Aldersgate Church A United Methodist Congregation

“Reaching with the Heart of God for the Lives of Our Community”

Lent: Springtime for the Soul! March 26, 2017

In the season of “Lent,” we move thru the passion story of Jesus.

Invite God to help you to “take on” the ways of Jesus.

We Gather and Sing Because God is Glorious!

The Prayer of Disciples

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Giving God’s Tithes And Our Offerings “Then the people rejoiced because they had offered so willingly, for they

made their offering to the Lord with a whole heart …” – 1 Chronicles 29:9

Opening the Scriptures: Luke 14:25-35

The Sacrament of Baptism (11 a.m.) Arlo Everett Lenox, Child of God

Now, Grow … Be strength in a storm. Be peace in the valley.

Be Thanksgiving amidst clamoring want.

Be an Ambassador of Jesus each place Gods puts you!

Message Series: “Listen to Him!” … And Your Hearts Will Be Written Up For God.

Week 4 of 8 – “Some Serious Listening: When Following Jesus Isn’t Worth … Well,

Even a Pile of Manure” (Hey, Jesus said it.)

Aldersgate is a "Safe Sanctuary Church" What does that mean? “Safe Sanctuary” means that all ministry staff and volunteers working

with children or youth under age 18 (and vulnerable adults) have obtained the appropriate Pennsylvania and FBI criminal and child-welfare clearances, and have received direction for

compliance with Safe Sanctuary Policy of The United Methodist Church. Your children - God's children - are important to us! Any questions regarding Safe Sanctuary and how to obtain the

clearances, etc. can be directed to Jodie Dodson, Director of Children’s Ministries, who oversees Safe Sanctuary here at Aldersgate Church.

Stewardship of Our Financial Gifts & Our Presence for March 19, 2017

Together, We Give Faithfully Because Of God’s Great Faithfulness. Our $916,578 Spending Plan for Ministry in 2017 calls for weekly tithes and offerings of $17,626.50.

Our Year-to-Date Offerings = $204,736.96 Our Year-to-Date Projected Need = $211,518

Blood Drive - a Success! This was the best blood drive we’ve had in a long time! There were 38 people who offered their blood and 28 pints were collected. Thank you for all who came! Welcome Center Needs You! Do you have a heart for Ministry but limited time? Come join us at the Welcome Center! If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Tom Zeigler at 717-525-0955 or provide your name, email address and “Welcome Center” on the back of today’s Communication Card and put it in the offering plate. Join the Communion Team! All who are part of the worship life of AUMC are invited to consider joining the team that serves communion. Perfection is not a requirement! All that is needed is a love for God, and an understanding that we are all in need of His grace. Communion is offered monthly. If you wish to be a part of this team, email [email protected] or put your name, email address and "Communion Server Info" on the back of today’s Communication Card, and put it in the offering plate. Like to Knit or Crochet or Make No-Sew Blankets (or want to learn)? Aldersgate’s Wool and Flax group meets on Mondays at 6 pm and Wednesdays at 1 pm in Room 203. We offer instructions if you need it. Otherwise, just come for fellowship and prayer and bring your current project! If you have any questions, contact Sue Shockey at [email protected]

Thank you all for your kindness, prayers, and blessings while I was ill. Linda Watkins
