Air Transport Provision inEdited by George Williams and Sve
NEW
The first book to focus solely on this issue,it stems from a series of biennial conferencesdevoted air-transport provision in remoterregions, organized by the Centre for AirTransport in Remoter Regions at CranfieldUniversity. The primary aim of the conferenceshas been to provide an opportunity forthose responsible for operating, managing, regulating and financing air transport servicesand associated infrastructure in these areasto be informed of the latest best-practiceinitiatives, to contrast different policyapproaches and to debate potential solutionsto perennial problems.
Remoter regions has been a neglected areaof air transport, as much of the focus of publicand media attention is on the larger airlines, airports and aircraft. While the number oflarge airports in the world is in the hundreds, there are many thousands of smaller airportsproviding communities all over the globewith vital air links. More often than not theseservices and the airports to which they areoperated are loss making and require subsidiesto sustain them. There are therefore many moreinterested parties involved in both providingand deciding issues relating to the provision of
air transport in these situations, most especiallycentral, regional and local governments whoare charged with financing these activities.
If you count yourself among those with anactive involvement or interest in this subjectyou cannot do without this book.Order your copy today.
