1st Term 2016 Newsletter

Dear Parents, Old Greys and Friends In a passage from a book written by an Eton Housemaster, John McConnell, in 1967, he imagines the letter he wished he had written to all mothers on their son’s 15th birthday. It has wisdom and intuitive truth. ‘Today is Tom’s 15th birthday. You will be glad to hear that he received a nice bundle of envelopes and packages in the post this morning. The cake you ordered has arrived safely. However, the real purpose of this letter is to try and prepare you for an imminent change in the relationship between yourself and your son. The affectionate small boy who has quite justifiably been your pride and joy is about to undergo such a transformation that you may well begin to wonder whether you have mothered a monster. The piping treble voice, you will observe, has already begun to crack. The down on his cheeks and chin is stiffening into defiant bristles and there is an angry hue about the blemishes on his skin. Perhaps you have already started to wonder where you have gone wrong, and what you have done to deserve his new found anger. You, who have shown him most affection, will seem to be the butt for his most barbed and unkindly remarks. That is because you are still the most important woman in his life and the most convenient target for his burgeoning masculine aggressiveness. Do not despair. Ride out the storm. Be firm but affectionate. At this moment when he seems to need you least, he needs you most. Make a stand about the principles you regard as fundamental. Give him rope about the less important things. Comfort yourself with the knowledge that his present mood is transitory. If you do this and stand firm as a rock in the midst of his tempestuous life, the small boy whom you thought you had lost will return to you as a charming young man – well-groomed in appearance and with delightful manners. He will have been worth waiting for. Meanwhile, we are both of us in for one hell of a time.’ Yes, indeed – we are ‘Partners in Education’. And we remain blessed to have quality staff, quality parents and quality young men at The Grey. Thank you, all our valued parents, for entrusting your most prized possession – your sons - into our care and at our beloved school.

ACADEMIC MATTERS

MATRIC RESULTS 2015

2015 saw the eighth set of Matrics schooled under the NCS-FET curriculum (and the second to write the new CAPS curriculum) reach the end of the high school line. Our Grade 12 class of 2015 (186 pupils) made a very good showing, attaining an overall pass rate of 100% (we have now recorded twenty-one clean sheets in the past twenty-four years) and a university entrance pass rate of 79.0%. After re-marking and re-writing procedures have been concluded, we confidently expect the above statistics to improve somewhat. Our current Matriculants will also realise the importance of hiking the Bachelors pass rate back into the nineties! The Matrics of 2015 will know what is expected of them. Show us what you CAN do this year!

Aggregates do not form part of the Department's reporting procedure, but no fewer than 41 of our Grade 12 candidates attained a pass level equivalent to Full Academic Colours (‘A’-aggregates) at Grey: Jason Evezard, Ruan Bellingan, Arno du Toit, Gary Kibble, Zalin Strydom, Hentie Huisamen, Anthony Abrahamson, Greg Kotze, Josh Parker, HP Duvenhage, Stefan Ungerer, Bram Thorpe, Joshua Newton, Travis Clarke, David Baker Effendi, Kofi Nyarko, Stanley Davenport, Matthew Nom Chong, Shaun King, Pierre Stemmett, Bryce Howarth, Christopher Reid, Michael de Marco, Stuart Hyde, Jateen Nagar, Tiaan Coetzee, Mvume Mdidimba, Matt King, Hans Putziger, Ross Anderson, Josh Loyson, Tristan Comley, Jason Howarth, Theo Swart, Lee Stevens, Ryan Burmeister, James Burmeister, Ross Edwards, Ben Keeton, Dylan Warwick and Kyle Hibbert. These young men have every right to be very proud of their efforts.

Unofficially, based on aggregates of seven core subjects, Jason Evezard (eight distinctions from eight subjects written, including 99% for Mathematics and 86% for Advanced Programme Mathematics, not to mention 90s for Accounting, Information Technology and Physical Sciences) was our top candidate, closely followed by Ruan Bellingan (seven out of seven) and Arno du Toit (seven out of eight). Messrs Gary Kibble (7/8), Zalin Strydom (5/8), Henthi Huisamen (5/7), Anthony Abrahamson (7/7), Greg Kotze (5/7) and Josh Parker (5/7) also achieved excellent results.

There were, in total, 233 subject distinctions (18 in Mathematics, 14 in English Home Language, 19 in Physical Sciences, 26 in Accounting, 17

in Life Sciences, 19 in History, 10 in Information Technology, 6 in Mathematical Literacy, 54 in Life Orientation, 5 in Music, 2 in Afrikaans Home Language, 16 in Afrikaans First Additional Language, 1 in isiXhosa First Additional Language, 7 in Business Studies, 3 in Computer Applications Technology, 5 in Engineering Graphics & Design, 8 in Geography, 2 in Advanced Programme Mathematics, 1 in Dramatic Arts) and the subject pass rate was an impressive 99.1% (1300 ex 1312)!

It is very pleasing to be able to record that, of the subjects written by Grey boys in 2015, 86.9% were passes in excess of 50%, and 94.7% were passes in excess of 40% - meaning to say that our 2015 group of Matrics did not really make significant use of that 30% (and much criticised) 'buffer'. To go even further, 70.1% of subjects written were passed with a mark of 60% or higher!

PROMOTION/PROGRESSION REQUIREMENTS

Grades 8 & 9 – candidates must offer the nine official GET subjects and pass eight (provided that the SBA component of the ninth subject has been completed); they must obtain 50% for English (or Afrikaans) Home Language, 40% for Afrikaans or isiXhosa First Additional Language, 40% for Mathematics, 40% in any three of the other subjects, and 30% in two of the remaining subjects. Immigrant learners may be exempted from passing their FAL, but that will count as their ninth (failed) subject – SBA requirements must be met. In all subjects, the SBA component and the final examination component will respectively count 40% and 60% of the promotion mark.

Grades 10/11/12 – candidates must offer seven subjects as prescribed (HL, FAL or second HL, Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy, Life Orientation plus three other subjects) and obtain 40% in three subjects (one of which is HL), 30% in three other subjects and a complete SBA component in the seventh (failed) subject. In most subjects, the SBA component and the final examination component will respectively count 25% and 75% of the promotion mark, except for Life Orientation (100% and 0% - externally moderated).

FET REGISTRATION & IDENTITY DOCUMENTS

This arduous registration process for Grades 9/10/11/12 is under way. It should be understood that, under FET regulations, a candidate's identity number is a vital part of this process – it is, therefore, essential that each Grey boy

Page 6: ‘keeping you informed and in touch’ From the Rector’s Desk … · 2019-05-09 · It is very pleasing to be able to record that, of the subjects written by Grey boys in 2015,

is in possession of his identity number (updated from the birth certificate, if necessary) from the earliest stage possible in high school.

All pupils, irrespective of grade, are urged to apply to Home Affairs for their ID books as soon as is humanly possible. The identity number is an integral component of Departmental registration, from as early as March of the Grade 9 year. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

SUBJECT CHANGES

In Grade 10 (2016), a maximum of two subjects may be changed, subject to the approval of the school and if it is deemed to be in the pupil's best interest to do so. The deadline for subject change requests is the end of the first week of the 3rd Term. However, the school would certainly not look favourably on a pupil wishing to change two subjects at this stage, because that would imply that little care was taken by the pupil and his parents with regard to his subject choice last year, at the end of Grade 9.

In Grade 11 (2015), the deadline of 29 February 2016 has already passed. Two subjects at most could have been changed.

In Grade 12 (2016), the deadline of 31 January 2016 has already passed. Only one subject could have been changed.

It is, therefore, imperative that parents and pupils ensure that sensible subject choices are made towards the end of Grade 9, as it may not be possible to do much about it a year or two down the line. It should be borne in mind that prospective changes may not be practicable because of internal factors such as class sizes and staffing issues.

ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL DURING EXAMINATIONS OR CONTROLLED TESTS (VERY IMPORTANT)

Parents are requested not to make holiday or other arrangements during scheduled sessions of examinations or controlled tests. It is an extremely disruptive practice and is very open to abuse. More than adequate notice is given in the first term calendar of exam dates so there is no reason for non-compliance. Furthermore, as detailed in the school rules (#24 – page 29 of school calendar; see also page 17), a medical certificate must be submitted after any period of absence during exams or controlled (grade) tests, the timetables for which are also to be found in the school calendar.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT

Full details regarding Academic Support classes were published in the Rector’s “Reflections” halfway through this term. They can also be accessed on the school website at http://www.greyhighschool.com/index.php/academics-a/academic-support

MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD All the top set mathematicians participated in the first round of the Maths Olympiad on 9 March 2016 and achieved excellent results. 69 Juniors (Grades 8 and 9) and 45 Seniors (Grades 10, 11 and 12) will be participating in the second round next term. GRADE 11 AND 12 CAREERS EVENING On 8 March Grey hosted a number of organisations for our annual Careers Evening for Grades 11 and 12. Our guest speaker was Mr Pieter Swart, Director of Marketing at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. Many faculties from NMMU participated. In addition to NMMU, other organisations took the opportunity to meet potential future students. These included Rhodes University, Varsity College, Damelin, Capsicum, Boston College and AFDA. Lastly, to give interested students a taste of what life would be like in these industries, BLC Attorneys and Deloitte were also represented on the evening. A number of our Sisters from Collegiate also supported our evening.

INTRAMURALS

The Clubs & Societies at Grey were hard at work during the 1st term, ensuring that important balance between mind, body and spirit! BALLROOM The commitment, leadership and enthusiasm of the new Dance Committee for 2016 - James Shepherd (Chairman), Michael Smith (Deputy Chairman), Miles Hardman, James Kriel, Thomas Adam and Todd Slabbert - has been evident throughout the first term. On a Monday evening, new members attend the beginners’ class where they get to experience new faces, enjoy social interaction and learn various interesting dances. Dance Club is an enjoyable experience for all and the society continues to grow in popularity amongst the Grey Boys and Collegiate Girls. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new members to the club and to wish James Shepherd and his Dance Committee success for the Inter-Schools Dance Competition to be held next term. BLOOD PEER PROMOTERS The first Blood Bank for the year took place on Monday 25 January, following a very informative Donor Education presentation by the SANBS on the preceding Friday. A total of 78 units was collected with Meriway being the house to record the highest number of units. The next Blood Bank will take place on Monday 11 April.

COMPUTER CLUB The Computer Club members started with software development where the boys created interactive games using Scratch. Scratch is a programming language learning environment enabling beginners to get results without having to learn syntactically correct writing first. They also took part in the online Talent Search contest (organised by the Computer Olympiad – a project of the Institute of IT Professionals South Africa). It is a widely used free computational thinking aptitude test which will help with school subject and career choices. The Talent Search, known as the Bebras Contest in many European Countries, is a popular contest, attracting around one million participants worldwide. FILM CLUB Members of the Film Club have been hard at work on shooting and producing their first assignment – an original music video, the subject of which is their school. These videos will be formally assessed by AFDA in Port Elizabeth, and feedback given to the boys next term. FIRST AID Once again the year has started off with a bang. We currently have 40 pupils doing their Level 1 and 10 pupils doing their Level 3 qualifications. Many thanks must go to the pupils for all the behind-the-scenes work. Best wishes to James Shepherd and his Committee for the upcoming winter season GREY PULSE Grey Pulse has once again been very involved this term. Aldo Bellingan is an excellent chairman and ensures the smooth running of this important society at Grey. The Grey Pulse men were involved in the Grade 8 Parents’ Evening and also helped at the Annual Open Days. They also helped at the Proms ‘neath the Tower hosted by the Music Department. Grey Pulse also had a social braai to welcome new Pulse boys to the club.

GREY MATTER The Grey Matter team had an influx of eight new reporters this term, expanding the club to 18 keen and dedicated members, each bringing his own ideas to the table. The boys were quick out of the starting blocks, receiving article topics from hard-working Editor, Mitesh Navsaria, early on in the term. As usual, Term 1 is populated with many events, so this early approach allowed reporters adequate time to send out their feelers and submit a number of written pieces. Grey Matter Design Editor, Gerhard Woithe, and the Editor have worked hard to compile this term’s publication. All members have sacrificed

many hours to deliver the current committee’s second issue. The boys hope that this term’s edition will be well-received and enjoyed by all. GREY PRESERVATION SOCIETY Members ran a dogfood and blankets collection, and gathered 300kg of food. This was delivered on Saturday 5 March to the Animal Welfare Society. The dogfood, especially, was very welcome. The club members, as well as some of their friends from other schools, then proceeded to walk the dogs. Members who took part were Luke Rudman, Marno Groenewald, Ross Whittle, Thomas Pearson, Cullen Enslin, Keegan van Rooyen and Gerhard Woithe. GREY UNION Grey Union has been at it again. As a very busy and involved term comes to an end, it allows one to reflect proudly on the involvement of the young men involved in this prestigious society. Four community projects were ear-marked for our attention. In the “Change for Cancer” (Barney Toilet) drive, where Grey boys were asked to donate their spare change for this extremely good cause. The venture was a success with the Grey boys donating handsomely. Valentine’s Day cards and roses were successfully sold and delivered to our sister school. This was particularly well supported as long-stemmed roses found their way to Collegiate High School. The Loaves and Fishes Community Project saw the Grey Union committee request tinned food to be brought to school for collection. This project was run for a week and no fewer than 600 tins were collected for this worthwhile cause. A special thank-you to all the boys for their support of this venture. Finally, Grey Union once again became involved in the CANSA RELAY – with no fewer than 11 of our members camping out. A special thank-you to Chairman, Bonga Masola, Vice-chairman, Travis Outram, and the entire committee for the time and energy they have put in this term. Several big projects are on the cards for the next six months and we know that the Grey boys will once again support these ventures. We have been suitably impressed by the manner in which our community has pulled together and has shown that the “Ubuntu” concept is alive and well.

SCA The SCA has had a very busy first term. We started with a welcoming event for our Grade 8’s, which was a fun afternoon, held on Friday 22nd January. The SCA Committee organised games with the Grade 8s, which included a photo chase around the campus. We held group sessions where the Grade 8s introduced themselves to each other and chatted about relevant issues. After this, we finished with a short worship session. We have continued with the mentorship period on Thursdays before first break. Our senior SCA Committee members and Prefects have willingly given up their time to lead these groups. The idea is for every single Grade 8 to have a senior leader who can care for and support and guide him through the challenges of Grade 8. At 14:00 on Friday 11th March, we embarked on our 24-hour charity relay marathon, Laps for Hope, where 120 of our Grey men gave up 24 hours of their time to run and raise funds for our beneficiary, the ‘Enabling Dreams’ Project, managed by the NMMU SRC and University management. We would like to thank all parents and sponsors who offered time, food and money to support us in this huge undertaking. Without each one of you, Laps for Hope would be an impossible dream for our SCA. Sincere thanks to Mrs Linda Carr for her organization and to all our willing parents and helpers for ‘making it all happen’! OUTDOORS CLUB On Saturday 12 March Mr Brian Jacobs and our new committee members of the Outdoors Club travelled to the Storm’s River Mouth section of the Tsitsikamma National Park. The day was spent hiking, snorkelling and planning events for the year. PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY The first term saw the commencement of the Advanced Photography Course, which consists of weekly lessons focusing on the fundamentals of digital photography. This group comprises approximately 20 members who have committed to a year-long course in which they will be taught how to use their cameras as well as the necessary skills to become photographers at Grey High School events. The approach to this course is that of an ‘extra subject’ as they are required to attend all lessons, and will produce practical work for assessment and grading. As of term 2, the society will commence with regular ‘insta-meets’ which will be run by our senior photographers who will work with junior and beginner photographers in order to develop their knowledge and appreciation of this creative skill.

PRESIDENT’S AWARD SOCIETY In February Ms Phakama Nyakaza, Project Co-ordinator of the Eastern Cape, hosted one of our meetings, and provided important information to participants. The meeting had a very good turn-out and resulted in a number of new enrolments. This term there have been seven new enrolments for Gold, three for Silver and three for Bronze. Luke Bowers, James Kriel, Matthew Woods and Jonathan Southwood will be participating in a hike at the Assegaai Trail over the holidays. The hike has been organised by the Eastern Cape Office of the President’s Award and will count towards their Adventurous Journey as required by the programme. QUIZ CLUB The Grey High School Quiz Club has attended 3 quiz league fixtures. League fixtures take place every second Tuesday. The league consists of Grey, Collegiate Girls’ High School, Alexander Road High School, St Dominic’s Priory, Muir College, Riebeek High School, Theodor Herzl, DF Malherbe, Pearson High School and Victoria Park. Grey hosted the fixture on 23 February. The Grey team is currently placed second in the league. Nikhil Riga has been appointed Chairman of the club. SURFING CLUB The Surfing Club had two outings to Pollock Beach. The club seems to be growing rapidly with more than fifteen Grade 8 boys joining the outings. During the first outing to Pollock Beach we assessed the newcomers. The biggest group of surfers supporting the club is the Grade 9 boys. Messrs Lyell Watson and Jonathan Cherrington had their hands full with all the new Grade 8’s wanting tips on how to improve their surfing. At the end of February we organised with The Bay Surf School to teach our boys to surf. Eight boys arrived amid the military training that took place at the beach front. The Bay Surf School has also agreed to offer a judging course to us next term. A number of our surfers attended the EP Surfing trials and Longboard trials. Mr Lyell Watson also competed in these trials. Next term we are planning to spend a weekend in St Francis with about 8 of our surfers. Hopefully, the cold fronts will arrive early to produce some swell. At this stage we are planning to surf against Wynberg and Selborne.

BASKETBALL The 2016 season has been one of near misses and hard lessons learned. Through it all the Grey boys gave it their all. Special thanks must go to the coaches, Mr Alfonzo Coleen (1st) and Mr Eugene Botha (U16A), for all their efforts this term. Latest results: U19 Kingswood College Basketball Tournament 1st 38 pts vs St Andrew’s College 2nd 20pts 1st 39 pts vs Nombulelo High School 1st 9 pts Semi-Final: Grey 1st 13 pts vs Kingswood College 1st 17 pts GOLF Regional Golf Finals The Grey First Team took part in the first round of the regional finals on Friday 26 February at Wedgewood Golf Estate. The First Team competed against Nico Malan and Daniel Pienaar to determine the regional winners in the Eastern Province. The team, consisting of Jonathan Southwood (Captain), Andrew Jeffrey, Reece Coleman and Lumi Mantshiyo, played excellent golf in extremely tough conditions with the wind blowing up to 60km per hour. Reece Coleman played particularly well and finished the day on one over par, giving the First Team a healthy lead of 7 shots over Nico Malan in second place. However, the day belonged to Andrew Jeffrey, who managed a hole-in-one on the 12th hole. This is the first hole-in-one in the history of the school’s league. Well done, Andrew! The second and final round took place on Monday 29 February. The entire team played exceptionally well and produced their best team total for the past four years, extending their lead to beat Nico Malan by 15 shots. The team will now represent their province at the National final in East London in August. Congratulations, again, to Andrew Jeffrey who retained the trophy he won last year as the best individual player in the school’s league. Cradock Invitational Golf Tournament We took part in the Cradock Invitational over the weekend of 4 March. Fourteen teams, consisting of four players per team, competed in an A- and B-Section

respectively. The A-section was played using a Medal competition off scratch handicaps and the B-Section used a Stableford competition off 18 handicaps. The Saturday format for the B-section started with a 9 holes Better Ball Scramble Drive. The Grey 3rd Team, consisting of Corné Slabbert (Captain), Douw Steenkamp, Dylan Scholtz and Kieran Walsh, dominated from the start and led the Grey 4th Team by 9 shots and Framesby 2nd Team by 15 shots. The afternoon round was an 18 holes Better Ball format. The 3rd Team extended their lead and ended the day on 139 points with the 4th Team on 113 points and Cradock High School on 97 points. The final round on Sunday was an 18 holes Scramble Drive Individual Stableford format with the best three individual scores in each team to count. The 3rd Team extended their lead to end the tournament on 278 points with the 4th Team in second place on 231 points and Cradock High School in 3rd place on 185 points. The Saturday format for the A-Section started with 9 holes of Foursomes. The 1st Team, consisting of Jonathan Southwood (Captain), Andrew Jeffrey, Reece Coleman and Lumi Mantshiyo, started well and took a one-shot lead with Daniel Pienaar in second place. The afternoon format was 18 holes of Better Ball. The competition was tough, but they managed to hang on to their one-shot lead, ending the day on 234 shots with Daniel Pienaar one shot back on 235 and Port Alfred High School in third place on 249 shots. The Sunday format was 18 holes of Singles with only the best three individual scores to count. The Grey side dominated the round from the start and never looked back. The 1st Team finished on 461 shots with Daniel Pienaar in second place by 11 shots and Port Alfred High School in third place by 36 shots. AFFIES Tournament We wish our 1st Team all the best for the upcoming Affies Tournament that will take place in Pretoria from 29 March to 1 April. ROWING The Rowers travelled to Pretoria over the weekend of 4 – 6 March to compete in the SA Schools’ Championships. The progression from heats to finals is extremely difficult, in that crews often have to be placed first out of 8 boats in a heat; 1st or 2nd; or in the top 4 of each heat to progress to a final. In some categories there were 40 – 50 boats. Our boys rowed their hearts out with true Grey grit and determination in the thin Gauteng air. The best results were:

Under 19’s 2nd VIII – 5th in the 1st VIII heats (6:48) 1st Quad – 6th (6:37) & 10th (7:07) & 12th (7:14) 1st Doubles – 8th (7:33) & 11th (7:18) 1st Sculler – 18th and 28th out of 53 entries

Under 16’s U16A Quad – 3rd in heat, missing the final by 1 second U16A Double – 5th (7:53)

Under 15’s U15A Octopul – 8th (3:27) U15A Quad – 5th in heat, missing the final by 8 seconds U15A Double – 3rd in heat, missing the final by 2 seconds

TENNIS All three teams were entered into the PE and Districts High Schools Tennis Association’s leagues during the First Term and had a successful round of matches – we are eagerly awaiting the final results. Our 1st Team, together with Collegiate’s 1st Team, travelled to East London to take part in the Selborne/Clarendon Mixed Tennis Tournament. Playing against five other teams, they comfortably won their first 4 encounters. However, the final match against the hosts, Selborne/Clarendon, was rained out without a ball being served. Results from our encounter against St Andrew’s College: 1st Team won 8 – 4; U15A won 7 – 2 and U15B lost 2 – 7.

Congratulations to Josh van Rensburg, Gareth Howell, Joel van Rensburg, Luke Stuart, Cody Coombe-Davis and Mfundo Mabula, who were all selected for Eastern Province Teams during the course of the First Term. SWIMMING Our swimmers acquitted themselves very well at the recent Pearson Prestige Short Course Invitational Gala achieving 15 1st places, 14 2nd places and 8 3rd places. Congratulations and well done to all our swimmers. WATERPOLO A thoroughly enjoyable and successful term of Waterpolo has come to an end. The Grey League and Tuesday night Collegiate League featured many of our sides and the results were most satisfying. We managed to achieve a very high percentage of favourable results – well done to the various teams. Our U14A side, coached by Mr Byron Schmidt, completed a very successful term – dropping only one match to the Selborne side in the final of the Jason Murray Tournament. The U15A side went one better and completed a clean sweep in all their matches. They are a very talented and hard-working group who, under the guidance of coach, Mr Cameron Johnson, have really excelled this term. Captain, Ricky King, has led from the front and received superb support from the team. Our 2nd Team has enjoyed a very successful term – they competed in the Oakhill Chukka Festival in Knysna and emulated last year’s success by returning unbeaten. They gave a really good account of themselves whilst taking part in the St Andrew’s Plate Competition – losing out only to the Pearson and Kingswood 1st Teams. Congratulations to coach, Mr Zaine Marx, and Captain, Richard Rautenbach, on an impressive outing. Our 1st Team has had a tough start to the season. A young and relatively inexperienced team has been well led by Captain, Joshua van Zyl. We have unfortunately not always followed through at big tournaments despite defeating fancied sides during the initial pool stages. The 1st Team competed in the King Edward VII Waterpolo Tournament –

arguably the toughest schools’ tournament in the country. We began well by defeating St Andrew’s Shield winners, Bishops, by 4 goals to 3. We also defeated Hilton College during the pool stages before coming second to a determined host team. Losses to Clifton (12-7) and DHS (6-5) during the playoff stages saw us having to be content with 8th place. The 4th term brings with it the U14 Rondebosch and Grey College Tournaments; the prestigious U15 Ian Melliar Tournament and the 1st Team SACS Knockout Tournament. We look forward to our boys testing themselves against the best Waterpolo-playing schools in the country. Jason Evezard, our Deputy Head Prefect and Dux scholar last year, has been selected to the Men’s South African Waterpolo Team and will be playing in Italy early next month in the Olympic qualifiers – a phenomenal achievement! Congratulations, Jason!
