Dates to Remember
From the Principal Our renovation project is underway! This week, contractors began
constructing our six temporary classrooms in the multi-purpose room (old
pool area). This work is expected to take about two weeks, which will put us
on schedule to move prior to Fall Break. Six teachers (Pearcy, Gamble,
Drosche, Mr. Brooks, King, and Mathis) will move into these temporary
classrooms. Mrs. Ransdell and Miss English will also move into other classrooms in the 400
hallway of our building.
Over the break, demolition will occur and Phase 1 construction will begin. I want to assure
you that student safety is our number one priority throughout the process and the following
policies were reviewed in our pre-construction meeting this week:
All contractors have background checks
No contractors are to communicate with students or staff
A construction barrier (temporary walls) will be in place to isolate the area under
construction
Contractors will not have access to occupied parts of our school without a key or access
from school administration---they will have a separate entrance to the work area.
Contractors will not use the building restrooms
Noisy work or activities that may create smells will happen at non-student times
We will continue to keep you informed throughout this transformation. We are excited about
the opportunities this project will provide our students.

PBIS Rewards Program
Part of our positive behavior program at East is to recognize students for making positive decisions and being
leaders in the classroom as well as throughout the building. Each student has been given a PBIS badge and is able to earn points to spend in their classrooms for certain privileges or in our East PRIDE store. Even though we are in full swing, teachers will often spend
time reviewing expectations and procedures with students in order to create a consistent and positive
environment. Teachers also recognize students with PRIDE tickets that are earned and entered into a weekly drawing. If a student’s ticket is drawn, they will have their picture taken and
posted outside their classroom for the week, along with a group photo posted in our front hallway.

The next opportunity for existing students to purchase
laptop insurance is Dec. 18—Jan. 15. The amount will be
prorated to reflect only the second semester. You can find
information by going to the ACSC website, clicking on the
“ACADEMICS” tab, choosing Stepup from the drop-down

Thanks to a generous donation from the Rotary Club of

device, and will then be reimbursed.
