Lord Jesus Christ, your passion and death is the sacrifice that unites earth and heaven and reconciles all people to you. May we who have faithfully reflected on these mysteries follow in your steps and so come to share your glory in heaven where you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Give a gift to Frs. Baker, Thomas, Tomy, McGeean, and Nestor for Easter!

Join the parish for a Holy Hour with Benediction

April 9th at 7:30PM in the Main Church to pray for our parish priests.

Our priests need your prayers to gain the necessary graces to take on the enormous task

of renewing the Church. Bring the whole family to pray and sign an Easter card for our priests.

Prayer for Life Advocacy Day

Gracious and merciful God, we ask that you send your Spirit among us to guide us and direct us in order to inspire all our political leaders to advance the culture of life in their duty to uphold the common good for all the people they serve. You sent your Son Jesus to teach us how to pray, how to serve you in obedience and how to be the people you are calling us to be. You inspire us each and every day to appreciate the gifts you bestow upon us and to use them to change the hearts and minds of all people. The most precious gift you have given us is the gift of life and you call us to be good stewards of all your creation. Help us to cultivate a spirit of prayer and of reconcilia-tion for the lack of due diligence in protecting the most vulner-able among us; the children who are forgotten, abandoned and thought of as an inconvenience to the welfare of societies. In-spire all those in public office to protect the dignity of the unborn and those who are living who are deemed unfit to receive our care. Help us to receive your wisdom so that we know how best to serve you and your people. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

To locate your representative, please visit www.elections.il.gov. Go into the desert and clear away

your diversions and the chatter of life. Make room for yourself to talk with Him who loves you. Reflect together so that God’s

voice might be heard.

Third Sunday of Lent It is easy to comprehend that the blind cannot see. But blind or sighted, today’s gospel is more about insight into the invisible. Christ is the Illu-mined One we seek—not only in what we see, but also in what we hear, touch, taste, and feel. Because of Baptism, how will I bear the light

of Christ in life this week? How will I support the elect—those who cele-

brate the Scrutiny today and who seek the Light?

Encounter Kumba We encounter Kumba from Sierra Leone, who, through her education, is providing hope for her family and community. How has education given you opportunities in life? How do you use your education for the common good? Visit crsricebowl.org for more.

Anne Marie Schmidt grew up in a very devout Catholic family in Czechoslovakia. In this presentation, she shares her incredible experiences of Divine Providence during the infamous Nazi persecution at Auschwitz and on the Russian battlefront. Anne Marie explains how her love for Christ grew through her astounding trials, and how she was led to see the hand of God working in them all. Riveting! A story of faith's triumph over the dark forces. The rosary, study of Scripture, compassion...I'll keep those in my spiritual toolbox! Melanie - Allentown, PA An inspiring story of great hope and courage in the face of tremendous evil, reminding us of the power of God's love when we cooperate with His grace. Mark - Pittsburgh, PA Faith Raising! This heartfelt presentation affirms the awe-some and most perfect timing of the Loving Providence of God. Mary - Prairie du Chien, WI

To Hell and Back: Divine Love at the Cross by Anne Marie Schmidt

All are invited to return (anew) to our gracious and merciful LORD during the Season of Lent by encountering Him in the Sunday Gospels using the practice of lectio divina. A way of praying Scripture that dates back to the early Church, lectio divina is an invitation to enter into silence, to pray the Gospel text, to listen to the text, allow images and memories to unfold, to tend to the invitation to sit in stillness and discern God’s call to you and to discover God’s wisdom that may emerge during the stillness. Lectio Divina will take place from 7:00-8:00pm in Room 216 of the Ministry Center on Thursdays during Lent (4/4 and 4/11). Guiding the weekly sessions is Sister Maryann Dosen, ssfcr, one of our Sisters here at Saints Peter and Paul. Sister holds an MA in Theology. All are welcome – no experience necessary.

Even now, says the LORD, return to me with your whole heart, … for the LORD is gracious and merciful. (Joel 2:12, 13)

NEWS FROM THE KNIGHTS

Saint Vincent de Paul

Our minds and hearts are like fortresses. We live within them, but are reluctant to admit

Jesus and his poor into the very center of them. We will allow Jesus in just so far, but we often, by our action or inaction, show him that we don’t wish Him to take us over completely. He is continually asking us to surrender to him. He is asking us continually to let go, and we insist on hold-ing on. Conversion or repentance is about surrender. Through your almsgiving you are performing a good work; far greater than you think. You are allowing Jesus and his poor into the center of your minds and hearts.

Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of Saint

Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who

are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and its patron, Saint

Vincent de Paul. Would you like to learn more or are you in need of assistance? If so, call: 630-718-2127.

Transitional

Housing Ministry

Mentors Needed

The Transitional Housing Ministry is always looking to add new mentors to our program. For anyone who might be interested, a Mentor Training Program will be held on Saturday, April 13th from 8:15am to 2:30pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Glen El-lyn. Mentoring a homeless family over the two-year transitional program will not only help to change the lives of each member of that family, but yours as well.

Please contact Tom Dorn at 630-270-7303 or [email protected] if you are interested. Tom will explain the program in greater detail

and address any questions you might have.

A family friendly (and pet friendly!) 5k Run/Fitness Walk suppor ng Catholic Chari es, Diocese of Joliet and other DuPage County chari es. This event is FREE for children under 13. Make plans to join us for a great cause.

PRAYING FOR THE SICK AND DECEASED

If you wish to have the name of a family member or friend included in the Petition for the Sick, which is read at weekend Masses, you must call the Parish Office by 9:00a.m. on the Friday before. Your loved one’s name will automatically be added onto the sick list in the bulletin the following weekend. If you add a loved one’s name to the petition when you come to Mass, please follow up with a phone call to the Parish Of-fice on the following Monday, so the name may be included with the sick list in the bulletin. Call the Parish Office at 630-355-1081 to add, remove or keep a name on the sick list. Any names received after 9:00a.m. on the Friday will be included in the following weekend’s prayers. Names will be kept on for three months unless otherwise noted. Deceased loved ones who are buried by Saints Peter and Paul Parish are automatically named in the bulletin and in the petition read at weekend Masses. Other recently deceased loved ones may be added to the petitions by calling the Parish Office by 9:00a.m. on Friday.

If you would like to have a serviceman or woman included in the military remembrance list in the bulletin, please call the Parish Office at 630-355-1081. To arrange a welcome home for your soldier or marine, contact Donna Morsovillo of

*Names that are bolded are newly added this week*

We wish to offer our sympathy and a promise of our prayers to family and friends on the deaths of:

Jerry Disalvo, Mike and Lois Ladd

In your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life you embraced them with your tender love; deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest. The old order has passed away: welcome them into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain, but fullness of peace and joy with your Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen

Pray With Us

St. Francis Chapel of Eucharistic Adoration Flame of Faith Candles

Six candles burn perpetually around the Blessed Sacrament in our St. Francis Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. The burning candles serve as a constant prayer before the Lord, present in the Blessed Sacrament. Envelopes for you to have your intention remembered with one of these candles and prayed for ONE WEEK (Sunday to Sunday) are available in the Adoration Chapel. The intentions will be published in the bulletin.

Flame of Faith Intentions for This Week The seven-day Devotional Candles at the altar of our Lord in the Saint Francis Adoration Chapel are being offered for: 1. For the healing of Kim who can barely walk. 2. Blessing to Oscar de la Galzaka on his 70th birthday and for his family and relatives. 3. For Dr. Chuck Musfeldt. 4. For the safety and well being of Fr. Gregory Schafer and all the people of Venezuela. 5. For an increase of holiness and piety of SSPP laity. 6. For the protection of the unborn and prolife laws.

Sunday 9am Thursday 2am Sunday 10am Thursday 4am Monday 1am Friday 6pm

COME AND ADORE HIM IN THE MOST HOLY SACRAMENT...

Visit our Saint Francis Adoration Chapel - Open 24/7

Sit quietly and just “be” in the presence of God. Think of a visit to the Blessed Sacrament as coming to see your best friend. Instead of talking to the Lord, try listening to what He wants to tell you.

EVENING PRAYER AND BENEDICTION

Please join us for Evening Prayer (Vespers) and Benediction, held every Thursday at 6:00pm in the St. Francis Adoration Chapel.

Rosary

Come pray with us on Tuesday evenings

in the Church beginning at 7:30pm.

With our Rosaries, we will ask Our Lady to intercede for our Holy Father’s special intention of the month, as well as for our own intentions, and for world peace without the threat of terrorism. If there is a special intention that you would like to have remembered during the weekly Rosary, please email [email protected] or come to the Tuesday Rosary to add your intention.

Legion of Mary

Become acquainted with the Legion of Mary by joining us on Tuesday eve-nings at 6:00pm in Room 227 in the Ministry Center in the spirit of faith

and in union with our Blessed Virgin Mary. The Legion of Mary is the largest lay apostolic associa-tion of Catholics worldwide who serve the Church by visiting the sick and homebound and by performing many works of promoting our Catholic faith. We pray to Jesus through Mary. Contact Judy Vissepo at 630-245-3171 or Paulette Shea at 630-718-2127 with any questions.
