Romanoff.

1936
Report on discovery of cisterns during
construction of what is today Weizman Street as it entered the Old City near
Jezzar's Mosque.
Cistern was built of sand stones and vaulted in barrel shape. Measure 6.30 m. long by 2.25 m wide by 4.20 m deep from inside. Plastered with local lime and pottery and has four nearly equal openings for water through the roof. The northern wall contains a small butress that projects towards the
interior for 30 cm. Makhouly comments
that the butress looks of late date and is probably as old as the present
walls at circa 100 years.
