We can stop crime inParkview
Last year we reported that we had developed a plan to reduce crime inParkview. It was overwhelmingly supported. It was based on a vision ofa suburb we want to live in, where you can walk the streets, sleep inyour house, and live without fear.
What is SafeParkview all about? We’ve got a leaflet that we’ve puttogether which is available at the desk at the back of the hall. But morethan anything, it will bring us:
24 hour streetpatrols
Most important - 24 hour street patrols by vehicles with 2 officers pervehicle. This is what has been proven to prevent crime, not just respondto it…Our neighbours in Saxonwold and in Upper Westcliff have eachreduced crime from about 8 incidents a month to one, and often ZERO.…
plus armedresponse
But we have combined it with a full armed response service with morecars and manpower than any existing providers offer
cost R630 per month perhousehold
Over time, if we get more of the residents to join, the cost perhousehold could go down substantially.
We have been workinghard to make it happen
And a large group of people have been working to make it come true.We completed a tender process and appoitned a preferred provider -24/7 who are here tonight, we completed budgets, established a newsection 21 non-profit company, and in November we launched a sign upcampaign.
