Mary Elizabeth Wakefield, is the internationally recognized au-thor of the book, Constitutional Facial Acupuncture (Elsevier UK, 2014). She is an acclaimed teacher, an acupuncturist, an herbalist, Acutonics® and Zen Shiatsu practitioner, cranio-sacral therapist and a professional opera singer. Mary Elizabeth is ac-knowledged to be the leading international authority on facial acupuncture. She has created 20 innovative educational semi-nars that emphasize a constitutional approach to this modality. Ms. Wakefield contributed an ongoing column on facial acu-puncture and related topics for 9 years to Acupuncture Today magazine, and has also written for the CA Journal of Oriental Medicine (CJOM) and Oriental Medicine Journal. An opera singer, classical composer, pianist, astrologer, healer, diviner and writer, MichelAngelo was a presenter at the 2011 Conference of the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energy and Energy Medicine (ISSSEEM). His article featuring a medical astrological analysis of Elvis Presley’s birth chart from both a Western and Chinese medical perspective was published in the 2016 Fire issue of Oriental Medicine Journal, his third astrological article to be published by OMJ. A fourth piece on pop star, Prince, and his death, will appear in the 2017 Fire issue.

He has created a 3-part certification series, Planetary Vibration-al Medicine, in which he synergizes Western medical astrology with Oriental medicine theory and practice, introducing a va-riety of vibrational methods of remediation (gem elixirs, tuning forks) to address constitutional balance and imbalance as it is reflected in the Western natal chart and identified through other astrological diagnostic strategies.

From 2006-13, MichelAngelo served as Advisor, Astrological Medicine & Musical Studies, to Acutonics® Institute of Inte-gral Medicine, LLC. He was the principal creative collabora-tor, co-instructor and co-creator of advanced training seminars with sound healing pioneer Donna Carey. He is a co-author of the ground-breaking advanced level treatise, From Galaxies to Cells: Planetary Science, Harmony and Medicine (Devachan Press, 2010), to which he contributed information on the musi-cal components of the Acutonics® system, as well as informa-tion on planetary archetypes and classical music.

The essential 1-Day seminar for learning how to treat your patients’ scars, which can improve your clinical outcomes!

Scars are the causes of prolonged effects that an injury or surgical site continues to have on the body. Despite the outward appearance of heal-ing, patients continue to suffer from the residu-al impact of scar tissue formation long after the initial trauma/surgical trauma, and experience chronic pain and disability, both physical and psychological. They may frequently suffer dis-comfort in areas and bodily systems far removed from the actual site of the scar, and often find little relief in receiving conventional treatments.

Western medicine is particularly effective when addressing the impact of acute trauma, but med-ical orthodoxy regards the formation of a scar as the end result of the process, rather than an interim phase on the road to a more complete recovery from the injury. Consequently, there are few strategies in place for alleviating the long-term effects of these disturbances of the skin and underlying tissues.

Research indicates that acupuncture lessens the pain of the scar, breaks up adhesions, which pull on the organs, tissue and muscles, and re-generates the nerves and tissues. Acupuncture needling increases circulation and facilitates ox-ygenation of the cells in the affected area, having far reaching effects on the systems impacted by the disturbance created by the scar.

Western astrological medicine views the body as a plan-etary landscape, assigning to its structural constituents, processes and pathologies, specific astral signatures. The astrological natal chart has historically been examined for evidence of the type of constitutional disharmony that would be familiar to an acupuncturist, or other practitioner of Oriental medicine. This might be evidenced by elemental balance/imbalance of the 4 Western elements, “negative” aspects between planets, large scale aspect patterns as in-dicative of specific syndromes, strength/weakness of indi-vidual planets, etc., as well as stresses brought about by ongoing planetary transits.

By contrast, Oriental medicine categorizes the human or-ganism as an arrangement of pathways of vital force (Qi), the meridians (and the points that comprise them) that link the various parts of the body and function as an integral aspect of the energetic structure. These meridians relate to organ systems, the Zang-fu, which do not necessarily correspond with Western medicine’s physiological and bio-logical organs, but nevertheless share some of the same as-sociations. Human anatomy and functioning as illustrated via the meridian network is indeed sophisticated and many faceted, presenting the practitioner with a topography of incredible complexity and poetic resonance.
