AlertMatrix,

GotoBlackBerryProfilesandediteachprofilethatyounormallyuse(Off,Quiet,Normal,

VibrateOnly,etc)andadjusttheAlertMatrixentriestocreatethedesiredtone,vibrations,etc.

OnceyouhavealertssetupinbothAlertMatrixandadjustedinBlackBerryProfiles,youare

readytoaddsomewatchRulesinAlertMatrix.

Youwillnoticethatasyouaddarule,itasksforthealertdefinitiontouse. Thiswilldetermine

thepriorityassigned(highpriorityalertsoverridelowerpriorityalerts)sopickingthe

appropriatepriorityisparamounttoachievingdesiredresults.

Onemoreimportantnoteistorearrangetheorderoftherules. Rulesareprocessedtopto

bottom. Whenamessagematchesarule,itignoresallrulesbelowthematchingrule.

1.4.Flowchart Operations

Onadailybasis,AlertMatrixisprimarilyusedfromtheglobalAlertpopoverwindoworfrom

theViewPendingandViewSnoozedeventlogs.

GlobalAlertMatrixPopOverAlert

Whenanotificationistriggered,analertwindowappearsontheBlackBerrywhiletones,

vibrations,

and

LED

lighting

are

triggered

as

defined

by

the

alert.

The

user

is

offered

a

number

ofoptionstodismiss,open,orsnoozetheevent.Mostprofessionalsusethepopoveralert

windowastheirprimaryinterfacetoAlertMatrixduringtheday.

ViewEventLogs

Eventlogsareavailableintheapplicationandareveryusefulwhenreviewingitemsthatcame

inpreviously,ortakingalookatitemsthatareabouttotrigger. Pressingtheenterkeyonany

itemopensapreview,fromwhereactionscanbeinitiated.

DelayAll

Plus

AlertMatrixofferstheabilitytodelaynotificationsbyprioritylevel. Thisenablesaccumulation

ofallnotificationsduringmeetingsandotherdonotdisturbeventswhilestillallowing

notificationscategorizedascriticaltotriggerasneeded.

2. Setting Up Alerts

2.1.AlertsOverview

AlertMatrixsetsupcustomalertprofilesthatdefinehowtheBlackBerrynotifiesyouofevents.

Severalsamplealertprofilesarecreatedwhentheprogramisfirstdownloadedandinstalled.

BlackBerryProfiles:

EachprofilecreatedinAlertMatrixhasacorrespondingprofileinsertedintostandard

BlackBerryProfiles(seeBlackBerryProfiles/Advanced/EditProfile). Finalmanagementof

ringtones,vibrationsettings,andLEDindicationaresetwithBlackBerryProfileManager,not

withinAlertMatrix.

AlertMatrixcannotforcefullysethowBlackBerryProfilesareinsertedandconfigureddueto

programapplicationinterfacelimitsintheBlackBerryoperatingsystem. Weadvisechecking

thesettingsoneverynewalertprofileinBlackBerryProfilesafteroneiscreatedwithin

AlertMatrix.

OverridingBlackBerryProfiles:

AlertMatrixincludes

several

additional

ring

tones

for

use

as

overrides

to

the

BlackBerry

Profile

Managersettings. Theseareusefulwhenapersonwantsatonetotriggerevenwhenthe

BlackBerrytonesaresettoOfforVibrateOnly.
