In addition to providing guests access to amenities and services, she also delivers secure Wi-Fi, and controls for television, lighting and temperature. High-fidelity Bluetooth speakers allow guests to enjoy their favorite music and make hands-free phone calls.

Angie was designed and built for hospitality. Her multilingual voice and high-resolution touch screen interfaces are easy for guests to access, use and understand. Angie can immediately upgrade property Wi-Fi to meet modern brand standards while also offering room control solutions that help manage utility costs and meet sustainability goals. Angie also provides an attractive replacement for aging PBX handsets, and a new in-room medium for guest engagement. Angie’s enterprise-class, cloud-managed platform is built on a secure, scalable, and highly-available architecture that is continuously monitored and enables her to self-configure for each property and room as soon as she’s plugged in.

The Inspiration Behind Angie

After nearly two decades of providing technology solutions to hotels and their guests around the world, a team of industry veterans came together to take a fresh look at how to deliver better quality service in a more affordable and sustainable way. Having serviced the world’s leading hospitality brands at thousands of properties in over 60 countries, and delivering around-the-clock support and services to tens of millions of guests every year, this group understood the challenges faced by hotel owners and operators - as guest expectations rise, technology advances and competitive pressures increase.

Guests want to quickly become comfortable in their room, hotel, and city, while having ready awareness and access to the services and amenities available to them. They also want to painlessly connect all their devices together and to reliable, secure internet.

Hoteliers want to increase guest satisfaction and loyalty, while lowering operational costs and increasing property revenue. These goals appeared mutually exclusive in many ways, until the team came up with an entirely new approach.

The team asked:

● Could we create a modern device that leverages the technological advances of recent years to provide a fully encrypted Wi-Fi network for each guest room, that also provides both voice and touch interfaces to deliver the comfort and ease that guests seek?  

● Could it also allow hotel staff to easily connect with their guests to promote and engage in appealing and effective ways that increase both revenue and loyalty?

● Could it also replace the often-outdated guest services directory, the often-wrong alarm clock and the rarely used PBX phone handset?

Ted Helvey is CEO of Angie Hospitality, the developer of Angie, the world’s only 24-hour interactive guest room assistant, Wi-Fi and room control technology solution built just for hotels and resorts. The winner of HTNG’s 2017 TechOvation Award, Angie was designed and built for hospitality, with a multilingual voice and high-resolution touch screen interface that is easy for guests to access, use and understand. A technology innovator with over three decades of demonstrated expertise and industry experience, Helvey continuously seeks out new ways to help hotels and resorts improve guest satisfaction, maximize operational efficiencies and increase revenue. He sees multilingual voice as the optimal universal interface with the unique potential to streamline both guest-facing services and back-of-house operations in this ever increasingly interconnected world. Creator of interactive guest room assistant to compete in leading start-up

competition at HITEC Toronto 2017

San Jose, CA – June 19, 2017 – Angie Hospitality, creator of Angie, a revolutionary voice-based hotel guest room technology solution, will be competing in the Entrepreneur 20X (E20X) competition, taking place during day one of HITEC Toronto on June 26 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Angie Hospitality is one of 13 start-up contenders and will be pitching its innovative voice command solution with a four-minute presentation detailing Angie’s key features, as well as her significant impact on guest communications and back-of-house operation protocol for the hospitality industry. The E20X competition features two eligible awards – the Judges’ Award and the People’s Startup Award. The Judges’ Award is given to the start-up deemed most innovative and is chosen directly by the judging panel, with a trophy and grand prize of $5,000.
