I was recruited to support the development of marketing plans for Netcall’s products and product concepts across the key market segments through research, competitive value analysis and developing effective market positioning in the Product Marketing section of the Marketing department within Netcall Telecom Ltd.

Since October 2012 I have worked on many projects ranging from producing internal training presentations, writing product sheets for new and updated solutions, project managing marketing campaigns and organising various events from beginning to end.My role has been varied and spanned across the many aspects of work covered in the marketing department giving me good experience of different tasks and projects.

Key markets for Netcall include the NHS, Local and Central Government and predominately contact centres within organisations in the private sector. Customers include Cineworld, Eurotunnel, EDF Energy, npower, over 70% of NHS trusts and over 50% of London local councils.

o Customer events to increase customer satisfaction and promote upsellingo Prospect events to increase market awareness and generate new leads and saleso Conducted webinars to showcase Netcall’s views on industry best practice

Most recently I have been working closely on a large project to completely rewrite the content for the Netcall website. This has involved rewriting the pages for each solution across the three sectors of Private, Public and Health. Each page has been written to a value proposition based concept to engage the reader and entice them to discover more about the solutions. This has also involved being trained how to use the website CMS (Yii), creating pages and then populating the pages with the content I created once proofed and accepted.

In the last 12 months I have been the main point of marketing support for the Health and Public sector sales team of approximately 10 people. This has required constant communication with the members of the sales team and the team manager to ensure projects are successful and delivered within the time limits.I have planned, organised and completed the following tasks

Produced product sheets for new and enhanced solutions such as ContactCentre 59R Enhanced Switchboard, Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub

Planned and completed email and calling campaigns for the NHS, Police, Local Government and Housing Associations sectors Produced PPT’s and new business development plans for Netcall’s sales teams to increases the chances of success Written a press release for an upgrade of an installed solution and migration to Netcall’s latest platform for a Police customer Organised and completed various events for Housing Associations, Local Government, Health customers and prospects

Working as part of an enthusiastic team has been very rewarding and I feel I have contributed to the success of many projects in my time at Netcall. Learning how to research, develop, organise, manage and evaluate a variety of projects has been an area of enjoyment for me but I also enjoy working on very in-depth and focussed projects for many weeks and sometimes months at a time.

Skills Gained and refined

Project management skills developed and refined across multiple assignments whilst managing the expectations of various stakeholders and delivering expected or above expected results and outcomes within the allocated time frames

Enhanced team work and communication across various members of the team whose input has been necessary to complete the projects I have been tasked with delivering

Presented project plans for the proposed tasks to senior members of staff to achieve approval and sign-off of budget for spending

Task prioritisation to ensure the most critical tasks are completed on time and to the desired level of quality

Examples of initiative and areas of increased responsibilities

I volunteered to take on a larger role then I was previously given in organising the 2013 Customer Events that Netcall runs every year in several locations around the UK. This was a major undertaking involving organising conference venues, staff travel and accommodation, developing staff and customer presentations, assisting with the smooth running of the events on the day itself and then analysing the post event feedback.

Shortly after joining Netcall the marketing department decided to create a large PowerPoint presentation that was more of an encyclopaedia, to allow account managers to confidently present all of Netcall’s 40+ solutions to prospects and customers.

I volunteered to take the primary role in creating the presentation; including writing the content by speaking to solution architects and other team members. I also trained all of the Health, Public and Private sector sales teams on the correct way to use and navigate through the presentation. This has been an on-going project as new account managers need training and the presentation requires updating as new solutions are released and enhanced.

An initiative was launched to evaluate the competitors across Netcall’s four major capabilities and I offered to lead the project. This included researching many competitors offerings, comparing these strengths and weaknesses to Netcall’s own solutions and interviewing the sales and solution architect teams for inside information to gain and maintain a competitive advantage.

Activities outside of my designated role

Since working at Netcall I have taken an interest in the out of work activities that Netcall tries to promote its employees to participate in.Due to my friendly persona and willingness to help I have been involved in organising various activities such as trips to an indoor ski centre, golf driving range, laser tag, crazy golf, various dinners out and tenpin bowling.

I believe this helpful attitude and reputation of being a team player was the reason the Sales Manager for the Health and Public sector sales team recently asked me to organise a celebratory night out for her team as a thank you for an excellent sales year. I really enjoyed the project as I felt the sales team truly deserved a fun experience and I was determined to help as much as I could. The event was a big success and it was very gratifying knowing I had helped increase the co-operation between the sales team, a very important factor to the teams overall success.

Marketing Assistant at Differentia Consulting Ltd – October 2010 – September 2012

I was recruited to assist with the marketing department within Differentia Consulting to carry out the plans explained in the annual marketing campaign. Differentia Consulting is an IT consultancy specialising in Business Intelligence and so the need to promote our business/brand in a very competitive and niche market is of the upmost importance. We use a combination of marketing techniques including brand management and promotion, direct focused marketing, various forms of electronic media such as LinkedIn and Twitter. We culminate a marketing campaign into hosting an event at the end to promote our software offerings to a wide range of business sectors including most recently the CPG, Construction & Property and Energies & Utilities industries.

Main tasks and activities

Assisting the marketing manager plan, coordinate and execute the annual marketing plan Researching which industries and business sectors to target and then market to by designing campaigns Deciding which events and exhibitions to attend in order to promote our software and consultancy offerings Organising and liaising with the venues to host a successful event Conducting post event analysis to determine areas of improvement

My main focus has been to assist the marketing manager which has involved researching suitable business sectors/industry’s to target, creating a customised marketing campaign for each sector , contacting potential customers via telephone, email, advertising in industry magazines and websites such as LinkedIn. Once a marketing campaign finishes I assist in organising an event in which prospective customers attend and we showcase our various software options and consultancy services. After the campaign and the event are finished I assist in conducting post campaign analysis to determine the overall success and establish which areas can be improved upon for the next time.

I have really enjoyed the challenge of bringing together a huge number of different elements to create and conduct the specific marketing campaign and that has refined my organisational and communication skills allowing me to be more efficient. Learning from the marketing manager and working as part of a team has been very rewarding and I have relished the pressure of operating to a strict deadline where many different elements all need to be combined.

Examples of initiative and areas of increased responsibilities

I volunteered to maintain the companies resource schedule for all our field consultants (35-40 individuals) since I joined the organisation in October 2010

I offered to single-handedly organise the companies 10th Birthday party for all our employees and consultants in July 2012

I have also accepted a large amount of responsibility within the company from an operational standpoint. I have been in control of the company’s overall resource schedule ever since I started at Differentia and offered to take over the management of it from the operational

manager. This involves updating the schedule that controls which client the business intelligence field consultants (circa 35-40) are working for at any given day and is kept and managed on Google Docs. This schedule needs to be 100% accurate as the clients/Differentia management are very unforgiving for any mistakes. I am tasked with organising the senior management’s team Outlook diaries to ensure their various meetings are correct and fully populated.I also of manage the relationship between Differentia Consulting and the main company Differentia provide custom training courses for in the business intelligence software that we also sell.

I also volunteered to host the companies 10th Birthday party (July 2012) for all our employees and field consultants which was a rounding success with tenpin bowling, a restaurant dinner and an overnight stay in a hotel. I achieved this with no issues or incidents, single-handedly with no assistance from anyone else and all within a carefully controlled budget.

Skills Gained and refined

Team work and communication: Working and communicating effectively within a team and the other organisation who we are working with to host the event.

Task Prioritisation: Managing many tasks simultaneously by determining which tasks are most time critical Attention to detail: Focusing on the smaller elements as well as the larger ones to ensure nothing is overlooked

Sales Assistant at Burston Garden Centre – June 2008 – August 2008

I was a salesperson in the Furniture Department in a garden centre called Burston’s Garden Centre of St. Albans between the 21st of June and 15th of August 2008 on a Full time hour’s basis but as a temporary member of staff per the contract. My duties included personally selling garden furniture and barbeques both of which had very high values ranging from several hundred to several thousand pounds for the highest quality wooden furniture sets. I was given extra training in customer service and was delighted to once again be able to give my customers a warm and personal experience in which I guided them through the whole decision making and final purchase. I also performed a stock check and dealt with many customer problems and questions on various issues without the need for senior members of staff. There were also times when I was required to operate the tills and perform under pressure to try and manage the long queues at peak times.

There was a fishery as part of the business and I was required to work there several times in which I learned large amounts of new information very quickly and enjoyed the challenge of performing fresh and different tasks.

Sales Assistant at John Lewis Watford Branch – September 2006 – August 2007

I worked at John Lewis Watford Branch from 2006-2007 in the Furniture Department. During my time at John Lewis I received extensive training on customer service, operating tills, dealing with money and selling techniques and strategies. During my daily activities I was charged with making sure each customer entering the department was served and I frequently aided in the cashing up of the tills at the end of the day and taking the money to the deposit area. The amount of understanding required for certain items was very high especially mattresses and this allowed me to really engage and interact with the customer on a personal level. I really enjoyed speaking to customers and it gave me huge satisfaction helping the customers with their goal of buying an item and tried to make their shopping experience more enjoyable.

Additional jobs

I have delivered thousands of Yellow pages and Thompson Local directories during 2007-2008 which proves that I am capable of doing very physical work and working long and tiring hours.

I worked at Motivation Marketing Chesham Buckinghamshire HP5 2PX multiple times during 2007-2008 which also involved very physical and tiring work such as handling boxes.

I have also worked at the Bedford Arms Hotel, Restaurant and Pub in Chenies Rickmansworth WD3 6EQ in 2005-2006. I was a waiter in the Restaurant and Pub and I also helped with the general running as I restocked the drinks fridges from the cellar, collected the ice, cleaned and cleared tables and helped in the kitchen when the need arose. I was given customer service training which I feel would help in any other situation where customer service was required.
