Thoughtful painting, classical composition, Renaissancepalette and unique photographic technique symbolise herworks. Relics and modern representations at once, theyreturn a viewer to a long-forgotten dialogue about feelingsthat have been discarded for later contemplation.Exhibition "Holy Garden" includes 14 canvases thatrepresent modern interpretation of holy icons. Aigana'spaintings are to be understood through feelings rather thanreason. One should not attempt to decipher humanfeatures in these portraits, but rather notice features thatare holy.
Aigana Gali was born and raised in Kazakhstan, which is theancient crossing on the Great Silk Road, where Asia andEurope mixed to give the world a unique blend of culture.
Faceless portraits of saints are both philosophical and spiritualrepresentation of the artist's view on the depiction of Saints.! Religions such asChristianity have always labeled holy characters and even God with ahuman face. Whether it is right to do so,! has always been questioned.Islam for example forbids giving holy characters a human face and thusforbids the depiction of saints.
These portraits are of presence and of atmosphere, but not of a humanface and its physical features. These faces are of spiritual nature that hasno depiction. Here one can find movement of light, and spiritualemotion.
