LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear AIESEC in Belgium,Dear friends and supporters,

AIESEC in Belgium was here.

This year has been the beginning of something bigger and better. We, the national committee, leaders, interns, partners of AIESEC in Belgium have BELIEVED, LIVED and SHOWCASED what leadership means to us: BREAKING BOUNDARIES.

Breaking boundaries was not the only stand of our entity but a mindset that our entity needed to show. Our goal this year has been to be proud but never satisfied by the initiatives and actions we undertook. This annual report is the legacy of a united, stronger and proactive AIESEC in Belgium towards all our stakeholders.

The growth in our professional internships demonstrates how relevant our programmes are for Belgian students but also for multinationals and SMEs. Moreover, increasing the visibility of AIESEC in Belgium through online and physical channels have been the key drivers this year for maintaining and building new collaborations with extraordinary organisations.

This annual report is not only a gathering of facts but the proof of our belief in progress and the picture of our annual achievements which are just the start for the future generations of AIESEC in Belgium. It is a pleasure to review our annual year by discovering who AIESEC in Belgium was in 2013-2014, our progress, the development of our membership, our successful collaborations and finally our partners.

Finally, this year has been an honour and blessing for the entire national committee and we wish an incredible year to the new national committee and AIESEC in Belgium as a whole.

Best regards,

HÉLÈNE YOHANNESPRESIDENT 2013-2014

OUR MISSION FOR THE YEAR

BOARD OF ADVISORS

Over the past years, AIESEC in Belgium has grown in performance and reach in the corporate and student market. This year, we aimed to take that further by empowering our local offices to deliver high quality experiences and tap into the huge potential and resources available in Belgium. We identified that Belgium as a country is faced with economic, cultural and personal issues which hinders young people from being entrepreneurial and self-aware. As AIESEC, our aim is to provide quality leadership experiences in and outside Belgium that takes young people outside their comfort zone to challenge them so they may be able to understand themselves and the world around them.In order to move AIESEC in Belgium further, we focused on evolving the organisation in three dimensions which were embedded in our entire operations.

ProcessOptimization

Customer Satisfaction

Promoter Showcasing

The Board of Advisors acts as a regular sounding board to the national team in respect of Strategy, program development, network development, budget and regulatory aspects. The board has a multi-year view on the development of the association in Belgium, which is not always the case of the national team. During meetings, they try to devote as much time as possible with brainstorming and Q&A, which are the most interesting moments for both the national team and the board. In respect of process, a quarterly “reporting” to the board requires a dynamic planning, organisation and follow up of activities at the level of the national office, which helps the national office to take regularly a fair look at the progress of its activities. Making the best use of board meetings also requires the national team to really focus on key success factors, to develop sharp reporting and presentation skills, to meet deadlines, and also to practise listening skills. The ability to report meaningful interim information (with comparison to last year and to the current year plan) in a concise manner is often a real challenge upon the first board meeting of the year.

Page 7: AIESEC in Belgium Annual Report | 2013 - 2014

Marketing ManagerMicrosoft

Vincent Joris

The approach was very open and professional; board meetings were quite efficient, input information was well sent in advance so that we could use a lot of the meeting time to discussions. A very good point this year was the several contacts with the president months before the term started. I felt a very good preparation and anticipation of the work to be done. This was necessary as the plan was very ambitious both from a quantitative as from a qualitative point of view. The results are there to confirm the great performance and attitude of the team: more traineeships raised and a noticeable increase in the performance of the local offices. Indeed, the empowerment of the local offices is the key to a strong further development of the association in Belgium. This need a lot of coaching as well as sharing more control with the members. This is a risky and challenging move for the national team and the improvement of the local office performance has been significant, although a lot more can be achieved in respect of several local offices. So, there is still a lot of work for the upcoming AIESEC teams

in Belgium.

GLOBAL TALENT FOR COMPANIES

This year we had a successful Global Internship Program, as it is usual in Belgium. However, the thing that will make this year remarkable for AIESEC in Belgium is the fact that my team and I brought our entity back to the essence of AIESEC.

During our year managing this program, we created and applied the Leadership development plan and a Carrier Plan for our interns. We focused on Quality Internships and establishing partnerships with a purpose behind it.

We decided to focus on the customer and provide to the intern and to our partners the best experience, assuring them the delivery of the Leadership in every experience.

All of the interns that we have do not want to do this job because it is providing something on their CVs, they want to prove themselves; that is the real driver AIESEC provides to young people. This capacity to go beyond limits and really provide your added value to this company. They don’t just want to do their job; they want to learn, develop and bring their own passion, creativity and perspective from wherever in the world they come from to help us grow in our business.

It’s really great to see this freshness of people who are very dynamic who want to bring their own element to the company. We want to help them develop themselves through these experiences because we truly believe that what they are bringing to us is a great value. That is why we’ve been partnering with AIESEC for the last 10 years.

It’s more than just a connection with young people. It’s really seeing how our two organisations together can make a real difference in the world.

ALEX ST-URBAININTERN AT UCB

During my one year internship at UCB in Belgium, I was able to manage large scale communication projects in an international environment. I learned so much from my dynamic team and was able to collaborate with management and company leaders from our affiliates all over the world. I could not have asked for a better experience with AIESEC and now I feel confident that I have the skills to be successful in my next

endeavor.

We appreciate our partners for making these life changing internships possible. For the next year, we would be focusing on taking our existing partnerships further, gaining entry into new markets and strengthening our partnerships. Contact me or the business developement team to join us on this on this journey.

The AIESEC Campus Recruitment Programme is an effective and reliable way to promote jobs, work placement and internships, used by the best employers on the market. They enable exchange of information and mutual expectations, which in turn allows employers to invite students with an appropriate profile to submit their application.

CAMPUS RECRUITMENTEXPERIENCE

PROGRAMME MANAGER - TALENT MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENTMASTERCARD

It was a great employer branding exercise for us as we were not only able to identify the gaps of how students perceive the company but also challenged them and by showing concrete examples and involving them in interactive dialogue. This gave us a great visibility to the students were targeting to reach and created a buzz on campus about MasterCard. 37% of all applications for summer internship and graduate programmes in Belgium were from KULeuven. AIESEC gave us an opportunity to target specific audience on campus (very diverse) and get a

better connection with the students.
