Introduction to Smart Guns™ Smart Guns ™ are designed to support professional pesticide applicator drivers and provide an accurate way to record ag retail custom application activities. Data captured in Smart Guns™ automatically completes applicator driver log books and detailed time-stamped application logs. Smart Guns™ eliminate the need to build field spray sheets and capture critical crop input data for farmers’ field histories. Smart Guns ™ are designed to assist professional drivers during machine loading. Smart Guns ™ capture crop input data and then share the information to update critical inventory information and accounting and regulatory functions. The result is records that are more accurate and can be accessed faster for billing and informational purposes.

Getting Started… Connecting the handheld device to a PC

Before any information can be transferred between the handheld device and the PC, they need to be connected together. This is done by using a USB cord that is provided by AgWorks. (See above diagram)

1. Connect the cable to the PC that will be used for Smart Gun/BB Gun transfers. 2. Connect the opposite end of the cable to the bottom of the handheld. 3. Once the cable has been connected to both the PC and the handheld, you are ready to start

transferring information. The USB cable may be connected to the PC at all times. This may make connecting the PC and handheld device easier.

You have a series of Orders to apply all with the same product(s) and rate(s) used. You can fill the applicator machine tank to capacity each time and plan to carry-over the remaining product to the next Order.

Product(s) and Rate(s) must match on the Orders to use the carry-over function

In this example there are several Orders to be applied with the same product and rate - One common example would be Roundup applications on soybeans

Print and Scan Barcode Orders Printing bar–coded orders is a method for getting order information into a Smart Gun TM. This is commonly used if the Smart Gun TM has already uploaded & downloaded all scheduled application order information from the Schedule program, and is out in the field. Additional orders can be added to the list of orders in the Smart Gun TM by printing the bar-coded order in the office, and taking the bar-coded document out to the field where the Smart Gun TM can scan the order information in. Scanning the bar codes is much easier for the Smart Gun TM operator than typing information in manually. Print a Barcode Order

Introduction to BB Guns Batch/Broadcast Guns, otherwise known as BB Guns, are hand-held tools used by custom applicator drivers to record their activities. BB Guns record blended fertilizer/pesticide applications. As blended orders are mixed and delivered to the field, the applicator drivers record application information. At the end of the day of custom application, BB Guns are linked to the local AgWorks PC/terminal and downloaded. BB Guns help applicator drivers by automatically completing applicator driver log books and reducing the time required for recording activities.

BB Gun is a mode within the Smart Gun application
