TheHibbingPublicUtilitiesCommission(HPUC)operatesacogenerationfacilityforthecityofHibbing.Thefacilitygenerateselectricitythatissoldtothegridandsteamforspaceheatingofbusinesses,schools,andresidences.TheHPUCpowerplantislocatedindowntownHibbingandwasoriginallyconstructedin1919.Theemissionunitsatthesourceconsistofthreecoalboilers,awoodfiredboiler,anashhandlingsystem,aswellasthetwonaturalgasfiredboilerslocatedatthenearbyHibbingHighSchool.ThehighschoolboilersareconnectedtotheHPUCsteamdistributionsystem.ThesixboilersarelabeledBoilerNo.1A,BoilerNo.2A,BoilerNo.3A,HighSchoolBoilerNo.1,HighSchoolBoilerNo.2,andWoodFiredBoiler.Otherairemissionsourcesatthefacilityincludearailcar/truckcoalunloadingstationandanashtransfersystem.

Modificationdescription
