Dutch Auction Items ~ PresentedbyChairmanChuckMiles,AIDBoardofDirectors $25 ~ Building Healthy Minds & Bodies: In 2012 AID launched its Health and Wellness Initiative; an intense education, nutrition and exercise program that has helped clients achieve healthier lifestyles. Learning how to shop for and prepare well-balanced meals, adopting an exercise routine and participating in meditation and stress-free activities is facilitating lifestyle changes that could lead to improved overall health, including managing diabetes symptoms, lowering blood pressure and reducing medications taken. For a $25 donation to the AID Health and Wellness Initiative, AID can provide educational health handbooks to clients as well as primary exercise equipment including: large exercise balls, resistance band sets, hand weights, yoga mats, stop watches/timers, portable cd players/cds and exercise DVDs.
$50 ~ Dental: Many of our clients have Medicare, which does not cover dental needs. Your donation will help keep the smiles of the people we serve healthy and beautiful. The need is great (AID had over $10,000 in out of pocket expenses for client dental work last year) and we hope we can count on your support to light up our clients’ smiles. $100~ActivitiestoIncludeAktionClub,Recreational,Sporting: Most AID clients receive only $50 in personal allowance money per month which is typically used for personal needs. There is little to no money left for recreational purposes once essentials are pur-chased. We would love to provide our clients with more of the simple pleasures like going to a movie, a day at the zoo, attending a sporting event, bowling in a league, joining a club like the Aktion Kiwanis Club, or other enjoyable activities. Help us provide some “fun” for as many clients as possible.
$175 ~ Triple Play: Includes Building Healthy Minds & Bodies, Dental and Activities.

Another important part of the Access Center’s mission is helping students with disabilities make a successful transition from high school to college, where students become their own advocates, taking responsibility for their own accommodations and educational goals.
In addition to the Access Center, Waubonsee also has a Delta Sigma Omicron chapter on campus, which is open to all students interested in advocating on behalf of or working with individuals with disabilities. The college also offers courses in Disability Studies.
