AUSTRALIA’S TEAM LEADERSHIP AWARD FOR STUDENTS Mt Waverley Secondary College Alex Malley FCPA This is an extremely admirable and spirited initiative, emblematic of CPA Australia’s own ‘be heard and be recognised’ ethos. Through Teach the Teacher, this team has successfully developed and maintained a culture of empowerment and open communication – the best kind of culture in any environment. Adding to this their ability to evolve the program more broadly through their activities with other schools, they’ve exhibited an abundance of creativity, borderless-thinking and passion, all of which are essential leadership qualities and most certainly impressive to see in a team of young people. Dr Susan Carland I am so impressed by this project. The fact that you not only created it, but then became the "model of best practice" to teach your model to other schools shows just how important and innovative it is. I know that teenagers so often feel people talk TO them but not with them, and that their voices aren't given the weight of adults, and your project addresses this powerfully. Well done! Dr Alan Duffy The successful adoption of Teach the Teacher has clearly been a valuable experience for both student and teacher alike. Indeed, alongside state-wide recognition of their efforts the greatest example of that success was when other schools attended a full day conference to learn how to implement it themselves. This programme is a wonderful example of having students own their education and environment, as a result of being empowered they are more engaged. Experience in organising the conference will have shown these students what they can accomplish and how persistence is required to drive through issues and achieve one's goal. When that includes reaching out to the local Mayor then you know that your students have reached a new level of self- confidence! Tanya Orman Leadership begins with the value of a voice and respecting the role of everyone in the team and what each individual brings to move forward to any goal. This project changed individuals, the school and the community of schools within the scope. Important skills where acquired and appreciated through this project.

D r S u s a n C ar l a n d I am so impressed by this project. The fact that you not only created it, but

then became the "model of best practice" to teach your model to other schools shows just how important and innovative it is. I know that teenagers so often feel people talk TO them but not with them, and that their voices aren't given

the weight of adults, and your project addresses this powerfully. Well done!

D r A l a n D u f f y The successful adoption of Teach the Teacher has clearly been a valuable experience for both student and teacher alike. When that includes reaching out to the local Mayor then you know that your students have reached a new level of self-confidence!

project changed individuals, the school and the community of schools within the scope. Important skills where acquired and appreciated through this

project.
