Brazil Trip 2015

My first experience in Brazil was at CECOIA. After many hours of traveling, this experience was so much

fun. First we watched a dance from some of the girls at CECOIA. They were very talented. Then we

worked with the students and helped with three activities. The first activity was the potato-on-a-spoon

game. There were four groups and we had to run back and forth without the potato falling off. Next we

played musical chairs. Then after we helped out with a fishing game. My favorite experience at CECOIA

was when Kelly, Diego, and I played soccer against the children from CECOIA. They were very talented.

We played against 8 teams and only lost against 1. Kelly played barefoot and scored 8 goals and Diego

scored 4. I played defense and had a great time. We had so much fun with the children at CECOIA and I

hope we get to go and help with them again. I hope we get to play soccer again because we had so much

fun and played for almost an hour and a half.

The Festa Junina was one of my favorite experiences ever! The dances were very good

and and the food was amazing! I really enjoyed the pasel and the churros. It was also my

first time trying tapioca in that style of cooking. I have had is as pudding but never as a

patty. I also really enjoyed the fireworks and the burning of the wood tower. I liked how the

festa was both religious and full of fun.

I also really liked how we all lit the candles. They symbolized the light inside of us, and

when everyone had their candles light it was very beautiful. I am so happy we were able

to travel to Brazil and to imerse ourselves into the culture. The Festa was beautiful and I

am so happy I was able to make so many new friends from the other side of the equator.
