About Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory (ASMEF)

Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory LLC (ASMEF) is an interdisciplinarycompany offering complete services within the oil & gas and the petrochemicalindustries, new ship building, ship repair, rigs/jack up repair and upgrade, marine maintenance, and structural steel fabrication.

Group Managing Director Eng. Shamis established ASMEF to realize his vision of setting up a world class shipyard and oil & gas fabrication facility to be a major EPC contractor within the GCC. Established in 2009, the ASMEF facility was initiated in ICAD II on an area of around 280,000 sq. mtrs. with 350 mtrs. waterfront.

ASMEF has incorporated Quality Management System to the requirements of ISO 9001: 2008; API SPEC Q1-9th Edition; Quality Control System for product specification API Monogram for SPEC 2B; ASME A; ASME S; ASME U; ASME PP; ASME U2; NB R; HSE Management System that is certified to the requirements of ISO 14001: 2004; OHSAS 18001: 2007 & OSHAD.

Today, ASMEF continues to grow to fulfill its vision to be a diversified entity in its industry in the UAE.

Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory is located on prime industrial land located within the prestigious ICAD II (Industrial City Abu Dhabi) development. The yard has:

o 350 meter concrete jetty with 40 tons loading out capacity o CNC steel workshops o Controlled storage facility o Mechanical engineering workshop o Electrical engineering workshop o Multi–purpose workshop o Enclosed blasting area o Mobile, crawler, and gantry cranes with various capacities o Fabrication and piping workshops with jibs and overhead cranes o Certified top drive repair facility o Authorized repair workshop

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

Our experience with the local & international markets allow us to promote trade to the complete satisfaction of our clients; offering them time bound, reliable & quality services with the lowest impact to Health, Safety & Environment.

In order to achieve our HSE commitments, ASMEF has developed and implemented a comprehensive HSE Management system that is certified to OHSAS 18001:2007 and OSHAD requirements, and is continuously enhanced by stringent monitoring of our own performance as well as through feedback from customers, trade groups and various agencies, both local and regional.

In order to achieve our HSE goals, ASMEF commits to: o Seek to achieve zero accidents or harm to people and a minimal impact upon the environment through the company’s operations. o Demonstrate leadership, commitment and accountability in HSE through all levels of management, supervision and the workforce. o Commit adequate resources to meet all our HSE commitments. o Set a high standard of environmental health and safety protection through an effective management structure and documented HSE policies and procedures that shall be widely communicated to all interested parties and regularly reviewed and audited for efficacy and to aid continual improvement. o Identify, assess and manage aspects, impacts, hazards and risks from our activities and services.

Engineering

Marine EngineeringASMEF Marine engineering department has invested heavily in its engineering resources and associated software.

For the Marine (shipbuilding) division ASMEF uses the latest version of “AVEVA” software incorporating Tribon and PDMS giving ASMEF the capability of 3D modeling for the hull and using PDMS having the ability to carry out clash resolution for piping systems and machinery installed onboard a new building.

Structural EngineeringASMEF Structural Steel Department comprises of highly qualified personnel and within specific fields of steel design. All personnel are fully experienced with structural steel work design and manufacture and use the latest CAD 3D programs along with steel modeling software for stress analysis and the modeling of steel structures using STAAD. Pro and AVEVA.

The Structural department’s design capabilities covers structural steel such as Pipe Racks, Structural Skid/Module design and Power Supply Skids (E-House). In addition to the design requirement, the structural engineering department offers detailed workshop drawings, bill of quantities for materials and cutting lists for our CNC gas and plasma machines.

Pipe EngineeringASMEF Pipe Engineering department comprises of highly qualified personnel all within the specific field of pipe design including manual isolation valve selection. All personnel are fully experienced with pipe work design and manufacture and use the latest CAD/CAM programs PDMS software and pipe 3D modeling to ensure clash resolutions.The Pipe Engineering department’s design capabilities generically covers the following: o Generation of detailed design shop drawings o Generation of CAD/CAM cutting files for CNC cutting machines o Generation of Material Take Offs (MTOs) o Weld Map drawings o Pipe nesting cutting plans

Engineering

Static EquipmentASMEF Static Equipment Engineering department comprises of highly qualified personnel all within the specific field of Static Equipment Design such as Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger, Indirect Fired Heater, 2 phase/3 phase Test/ Production Separator, Heater Treater, Desalter, Filter Separator, Scrubber, Fuel Gas Heater, Drain Vessel, Pig Launcher & Receiver, Columns, Reactors, API tanks and shop fabricated Storage Tanks. All personnel are fully conversant with design aspect and can provide a full EPC service from mechanical design through to delivery of the equipment. The Static Equipment Engineering department’s design capabilities generically covers the following: o Generation of detailed design shop drawings o Generation of Material Take Offs (MTOs) o Weld Map Drawing o Plate Nesting Plan

The Mechanical design and detailing engineering of Pressure Vessels, Columns, Reactors and Heat Exchangers, etc. as per ASME Section VIII Div.-1 & 2 is being carried out with the help of the latest design software “PV-Elite”, “COMPRESS” and AutoCAD.

ASMEF Static Equipment Engineering comprises of highly qualified personnel all within the specific field of Process Skid Package modules from mechanical design that includes Mechanical design and detailed engineering of Pressure Vessel, Piping as per ASME B31.3, Piping supports and Structures.

ElectricalASMEF Electrical Engineering department comprises of highly qualified personnel all within the specific field of electrical and instrumentation and control systems design. All personnel are fully experienced with electrical design and can provide a full ‘turn-key’ service from design through to commissioning, or upgrade an existing control system using the latest technologies.

Our Services – Oil & Gas

Our Oil & Gas Division specializes in a diverse range of services which covers the Oil & Gas industry operating both Onshore and Offshore.

It maintains a dedicated, fully qualified design team covering both structural steel works, piping work and pressure vessels. As per industry standards and requirements, the Oil & Gas Division carries all relevant international standards such as ASME stamps and API certification.

Facilities:The Oil & Gas Division offers current and future clients modern up to date facilities incorporating the newest machines and technologies within the industry, in five specifically built covered workshops for machining, pressure vessels and pipe work. In addition to the workshops, it has a build area of approximately 40,000 sq. mtrs. which incorporates two 50 ton, 25 meter high gantry cranes for the building of large structures such as Jackets, Platforms, Topsides, Process Skids, Modules, etc.

Dedicated and experienced engineers with strong technical team arethe strength of our repair division. Over the years it had retained an envious reputation of having many long term and repeat contracts with renowned shipping companies.

Facilities:The division has the following facilities to offer:

o 350 mtrs. of concrete jetty space with a load out of 40 tons/sq. mtrs. o Access to a ship repair landing area of approximately 30,000 sq. mtrs. o Floating dock with 6500 ton lifting capacity with 10 ton SWL pedestal jib cranes o Berthing water depth of up to 9 mtrs. o Fully equipped workshop for Mechanical, Piping and Electrical repairs

Our Services – Ship Building and Ship Repair

Ship Building and Conversion:Our Ship New Build Division offers a range of inter- disciplinary services for its new build projects such as Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering and Project Engineering and Management.

Over the years the new build division has carried out numerous design new build and also undertaken major conversions and has shown a high competence in building vessels from barges to sophisticated DP vessels.

Facilities:The ship building area covers approximately 50,000 sq. mtrs. of building space which incorporates steel fabrication workshops, fully equipped modern machine shop and pipe shop, panel lines, heavy plate bending shop, block building and block assembly areas.

Capabilities:

o Full range of vessels from general cargo to Platform Supply Vessels (PSV) and DP vessels o All type of barges covering loading barges, flat top barges, split barges special design barges used for the offshore industry o Full support of machinery installation covering the main and auxiliary machineries and all equipment on board vessels

Facilities:The division has the following facilities to offer, a concrete jetty space with cranes up to 250 ton SWL incorporating a load out requirement of 40 tons/sq. mtrs., a block building and leg erection area of approximately 30,000 sq. mtrs., 40 000 sq. mtrs. of covered fabrication shops and a block assembly rig build area of 30,000 sq. mtrs. and a fully equipped workshop dedicated to jacking system and drilling equipment.

The one stop shop aims to serving all businesses within the ASMEF yard. It offers repairs, refurbishment, installation, commissioning, calibration, NDT and other services needed for our clients, hence reducing cost and duration of projects.

The one stop shop consists of mechanical, machine, electrical and instrumentation workshops in addition to OEM certified workshop.
