label houses a large amount of samplebased music, seen as musical resampling and recycling

Music is generally bass heavy, hybridisations of genres of music - e.g. Dub and garage.

experimenting with some custom typefaces:pur type seems to be working more effectivelythan a mix of type and shapes.

BAL/ Orator std slanted.works well but looks generic.

Facet std. This typeface works. Cleancut andchunky. has an urban feel suited to the label

Typeface: Facet std.the typeface is not legible enough in its original format.

Diagonal cut in the counterslook unneccessary.

Further amendments weremade to the form of theletter S and L in regardsto line weight and symettrybut produced no betterresult.

Counter, unneccessary contributesto overall legibilty.

Counter removedLetter form now appears too fat.

Flattened off diagonalcut - less space between lettersand giving a uniformityto the overall form weight.

Typeface: Facet std.the typeface is not legible enough in its original format.

The logo has to work on a range of scales and formats,this logo is legible as the word alius at different scalesbut the spiky nature of the letters detracts from the legibilityof the type, the negative space is also not working. too complicated,needs development.

“U” appears 3 dimensional, “LIU” too spiky.

Too many diagonals, apparent in the counter.

Overall the word is toostraight and there is too much negative spacehere.

No symettry, I feelthere should be.

Logo simplified, pointed edges replaces by simple shapes. Slightly italicized.

This chunky blocky letteringreflects the nature of the labelbetter. Urban, chunky music.Counter removed, “A”

is a definate problemarea of this logo.No counter, appearsto look mismatchedwith the “S”

Counter added, sameshape as the I’s dot.adds a degree ofconsistency. Still not working.

S has a more accentuated slantto keep a visual uniformitythroughout.

Logo is now beginning to work, but the lower case Asticks out like a sore thumb.

Upper case A adapted from the U to keep a consistant uniformity throughout. Bar of the Ataken from the I’s dot. This is now working.

Lower case a adapted tobecome a quote mark,adds weight to thelogo and its meaning.

Bottom diagonal cut reducedto match the top tail, backcut removed for consistancy.

L currently isnt working with the overalllegibiliy. This is easily adapted

Legibility is now working more efficiently.

This logo is one of my favourites that I have done, but It just does not work smaller scalebecause of the negative space, the negative space conflicts with the type, and at a smaller scalemerges together and becomes unreadable.

this outcome appearsto have a good balanceof type/ image and theimage works as astandalone pictogram.

has an edge of simplicitywhich is appealing, use ofa standard typeface addsto the legibility of thelogo.

The pictogram works alone,but the type adds a clarity.this pictogram could be usedalone on, for example, the 12” and 7” record.

A more stripped back, and simplifiedapproach. I am now using a simplified shape for the logo as a standalone, and adding sipplementary type, for when the logo needs to be applied to letterheads, business cards etc.
