2000: Employees attend class at

R-CCC while waiting for plant to

open

2008: Nucor adopted as a partner

of Hertford County EMS

2009: Under new partnership

classes begin @ NUCOR

EMT Basic Course

200 hours

1 day a week/6-7 months to complete

All classes taught by R-CCC at Nucor

Employees request class

96% pass state certification exam on first attempt

Continuing Education credits required

to maintain EMT Certification

96 hours offered annually at NUCOR

36 hours required to maintain EMT

certification

EMT Basic Trained = 50 completed

Some employees have chosen to advance EMT

training and are currently enrolled in a hybrid

course at R-CCC

CPR/AED/First Aid Trained Supervisors = 50

Currently over 45 members on Nucor

R-CCC supports instruction with state dollars and Nucor assists with instructor costs

Class taken on employee’s time

Fee exempt due to partnership with Hertford County EMS
