OPENING CEREMONY

The Opening Ceremony is a chance to welcome all the delegates from AIESEC, the students from universities and colleges in Muscat, as well as the corporate delegates coming from companies interested in learning more about youth opinion.The day will begin with Rafael Pilliard Hellwig, President of AIESEC in Oman, introducing the Master of Ceremonies, John Joseph Ryan, senior sustaibnability advisor, Sustainability excel-lence.

Rafael Pilliard HellwigPresidentAIESEC in Oman

Rafael is a dynamic individual who has been connecting youngpeople around social projects for the betterment of society for the past ten years. He received a civic award in 2006 from the City of Vancouver for his contributions to the youth community and has since organized and led leadership development conferences that reached hundreds of people in Canada, Jordan, Morocco, and Greece. Rafael studied Law at Carleton University and is now President of AIESEC in Oman where has helped the youth of Oman develop their entrepreneurial abilities and gain professional development opportunities around the world.

Johnjoseph RyanProject Management Officer & Senior Sustainability Adi-vsorSustainability Excellence

Project Management Officer & Senior Sustainability Advisor – Sustainability ExcellenceJJ is currently the project management officer and senior sustain-ability advisor for Sustainability Excellence, a leading boutique sustainability advisory firm with a mission of rapidly accelerating the uptake of sustainability in the Arab World. JJ works with large-scale regional and international organisations, covering six countries and seven sectors, to embed strate-gic sustainability management and reporting. He has worked in the region since 2009 with some of the first movers and now leaders in sustainability management. JJ is also currently leading Sustainability Excellence’s regional data initiative - Arab Transparency – which involves the tracking, benchmarking, aggregating and presenting of sustainability performance for over 260 regional organisations.JJ is a proud alumnus of AIESEC, serving as the president of AIESEC UK in 2007-2008 and AIESEC US in 2008-2009.

PANEL DISCUSSION

The panel, consisting of representatives from the private sector, nonprofit sector, government, and the youth, will bring their expertise to a discussion of the output from the previous ses-sion. The panelists will provide perspective on the goals and aspirations of the delegates to the conference, providing them with advice on seeking their goals, and commenting on the collective vision of the youth of Oman.

Shadha Al HashmiCommerce Student, AIESEC MemberSultan Qaboos University

Shadha just finished her second year of university in Sultan Qaboos University as a business student. Her main interest in career and studies lies in management, which she intends to major in. She joined AIESEC in October 2011 and since then has been active in talent management and incoming ex-change teams,she aspires to become an entrepreneur one day and she believe by being in aiesec she can improve her lead-ership skills. She’s also an aspiring photographer and hopes she could make something of it.

Walaa HamdanClient Servicing ManagerOrigin Communication

`Walaa is managing Origin Communication’s office in Muscat as client servicing manager. She graduated from Jordan University in 2010 with a Bachelors degree in Management Information Systems. She has gained valuable experience working with AIESEC during her four years of university study in Jordan and during the year spent with AIESEC Oman as a National CSR

Project Coordinator, gaining valuable insight on CSR and sustainability in Oman and the region.

Aisha Abdullah Al KharusiHead of CSR and Corporate Communications\National Bank of Oman

Al Kharusi is the Head of CSR & Corporate Communications at the National Bank of Oman (NBO). Her recent achievement includes releasing the first Sustainability Report in the Banking industry in Oman. Before taking the helm at NBO, Al Kharusi worked as the Deputy Regional Director for Boeing’s Dubai office. She has held several positions as a Board Member for the Omani Businesswomen Forum, Oman Chamber of Commerce, and inJAz Oman. Currently, she is board member of AIESEC Oman Chapter. She is an avid public speaker on CSR in the ME,

Saeed Al JabriCSR SuperintendentSohar Aluminium

Saeed is the Corporate Social Responsibility Superintendent of Sohar Aluminium Company based in Sohar, Oman. Saeed has 9 years of experience in the Oil Industry (Petroleum Development of Oman) and 6 years of experience on Aluminium Industry. Prior to this position, he was the Document Control Lead Engineer on the same organization and was appointed as CSR Superintendent 1st of August 2011.

Al Kharusi is also an active philanthropist, supporting a primary school for 230 underprivileged children in the island of Zanzibar. Al Kharusi earned a BA from American University, Washington DC and a Master’s degree from Central Saint Martins, London. Additionally, she has a Post Graduate degree in Business Administration from the University of Liverpool. Al Kharusi has two children Sophia and Mohammed.

WORKSHOPS

Sohar University as a Marketing and External Relations Manager, and served on their Recruit-ment Committee. Al Balushi has attended trainings and workshops in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Kuwait, and the United Kingdom. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside and a Bachelors Degree in Education from Sultan Qaboos University.

This interactive session will focus on presenting the sustainable development challenge that the region is facing, touching upon economic, social and environmental aspects. It will then briefly summerise the response from businesses internationally, and what is being done across the region in terms of sustainability management to address these challenges. This session should prompt the audience to thing about how they as business representa-tive, or youth can make a major contribution to the sustainable development of Oman.

Hamid Abdullah Al BalushiCommunity Relations ManagerVale Oman Pelletizing Company LLC

Al Balushi is the Community Relations Manager for Vale Oman Pelletizing Company LLC. He has a long career of service and contribution to the Al Batinah region. Prior to joining Vale, Al Balushi worked as an entrepreneur, running his own real estate business and establishing the Sohar branch of the E.L.S Language Center. He also worked with

Tawasul

Tawasul will deliver a workshop titled Sustainability in Action. The workshop is aimed at understanding sustainability and ways how sustainability can be measured. The workshop will draw examples on how youth can promote sustainability within university atmosphere.

FacilitatorNasra Al Adawi, a published author, poet and CEO. Nasra has more than ten years’ experience in working with non-profit organizations. She has been at the forefront in bringing poetic fusion in supporting resources development of NGOs. She has published 3 books, all proceeds were donated to charities raising awareness on cancer particularly for women and children. Nasra also served as a free-lance journalist on women’s issues for Oman’s Al-Mar’a Magazine and had a column with Oman Observer on society based issues.As Chief Executive officer for Tawasul, the first independent private training and think-tank in the Sultanate of Oman, within 4 years of inception of Tawasul has received several national, regional and international recognitions and awards. Most notably, Arabic CSR Awards for small business category in 2010, Best Entrepreneur Award by Shell Intilaqaa 2009, and the European Commission Human Rights Chaillot Award in 2008 Nasra also participate actively in national seminars and conferences as a moderator and a speaker covering topic on women and corporate Social Responsibility.
