Developed 50 year forecasts for specific commodities that move on the Mississippi River System for United States Army Corps of Engineers. The baseline forecast was developed into five scenarios that identified a framework procedure, the analytics to evaluate impacts, and defined scenario parameters.

Provided for American Commercial Lines a “non-grain” service that includes analysis on coal, steel, fertilizer, salt, cement, and iron ores, and the transport of these products and commodities by mode and type of barge. The service is long-term in nature with outlooks of 3-5 years, updated quarterly. Monthly updates focus on recent industry news and policy updates, production and consumption trends, transport trends – barge movements, etc.

Produced a monthly report that analyzes the United States macro economy.

Completed intensive industry reports on oilseeds, oilseed crushing industry, soapstock, Canadian livestock, corn, cotton, cottonseed, strawberries, potatoes, sweet potatoes, white corn, pineapples, aquaculture, barges, micronutrients, and fertilizer.

Forecasted the World Bank macroeconomic baseline projections.

Evaluated how rapidly expanding fertilizer production in Iowa impacts fertilizer moves for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad.

Evaluated the impact of trans-fat free oil consumption trends on the US and Canadian vegetable oil markets on multiple occasions for Dow Chemical.

Headed an extensive multi-client study addressing the future of the North American feed complex that included ten-year forecasts of the drivers in the feed industry, the profitability of the feed industry, and a complete evaluation of the separate feed ingredients.

Evaluated all the terminals on the Mississippi River System in terms of potential profitability in conjunction with Growmark Transportation Services’ current terminalling operations.

Evaluated the South American barge market in terms of infrastructure, potential demand, and current size. Based on forecasts of commodity flows and the current size of the fleet, future fleet size estimates were made for Trinity Marine.

Evaluated for Waterways Council, Inc. how the proposed change in how the Dams and Locks are funded would impact the Mississippi River System in terms of overall health of the whole system, commodities moved, and select industries that are heavily dependent of the river.
