Win a $50.00 gift card Last Friday the children received a survey to complete and return to school. The survey is to let us know your thoughts on the programs and interventions taking place in the school. All surveys returned will go into a draw to win a $50.00 gift card from Kmart. This survey is very important as it will help guide our planning for the next three years.

Christmas Hampers We will being having our Christmas Hamper raffle again this year. We are asking for donations of items for our hampers. Could you please send into school some non-perishable items for our hampers. All children bringing in donations will be given tickets in the draw. Ticket books will go out next week. Please help raise money for your children by donating to the hamper.

Kinder Orientation Kinder Orientation is on again tomorrow at 9.15am. Our new kindergarten children are loving spending time in Mr Mack’s class with this year’s kindergarten and their Year 5 buddies. If you are aware of anyone who will be attending Albert Park next year but as yet has not been in contact with the school, please let us know.

For all year 6 students attending High School next year there will be two orientation days held at the three local high school. The first day is Wednesday 26th November 2014. Students will be expected to make their own way there and home at the end of the day. It is our understanding that Lismore High School, Richmond River High School and Kadina High School will all hold their orientations on the same days. The second day will be Friday 5th December 2014, again students will be expected to make their own way there and home at the end of the day. For more information regarding this please contact the high school your child will be attending.

Live Life Well – Why Connect at School?

They can be scary places, not just for children. It’s about knowing that you will get support, that you will be listened to, and that you can work together with school staff to help your child learn and develop.

Children find it easier to understand what is expected from them and are better able to manage.

They may develop fewer behaviour problems and possibly do better at school.

This flows into home as the parents know about the activities in the school and the learning expectations and they can support their child better at home.

The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) is a national program that is funded by the Australian Government. By having a friendly volunteer visit at least once a fort-night, the program aims to enrich quality of life for older people living at home who may experience social isolation or loneliness.

Visits are relaxed and social in nature; the aim of the CVS is to improve the quality of life for an older person by providing friendship, companionship and a link to the community.
