“The big question is not whether we'll keep making scientific discoveries,
but whether those discoveries will be used to stop the deadliest diseases,
educate the world's children, and create opportunities for the poor. If
young scientists take on these challenges, they'll find that reducing the
inequality is the highest human achievement.”
Bill Gates at Harvard University
I have taken up the challenge of eradicating unemployment from the world. I know it is an extensive and
comprehensive task but throughout my life I have seen this inequity as a cause of other world inequities
like women oppression, education, human rights, world hunger, social and cultural evils and sluggish
progress & development. I have seen these inequities more rampant, galore and affluent in rural areas
juxtaposition to urban areas. Now the question arises why I have taken up this challenge? The answer lies
in my own life experiences. I belong to a middle class family with high social norms, my father was an
army officer and often he had to serve in rural areas of Pakistan like Bajaur and Wana agencies in federally
administered tribal areas. I had enjoyed my childhood in above mentioned areas. I was a student of Wana
Scouts Public School and Bajaur Scouts Public School, both schools have been demolished by Taliban now,
our school had a negligible strength of female students and only the daughters of army officers and civil
servants studied there. Even the tribal heads forbade their daughters to go to our school for education
and gender discrimination had become a cultural norm. Women were considered commodities of pride,
honor and patriarchy was rampant. People in tribal areas were so immersed in their unethical cultural
values that they sometimes indulged themselves in to horrors of honor killing. Apart from this many
families were not against girls education rather they sent them to madrassahs to acquire knowledge
relating manners, domestic services, religious education etc. as westernized education was expensive and
many families had no proper means of income to send them to westernized schools . This added as a
catalyst to the whole situation as many madrassahs were the promoter of women oppression. In Bajaur,
the religious monarchs and muftis had issued fatwas against women drivers; they were not allowed to
drive domestic cars. I still remember my mother drove a car to go to the school for teaching the boys
there. In retaliation the muftis lead a procession against her and my mother was not allowed to teach
anymore and had to sit at home for 6 months. Thus this crumbled the hope in female students to have a
prosperous and a happy life based on gender equality. And this was all because of the common citizens
not taking a stand against the mufti. It was not their fault but the environment had compelled them to
not take the stand. Many of the families earned their bread and butter from those madrassah in account
of alms and donations. And madrassahs recruited little boys for meeting their aims and goals.
Unemployment was rampant and other means for opening business were not available too. There were
no banks to give out loans to common citizens and if one tried to open up a business he would have to
get a loan from the madrassahs and sometimes pay madrassahs the share of profit. Many small businesses
had to pay extortion money to the madrassahs. Lack of political social and economic reforms had
crumbled the life there. In my opinion if unemployment had been eradicated the people would sent their
children to schools that were not madrassahs and they could have differentiated between right and wrong
and ethical and non-ethical issues. Thus if a bank was opened there the promotion of development could
have happened. My childhood experiences there were very crude as I got to taste the rampant world
inequities.
In last year of my father’s service, he was posted to Karachi which is a metropolitan city in Pakistan; I
matriculated myself from the Army public school. I completed my School studies i.e. 5th to 10th grade and
in my first year of College I attained Ninety percent in Mathematics.
In Karachi the atmosphere was quitted relaxed as compared to the agencies in FATA, female students
studied with us indiscriminately without any compulsion from the society or their families. The developed
city was less unemployed as compared to the tribal areas. And there were no discriminating fatwas in the
city. But it was not clear as I had anticipated. As I grew up I observed other kinds of inequities which
crippled the growth of the society. These anomalies were again based upon culture like insurance curbs
the belief in god, salaries earned from interest was considered haram (forbidden) and survival of the fittest
was acknowledged with respect and pride. This was all based on the cultural norms of the society rather
the Islamic norms. When Islamic finance was introduced in Pakistan the faces which were uttering
conventional banks as an abomination were also criticizing the Islamic banks based on their opinion that
both are the same. Thus lead to the conclusion that corrupt cultural values curbs progress and begets
savagery.
This all lead me to choose Actuarial science and risk management in the year 2009 I started my bachelors
of sciences (actuarial sciences and risk management), a well reputed university. In spring of 2010 I
represented my university in Hr. Submit 2010 which was conducted by institute of business administration
(IBA). The intension and willingness to perform was inspired by historical personalities therefore I wrote
a book “voice of Karbala” which was nominated for the award of ‘SAHARAN’ for contributing towards the
historical highlight in the summer of 2010.
After having inspiration from my childhood experiences and historical personalities contributing towards
history I realized my duties towards the eradication of inequities from this world. With resources that I
had I contributed towards the society by finding ARM (actuarial sciences and risk management) society of
IoBM in 2011. The mission of this society was to enlighten the minds of common people with risk
eradication techniques like insurance etc. which they can apply in their daily lives. This was one of the
biggest challenge for me and my fellow colleagues because at that time the profession actuarial science
and risk management was considered to be the part of mathematical society which was overshadowing
the whole new dynamics of mathematical application. After a struggle of one and half year the university
board accepted the need of this platform. After the formation I was nominated as the president of this
society by mutual consensus and academic achievement. At the same time I represented my university in
different social and financial event like (coronation 2011 and primus financial development 2012)
In the year 2012 being the president of this monastically huge society I along with my team organize a
ground breaking event relating to risk mitigation (which was named (Risk Frontier). In spring of 2013 and
2014 I presented my research papers in mathematical colloquium regarding stochastic process and Big
Data Innovation, which was considered as the most applicable strategy to manage and modify large data
and what are the trends which are followed by these Big Data Problem (how to find information about
MH370). In spring of 2013 I presented an insurance model as my final year project which was accepted by
the actuaries and my university as one of the most applicable project, on which I received the highest
score. At the same time I was appreciated by Ziaduin Hospital and university for conducting (helping on)
research paper regarding lumber puncher and other bone/muscular pain treatments.
During my senior year, I began advancing an absorption in risk management alongside my coursework in
statistics. In the summer of 2013, acquisitive to acquaintance immediate the appliance of the fields’
accoutrement in finance, I began an internship as an analyst with advance basic markets limited. There, I
developed a time-series cutting appliance for risk-analytics. The highlight of this acquaintance came at
summer’s end when I presented my plan to the head of research at invest capital markets limited. I
became an Academic Excellence trend setter for credit risk management, and after for international
financial reporting standards. These courses were advised to supplement the students. Compassionate of
advance actual by accepting them conveyance on an arduous set of problems. Other than my academic
and professional success I enjoy helping the humanity and worked for the development of under privilege
and forgotten sector of people which really satisfy my innovational criteria’s I have been the part of Al-
Manji welfare organization and helped the underprivileged throughout my country which include the
victims of Bomb blast and famine
In April 2013 I opened a research firm on my probability and statistical approach at first I handled the
affairs of the company individually. Keeping the view of financial needs of my colleagues I started this firm
I haired then as the processed better modeling and techniques based on this I earned the revenue and
share the profit among ourselves But when I noticed the expanding cliental I named my firm 5 dafrs so
that it will perform the activities of the entity. After naming the firm the cliental grew and firms contacted
me.
I have done two internships in Research Department of Financial Brokerage namely
1) Al hoqani securities and Investments
2) Invest Capital Markets Limited
After completion of my graduation I got the job in an Insurance Brokerage House named Excel Consulting
Private Limited (network member of Willis international insurance brokers) as an Account Executive.
Currently I have their major accounts in which one of them is Siemens Pakistan
I am willing to sacrifice my current job as it will not bring an end to the objective that I have taken up.
Therefore I am applying for the opportunity so if I am able to attain this opportunity myself I will be more
equipped to eradicate the task of ending Unemployment.
