What is agINFRA?• A 3-years project, co-funded by the European Union,

developing data infrastructure and services for the global agricultural research community

• Involved are FAO and other information and techno-logy partners from Europe, China, Ecuador and India

• Together with related initiatives aiming for integrated services and open access data

The approach in a few words• Linked Data for semantic interoperability of

heterogeneous data• Grid/cloud services for massive data aggregation and

heavy infrastructure service tasks• Integrated services for search, access and usage• Rich toolbox for working on and with the data, e.g.,

repository managers, service providers, research organizations and projects

For a research community that...• Collaborates to enable sustainable agriculture and

food security for all • Works in different regions as well as globally • Applies knowledge and methods from different

disciplines• Shares research results in a trustful and open way

Serbian HPC stakeholder: IPB• The Institute of Physics Belgrade (http://www.ipb.ac.rs/) is founded in 1961 by the

Serbian government with a mission to conduct high quality research in physics and related sciences including applications, and at present it contributes to more than 10% of the total new scientific knowledge generated in the country.

• IPB is highly recognized research institute and partner at the European level, being host to four EU Centers of Excellence:– CX-CMCS (Centre of Excellence for Computational Modeling of Complex Systems), – OPSA (Centre of Excellence for Optical Spectroscopy Applied in Physics, Material Science

and Environmental Protection), – IPB-CNP (Reinforcing Experimental Centre for Non-Equilibrium Studies with Application in

Nano-Technologies, Etching of Integrated Circuits and Environmental Research)– QUPOM (Reinforcing the Centre for Quantum and Optical Metrology)

• IPB is partner in a large number of Framework Programme projects, as well as a host to several Marie Curie grants

IPB, Grid and HPC• In 2008, IPB is designated by the Ministry of Science and Technological

Development of the Republic of Serbia as the referent institution for Grid and HPC in the country, and appointed to represent Serbia in European HPC-related projects such as PRACE RI implementation phases

• IPB is also designated by the Ministry as a coordinating institution for the seven-year National Supercomputing Initiative (2010-2016).
