When using electrical equipment, basic safetyprecautions should always be followed to reduce therisk of fire, electric shock and personal injury,including the following:

• Read all instructions before use.

• To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not immersethe shaker in water or liquids.

• See instructions for cleaning.

• Be sure the power cord supplied with your shakermatches your AC power requirements.

• Use only three-prong (earth grounded) power cordswith this shaker.

• Do not operate after the equipment malfunctions, orhas been damaged in any manner. Return theshaker to our service center for examination, repair,electrical or mechanical adjustment.

• Do not use equipment except as intended.

• Assemble "Standard tube attachment" (MS 1.1).

• Che~~ eq.uipment nameplate for approved voltagespecification before plugging in shaker.

• Set rocker switch to "Touch" position.

• Set knob on the left side to "Touch" position.

• Turn the speed control knob to set speed.

• Press tube down in center of "'Standard tubeattachment". (Do not use excessive force.) Themotor starts automatically, and stops whendownward pressure is eliminated.

• Adjust speed as needed.

NOTE: Smaller tubes will need more speed thanlarger ones. The speed of the motor iselectronically stabilized and will not changedue to manual pressure.

Available platforms are:

MS 1.3 Base plate mounting attachmentMS 1.4 Microtiter plate attachment

• Remove "Standard tube attachment" or otherplatform by pulling upward. (Do not turn!).

• Assemble platform.

• Set knob on the left side to "Platform" position.

• Set speed to LOW (200 rpm).

• Turn the speed control knob to set speed.

• Start motor by switching rocker switch to position"On". The motor stops by switching the rockerswitch to "Off" position or to the "Touch" position.

WARNING: Do not exceed 800 rpm when using theMicrotiter plate attachment. Higher speed

& may cause spills.

, Do not exceed 1400 rpm when using the• base plate.

• Unplug the shaker.

• Clean carefully with damp cloth and warm water.

• Do not clean with acetone or other organic liquids,except alcohol.

• In extreme cases, mild alcohols may be used.

• Rinse and dry thoroughly.

Never place equipment in water or other liquids.

To avoid electrical shock, do not open the housing.Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.

To avoid electrical shock, do not open the housing.

Locating the source of your problem:

• Turn off the shaker by setting the rocker switch tothe "Off" position.

• Turn the speed control knob to low speed.

• Turn the shaker on by setting the rocker switch tothe "On" position.

• Turn the speed control knob to 600 rpm.

If there is no movement and no sound:

• Unplug power cord and check both fuses. If thefuses are OK the shaker has to be checked byservice.

If the "Standard tube attachment" or any platformdoes not move, but the noise of the motor sounds:

• Refer servicing to qualified personnel for checkingthe belt drive.

If high speed is needed and the platform comes off,use a repositionable adhesive (i.e. 3M ReMount) andspray it into the three holes on the under side of theplatform.
