The Albany CentreThe Albany Learning and Conference Centre is operated by Glasgow Council forthe Voluntary Sector. Its main role is to provide a dedicated development centre forGlasgow’s voluntary sector organisations. The Albany Centre also functions as avenue for meetings, events and conferences.

The Enterprise Growth FundThe Albany Centre Community Programme is supported by theEnterprise Growth Fund, a Scottish Government Fund. The Fundaims to make strategic investments in ambitious and enterprisingthird sector organisations across Scotland enabling them to develop,grow and become more sustainable.

Create great states and bouncebackability with NLPNLP is an incredibly powerful discipline that works from the premise that life doesn’thave to be difficult! No matter how well we are doing in life, we all know somewheredeep down that life could be easier, better, more enriching! This special, one dayworkshop will teach you how NLP and gentle hypnosis techniques can help youto create the mind-states that you desire.

Broken Biscuits Cookery Club: with Tom ShieldsJournalist and food-lover Tom Shields hosts the first ‘Broken Biscuits CookeryClub’. So-called because it is a community project on a tight budget supportedby help from local businesses. Families are invited to come together to find outabout tasty food through lively demonstration and some hands-on experience- followed by a convivial meal and compulsory conversation!Date: Saturday 17th November, 11am - 2pmCost: £10 (parent and child ticket)

Weight Loss ChallengeJoin the 10 week Weight Loss Challenge and find the inspiration to achieve yourweight loss goals. Violence against disabled womenWise Women pro-actively address women's fears and experiences of violenceand crime by providing free workshops to women living in local communities inGlasgow. This presentation is particularly useful to services working with dis-abled people and those working with issues surrounding discrimination, violenceand abuse. Wise Women are also leading a number of personal safety work-shops and presentations at The Albany in February / March 2013.Date: Saturday 26th January 2013 1pm – 3pmCosts: Free

Musical Theatre – actingthrough singing

Spanish ClassesA six-week Spanish language course for beginners. Learnessential conversation skills, including greetings, personalinformation, family, and food and drink. Ages 14 +Led by Helen Lobit.

Broaden your horizons

British Sign LanguageThe aim of this course is to introduce you to BSL andDeaf culture at basic level, including the concept offingerspelling and basic conversation in BSL.Ages 14+. Led by Clare Canton.

Dates: Saturdays for six consectutive weeksstarting 10th November 10am – 1pm

Cost: £100 for a 6 week block.Pay in advance by cash or cheque.

6Let your hands do the talking

Dates: Thursdays for six weeks from 15th November 6:00pm – 8:00pmCosts: £5 per session

This course will look at the links between dramaand singing, using some of musical theatre's bestknown repertoire. (Les Miserables, Phantom, Cats,Evita etc)

The sessions are suitable for experienced and non-experienced singers alike. All you need is a love ofsinging and musical theatre! It will end with a sharingfor friends and family. Ages 14+. Led by Rona Topaz.

Dates: Thursdays for six consecutive weeks(starting 8th November) 6:30pm – 8pm

Universal Comedy workshopsComedy workshops for people with ill health (physical/mental) aimed at improving confidence andself-esteem and enabling participants to see the funny in situ-ations. The sessions are coordinated by Universal Comedy –a charity and social enterprise based in Finnieston, Glasgow.

Learn about creating comedy material from your own experiences, how to structurecomedy material, writing jokes, performance tips and where to progress to if youwant to continue writing/performing following these workshops. Tutored byprofessional stand-up comedians Steven Dick and Viv Gee the sessions willprovide plenty of opportunities to try out your developing comedy material in asupportive environment and will also be a right good laugh!

Dates: every Tuesday, starting 6th November(except holidays - see page 10) 7pm – 8.30pm

The Centre for Open Studies delivers courses for adults andday events in a wide range of subjects on and off campus in Glasgow and theWest of Scotland. Their aim is to make our courses accessible to all regardlessof background and personal circumstances.

Reminiscence Sessions at the Albany CafeMeet with other members of the community to share stories and memories, overa cup of tea and a cake at The Albany Cafe. Each session will centre around adifferent themed ‘Reminiscence Kit’ provided by Glasgow Museums.
