Installation Advice• For an exhaust fan to perform at maximum efficiency, the key requirement is a balanced airflow. This will encourage a “cross breeze” which is essential to clear either vapor or odors.

• If a wall or window fan is installed, it should be as high as possible.

• Do not position the fan close to air inlets, as this will encourage the fan to draw air from this source first.

Axial Flow FansThese are exhaust fans which move large volumes of low pressure air in window, wall or in-line applications. When using an axial flow fan, air must always be drawn or pulled along the duct.

Centrifugal Exhaust FansThese are exhaust fans which move limited volumes of high pressure air through long ducts and overcome the resistance of curves, narrow areas and internal irregularities.

Determining Fan CapacityTo determine the capacity of the fan required, use the following equations and refer to the chart:
