Since i started university my interests were divided between “KNOW WHY” and “KNOW HOW”, especially in architecture; i strongly believe a good building, in order to be considered as such, should refl ect these two thoughts.
I am looking for a stimulating job that would allow me to confront myself with diff erent realities (both European or non European), a dynamic working place and atmosphere that deals with various aspects of architecture and would widen my horizons and interests. I have 1 year and a half experience in project managing and I am very confi dent with computers.I really want to join your studio because I am sure it can enrich my knowledge and help me to improve my skills. I am ready to do my best to contribute with my personal expeience.I am curoious, hardworking, precise in everything i do, full of enthusiasm and able to work properly in a team, especially collaborating with people coming from other realities, diff erent than mine; in fact i believe a great project is hardly ever the fruit of just one mind. I speak Italian and i have a good level of English, French and Spanish, that i am ready to improove in order to communicate and work with your team in the best way possible. June 2011

The contemporary city, especially New York, becomes the action fi eld of shopping, with all the avidity with which it invades the city’s public space. Shopping represents a new “guideline” for the exploration of the city, places for commerce and fashion design become landmarks of the city and design instrument of its urban spaces. The subject of the workshop was to design the new “KORRES” head offi ce in New York. The project wishes to explore the potential of an ambiguous space, designed as commercial space but also cultural and public. The design process combining the way the company wanted to describe itself, with concepts of transparency and naturalness, and the respect of urban requirements for the presence of a small square. I designed a building of steel and glass PRIVA-LITE built following a spiral, a symbol of the natural cycle, in accordance with customer requirements. Each level hosts a requested function: shop, showroom, art gallery, spa, offi ces and lounge bar. By stairs and elevators, each level is connected but also separately accessible from outside.

The aim of the project was to work on relations between formal results of the building and its structural devices/constructive process. Especially, I tried to show that the construction technology and technical equipment may suggest spatial and formal confi gurations, that are directly involved in the design process of the building. The subject was the new FERRERO spa E.D.P. offi ce, a technical building for technical and computer devices made of three main parts: storage, computer and main frame rooms, head offi ce. The three guidelines of this project were: low-cost, fast construction and simple construction technology. I designed a simple and rational building made of three levels, one function each, cube shaped. Each level is organized as a square open space that allows a functional working area. In order to realize this confi guration all the services such as stairs, bathrooms, elevators and all the technicals devices were designed following a plug-in concept. A neutral main shape connected to all the other components. By doing so, i was able to use cheap, fast and prefabricated construction techniques in order to utilize, only in the façade, expansive materials such as aluminum and stainless steel.
In this way every services is plugged-in the main cube in order to create functional connections and workspaces.

The city of Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, is the only city in Europe to still be divided as a result of fi ghting. This division is atypical, is not a wall, not a clear division, but it is indeed an area of variable width from twenty to one hun-dred meters that divides Turkish Cypriots from the Greek Cypriots. So we have a situation of a porous space, built and abandoned, an area of the city. This division has no more sense because, through various glimpses, the people looki everyday for visual or physical contact.Based on that, the workshop consists of the design of ’’sensitive objects’’, as an approach to the arguments suggested by the site’s nature and inspired by the common characteristics of the two parts of the city.My project works on the concept of ’’similarities’’. Creating a relation with an existing old school, I design an abstract space composed of many elements, ‘’C’’ shaped, not equal but similar that could contain diff erent activities suitable for a school. For example, outdoor classrooms, spaces to play, or simply space to stop and rest.A multifunctional and fl exible space that allows people to live this part of the city during the entire day.

The library building for the new Cà Foscari University in Mestre is a part of the entire campus complex subject of competition.I worked with LAR (architectural design department) of IUAV university under the supervision of arch. Franca Pittaluga. The shape of the library and auditorium building comes from two concepts: fi rst, to organize the space around the void trough a continuous ramp and second, to take inspiration from an erlenmeyer for the building’s shape. The auditorium is placed on the underground level, having the entry from the main hall on ground fl oor.All the library fl oors are orga-nized around the ramp and the central void creating a kind of inverse “Guggenheim eff ect”.The entire structure is hidden and organized inside the exterior walls. The the columns are connected to a steel wheel located at 30 m. height. From this wheel are launched all the steel cables that support the slabs as well as the ramp.

My master degree thesis project is a socio-cultural centre in Rennes, the main city of Brittany, France. In this part of the city noticeable is the presence of three big urban “forces”: a new residential quarter, a commercial zone made of mall and offi ces and the rue de saint malo that connect Rennes to Saint Malo.My project is right in the middle of these 3 urban actors. I designed a com-plex of 4 separated buildings; each one divided in two parts:One part underground and another elevated in diff erent heights.I worked this way trying to connect the diff erent parts of this area, the residen-tial and the commercial one, with the design of a new landscape that wants to connect the two.My project wants to connect all these pieces in order to create a complex urban device that allows a direct con-nection between the two sides, also without the use of car.

Each building is dedicated to a diff erent function: music, connection/services, arts and CPA (centre for elderly people). In this portfolio i will only present the fi rst two.The fi rst building is dedicated to music. It consists of three separated spaces: at the level 0 is placed the auditorium, the offi ce and the entry to the music school’s classrooms placed at level 1.I designed and organized this space using three horizontal stripes, one for the services, one for the vertical connections and the last for the main functions. The project division in diff erent parts allows to create new fl ow access for the entire area and also to control the height diff erence between the street and the diff erent levels of the project.

This building is the connection bridge that unifi es the two zones theme of the project. In this building i placed 5 diff erent functions: bar, restau-rant, small conference rooms, exposition space and city hall offi ces for the new neighborhood. This building connects the two squares that organize the diff erent functions, and unify two diff erent parts of the city (residential block and commercial side).Structurally the building works as a bridge with two big concrete col-umns that contain all the vertical connections. The structure of the upper part of the building consist of two big reticular beams 5 m. high that hold all the functions.

urban stage’s relative proportions to other icons
The concept of this building is simple but strong. We work in order to create an iconic URBAN STAGE. All the shops, located at the ground level, and the commercial part of the project work like a direct con-nection from the city to the main level of the building where we can fi nd the open stage for the concert. The site is still divided in two by the existing highway but in the same time is connected by the main building. In this “red cube” we placed all the required function. Storage, main hall and live houses. After we use the glass volume of the restau-rant, hall of fame and offi ces in order to create the big umbrella that allow to use the urban stage all over the year.

The site of this project is a rectangle 200x5 m. Really thin and long. Starting from this limit we de-sign the house in order to have natural light in every room. At the level one we placed the social spaces like kitchen, living an the exterior terrace (protected by the building himself ). Starting
from the level 2 the rooms. The main bedroom with terrac e is the last one. An importan part of the house is the roof. A big stair, with a system of three terraces used like open living rooms, end with a fantastic viewpoint to the sea.

Seen from the city SEM will appear as a classic shape with an organic pattern. A folded curtain wall shades the building from the sun and creates a comfortable interior climate. The folds create special niches and unique spaces inside the offi ce fl oors as well as on street level around the building. The traditional curtain wall glass façade has a low insulation level and leaves offi ces overheat-
ed by direct sunlight. The result, excessive air conditioning consumption for air conditioning as well as the need for heavy glass coating that makes the view seem permanently dull and grey. By combining maximum daylight exposure with minimal sunshine exposure and using integrated ways of limiting the need for cooling SEM serves a model for the 21st century sky-scraper and energy headquarters

The gallery will be one common exhibition space that can be divided into many smaller gal-leries and accommodate changing exhibitions, but will clearly and unambiguously collect all Greenlandic and cirkumpolare artistic expression under one roof. With its urban location and direct connection to landscape and nature there will be a rich opportunity to incorporate the Greenlandic nature as well as the surrounding urbanity. The National Gallery will be a sym-
bolic tool in the continuous contribution for political independency. Since the introduction of the home rule and latest autonomy the Greenlanders and Greenlandic artists have been occupied with the question about Greenlandic identity and independency. The building will with its simplistic coarseness and harmony with the landscape become a symbol of the cur-rent independent Greenlandic artistic and architectural expression.

The offi ce building is formed with two stacked volumes and it is the highest point of the ensemble. In the bottom of the block of housing construction continues. The tower is east-west aligned ideal for an offi ce building, as less needs to be shaded west and east facade The ground fl oor is in direct connection with the plaza oriented to the sea. At the groud fl oor we locate an attractive lobby and the stacked volume act to create a covered porch. With a direct view to the water there is also a restaurant still in the ground fl oor.The facade

The facade elements are in a staggered brick pattern and emphasize the tectonics of the building com-position. The outer skin of the offi ce tower is formulated slightly diff erent depending on the orientation. The south facade is designed as self shading, East, West and North are fl ush glass panels. The building of KLU is designed so that it both in its fi rst phase and in the fi nal form is com-pleted and does not occur as a fragment. The rotation of the body produced in the building fl oor plan has a hexagonal fi gure. The asymmetrical arrangement of the atrium air space in all three areas results in 3 identicalAn important element in the planning of KLU is the subdivi-sion in phases. This is determined by the Promoter that each functional area of the university is expanding. In the second phase, therefore, the compact Baukorpus the fi rst phase is exactly these required areas is extended, directly after the function. The particular shape of the building KLU based on this concept of extensibility. On each short
side of the building structure, the building is equally extended and changed into a new, self-referential character. The extension elements themselves can be are prefabricated to a large degree, and after re-moval of the modular front facade mounted in a short time. This is the internal function mini-mally aff ected and the extension aff ects the universityOperating in the short term only. The front facade elements can be reused. The interiors of the university are free to run based on the static necessary support. This allows maximum fl exibility of interior layout. Service rooms are centrally organized and compact.
