CROATIAN ISLAND CRUISEUncover the idyllic islands of the Croatian coastline on this dreamy cruise through the crystal waters of the Adriatic. Sailing from the historic harbour of Split, our first port of call is the tiny mainland city of Makarska. We glide on to the isle of Korcula, birthplace of Marco Polo and home to a medieval walled town, then drop anchor in divine Dubrovnik. Next up is the tranquil island of Mljet with its salt lakes and ancient abbey. Finally, soak up the sun alongside the jet set at Hvar before our return to Split, home to glorious Diocletian’s palace.


Saturday. We fly to Split and transfer to our ship. Settle into your floating hotel before dinner.

Sunday. We set sail for Brac Island for free time to explore. In the afternoon we cruise on to the small mainland city of Makarska where we anchor for the night. Perhaps take a wander around the bustling main square.

Monday. We glide towards Korcula where we stop overnight. This historic town is surrounded by walls and crammed with ancient sites. See the Gothic Renaissance Cathedral, the Revelin Tower, Marco Polo’s house and the Town Museum which is housed in a fifteenth century palace.

Tuesday. A morning departure for Dubrovnik where delights within its imposing walls include a palace, monasteries, fortresses, city gates, pleasant squares and the ornate Onofrio’s Fountain.

Wednesday. We sail on to the national park of Mljet, a paradise island steeped in myth and legend with an untouched nature reserve. Tuck into lunch on board then head to the salt lakes, see Odysseus Cave or visit the Benedictine monastery.

Thursday. Our ship sails on to Hvar, the sunniest Croatian island with gorgeous beaches making it a magnet for the jet set. The town is situated in a sheltered cove and features cobbled squares and a selection of friendly tavernas.

Friday. Our ship returns to Split. Perhaps spend time exploring all the nooks and crannies of the World Heritage Site of Diocletian’s palace which was built as a fortress in the fourth century.

Saturday. After breakfast, we transfer to the airport for our flight home.

RHINE & MOSELLE RIVER CRUISE

PRINSES CHRISTINAThis tastefully furnished ship has a forward lounge on the Promenade Deck featuring a dance floor and bar area as well as a separate restaurant on the Cabin Deck and a spacious open air sun deck. The ship is air-conditioned throughout and all cabins are en suite with satellite television and in house movies. Upper deck cabins have superior views and are higher above the waterline. Please note that whilst there are stairlifts on board, wheelchair access is regrettably not possible.

Sunday. We fly from Edinburgh to Cologne-Bonn for our transfer to the Prinses Christina.Monday. We embark on our river cruise, sailing past bonny Bonn and into the Rhine Valley with its vineyards, romantic castles and colourful villages studding its banks. We arrive at the old Roman town of Andernach.Tuesday. We leave the Rhine at Koblenz and sail along the Moselle to Cochem, a traditional German village where history and folklore are woven into every alleyway and snaking streets of wine taverns nestle beneath storybook Reichsburg Castle. Wednesday. We rejoin the Rhine and glide on to the traditional tourist town of Boppard.Thursday. Our gentle cruise continues to the popular resort of Rudesheim. Perhaps wander the quirky alleyways exploring the historical treasures or visit the Middle Ages Torture Museum! Friday. We return to two thousand year old Koblenz with its abundance of cultural monuments and atmospheric squares. Perhaps hop aboard the ultra modern cable car to visit Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. Saturday. Today we pass the remains of the famous bridge at Remagen as we return to Cologne, arriving mid afternoon. Why not take time to visit Cologne’s majestic cathedral?Sunday. We transfer to Cologne-Bonn Airport for our return flight to Edinburgh.
