC, CP-4900, as shown in the Instrument type field in the info Tab of the configuration.

-Added support for DMD channel

Bug fixes

Issue- Find GCs on Net did not work anymore with newer instruments

Workaround - Dependency RLPserver.dll is updated.

Issue- From MPU firmware version 2.00 and up, the build number can contain up to 5 digits. Only 3 digits where displayed.

Workaround Firmware version and build numbers from old and new firmware versions are now correctly displayed

Revision 1.20 Build 8 (CP-4900 driver)

Notes

-In this driver Serial mode is no longer supported by Varian, Inc. A message box will pop up when selecting the serial mode.

New features

-Added support for extension box to supply more relays for Soleniods and event switching

All CP-4900s in and outputs redirected to this box,

8 extra relays that can be used for sampling and/or alarming.

- Time-event table for switching the two onboard relays.

- Added support for DMD detector.

Bugfixes

-Fixed problems with unsupported characters in Hostname (first time could still give problems, since first there has to be a valid name in the instrument).

Revision 1.00 build 6 (CP-4900 driver)

Known Issues

Configuration

Issue In versions after 3.1.4 with Hotfix Rollup 1, the Upload Method feature is no longer available from the Control menu.

Workaround Create a new method manually if necessary.

Issue - Configuration services don't work from a client. The Services buttons in configuration only work on the EZServer, not from a client. If you try from a client you'll get a 'FAILED: EstablishConnection error'. (Incident 20655)

Workaround You must configure CP4900 from the EZServer.

Issue Autosampler options appear in method even though the VICI sampler is not configured. (Incident 20612)

Workaround Ignore autosampler options if they are not needed.

Issue When you configure an Ethernet communications port, the Host name this PC displays the computer that configured the instrument rather than the name of the Client or EZServer. (Incident 20748)

Workaround The Host name is the computer that configured the instrument.

Issue It is possible to add up to sixteen modules to the CP4900 configuration. However, only one is supported. (Incident 20640)

Workaround Only add one module to each CP4900 instrument.

Issue When an analog detector is added to the configuration of CP4900, it will default to the name Detector5, even if fewer than 5 channels are configured. (Incident 20656)

Workaround The analog detector will be labeled Detector 5.

Issue Parameters in the User Settings tab in configuration must be downloaded. They cannot be set from an off-line instrument. (Incident 20531)

Workaround Do not set parameters in User Settings in an off-line instrument.

VICI Valve

Issue If the sequence wizard is run with no VICI valve configured (the CP4900s autosampler) the autosampler screen still appears and vial number and volume columns are added to the sequence. (Incident 20658)

Workaround Ignore the vial number and volume columns.

Instrument Setup

Issue It is not possible to make changes to the Instrument Setup parameters during a run. (Incident 20643)

Workaround Use an offline instrument to make changes to a method while the instrument is running.

Issue When channels are disabled from a parameter upload from the GC, the configuration printout shows the channels as enabled. If channels are manually disabled, the printout shows the channels disabled. (Incident 20729)

Workaround Manually disable the channels before printing, or note the behavior.

Audit Trail

Issue - Audit trail is not implemented in CP4900 control. (Incident 20657)

Workaround Do not use a CP4900 instrument if method audit trail is required.
