Inter-tropical convergence zone
• Known as doldrums by sailors• They are near the equator• Where Northeast and Southeast trade winds
meet• About 5 degrees north and south
![Page 3: Air Circulation and Precipitation](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062520/56815c4a550346895dca4d00/html5/thumbnails/3.jpg)
Tornados
• A wind column that touches earth• Cumulonimbus cloud• Average speeds can be 112 mph• Made up of dust and dirt• Land spout & waterspout tornados and
multiple vortex
![Page 4: Air Circulation and Precipitation](https://reader035.vdocuments.net/reader035/viewer/2022062520/56815c4a550346895dca4d00/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Fujita Scale
• F0(<73) – Light damage• F1(73-112) – Moderate damage• F2(113-157) – Considerable damage• F3(158-206) – Severe damage• F4(207-260) – Devastating damage• F5(261-318) – incredible damage

Tropical Cyclones
• Same thing as a hurricane• Gets force from evaporating water• Can cause heavy rains and flooding• Weaken very fast over land• Helpful- can clear up droughts• Winds can be from 63 to 90 km/hr.

Hurricanes
• Large powerful winds• Formed over large bodies of water• Travel towards land• They pick up speed and power over water• Can be very dangerous and deadly
