The 7272cabinet includesovalgloveholestoextendtheoperator’srangeofmotionand,thankstoadual-conebottom,alowfloorheight,enablingtheoperatortoreachworksurfaceswithouthavingtocontinuallyrepositionparts intheblastenclosure. Manufactured from 11 gauge plate steel withcontinuously welded seams, this rugged cabinet has afloorcapacityof1500pounds.Theblasthoseentersfromthetoptorelieveoperatorstrain,andaserpentinemedia-returnhoseeliminatesproblemsassociatedwiththeuseof“Y”branches.

Ifyouarereplacingexistingequipmentoraddingblastcabinetstomeetgrowingneeds,youareprobablyfamiliarwiththebenefitsofair-blasting,thebestmediatouse,andthetypeofsystemyouwant.However,ifyouhaveanewblastingapplication,youandyourEmpiredistributorshouldreviewthefollowingoutlinebeforemakingafinalselection.

Cabinet SizingPriortoselectingacabinet,determinethecriticalcharacteristicsofyourworkpiece.Thesefactorsshouldinclude:partsize(willtheworkpiecefitintothecabinet?),accessibilityofsurfacestobeblasted,orientationrequirements,desiredoperatingprocedures(manualorautomatic),andmaskingconsiderations.Normally,asketchofthepartwithinthecabinetishelpfulindeterminingthemostfunctionalcabinetsize.

AutomationYoucancustomizeaPro-Finishcabinettorunwithoutanoperatorbyincorporatingapoweredturntableandgunholder.Moresophisticatedapproachesincludemultipleblastguns,oscillatorsandatimerpackage. AlmosteveryautomatedPro-Finishapplicationisdifferentsocareshouldgointovisualizinghowthepartwillbeprocessed.Ifanout-of-roundworkpieceisrotatedonaturntable,areasthatcomeclosertoastationaryblastsourcewillexperiencegreaterintensity.Inaddition,recessedregionsmaybemissedandinteriorsurfacesmaybehardtoreachwithstandardequipment. Multipleguns/nozzlesnotonlyprovidefastercyclesthroughincreasedcoverage,butalso“see”morefacetsonmulti-sidedparts.Consequently,mostautomatedsystemsemploymultiplegunsornozzles. Manualtouch-upisofferedwithPro-Finishsystemsinvolvingautomationbecause,unlikethehumaneye,mechanicaldevicescannotsensewhereextrablastingmightberequired.Touch-upcanalsoeliminatetheeffectof“barberpoling,”whichoccurswhenblastoscillationisslightlyfasterthanpartrotation.
