1. Tenders should be registered and addressed to theDeputy Postmaster- General, Adelaide, the words " Tendersfor Conveyance of Mails " being indorsed on the envelope orcover.

Every tender must bear the bona fide signature, dulywitnessed, of the tenderer and of two respectable and respon-sible persons willing to become bound for the due fulfilmentof the contract, and guaranteeing the safety of the mails, ina sum equal to double the annual amount payable under thecontract.

If, during the continuance of the contract, it be practi-cable to convey mails by railway over any part of the distance,the Postmaster- General shall have the power to make a rate-able mileage reducion in the payments to the contractor,and the contractor may be required to take up and receivethe iva=ls at any railway station or pal t of the road to whichrailway communication shall extend ; and the contractorshall not be entitled to any compensation for Eucli rateablereduct'on.

4. Every tender of £23 o: over per annum m st be a :com-panied b, a deposit of a sum equal to 5 per cent. of the annualamcunt'or which the tenderer is willing to undertak theservice, up to £1,000, and 2¡ per cent. on any further sum be-yond £1,000. Deposits will ue absolutely forfeited to the Post-master-General should the tender be witted: awii, or shouldthe person whose tender is accepted fail to have the usual bondand agreement completed, to the satisfaction Of the DeputyPostmaster- General, within fourteen days after the posting ofnotice from the Deputy Postmaster- General that the bondand agreement are ready for signature.

5. Tenders must state the mode in which the mails will becarried, whether in vehicle, on horseback, by camels, orotherwise; and where vehicles are to be used, the descriptionof vehicle and the number of horses by which it is to bedrawn must be stated ; and in every case suitable and properbrakes must be provided.

6. The lowest or any tender will not necessarily beaccepted.
