Extra curriculars, extra help, counseling, etc

● Most of these will occur from 1:15 - 3:00 via Google Meets● Faculty will set up “office hours” to assist students in need of

extra help● Clubs will be reinvented to work via Google Meets in the

afternoons● Counselors are always available but will try to make

appointments for the afternoon to not interfere with classes

Sports and Physical Education

● We will follow CHSAA ruling on Fall and Winter sports○ The New York State CHSAA (NYSCHSAA) met on July 20, 2020 and decided to postpone the

start of Fall Sports to at least September 21, 2020 due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and our concerns for the safety of Catholic High School student athletes. Should conditions cause the Fall season to be further postponed or canceled, the NYSCHSAA is prepared to hold three condensed athletic seasons for the 2020-2021 school year when conditions permit.

● Physical Education classes will be modified for independent study at home in order to comply with CDC guidelines and New York State Mandates

Entry to school in the morning

● There will be 1 main entrance (Walton Ave - directly into the Gym) in the morning - if needed a second entrance will be identified (main)

● Everyone (students, staff, faculty, visitors, etc) that enters the building must fill out a survey each day and have their temperature checked upon entry

● If anyone has an elevated temperature they will be move to an isolated area and then protocol according to Department of Health will be followed

Students in school

● Students will remain in the same classroom all day● Teachers will change class - NOT STUDENTS - to limit the movement in

the building● Students will be dismissed in intervals starting at 12:15 to avoid any

backup in the hallways● Students may bring a snack or drink with them● Lunch will not be served at school at this time

Facility Requirements and GuidelinesBuilding and Classroom:● There will be signage indicating direction in which to travel in hallways and

stairways for consistent flow, social distancing, and proper distancing for line-up and movement of students and/or classes.

● One main entrance into the building, and exits will be designated. If needed we will have an additional entrance.

● Classrooms may only accommodate space for a limited number of students to allow for distances of six feet.

● All students are to be facing one direction and are not to be grouped in configurations that would require facing one another.

● Teachers’ desks should be in the front of the classroom facing the students.

Building and Classroom - cont.● Shared spaces are to be eliminated (cafeteria, gym, science lab,

auditorium). Spaces may be appropriated for other classes as per social distancing norms and expectations as long as teacher/ student ratios are in place for teaching purposes.

● No use of student lockers. ● Reusable water bottles must be labeled with the student’s name. ● We have designated “Guardian Angel” rooms (isolation rooms) for when a child

is ill or showing symptoms of illness. ● Hand sanitizer stations are located at the entrance of the building as well as in

each classroom and throughout the building as appropriate. ● Clear barriers subject to fire and building code requirements will be installed

where needed ex: reception areas and secretarial areas of main offices.

Building and Classroom - cont.● Proper ventilation has been ensured with air flow from outdoor air,

this includes having windows and doors open at the same time across all rooms to maximize cross ventilation.

● Deliveries will be placed in a separate designated area. ● We have suspended special events involving outside groups to maximize

security and sanitization. ● All trips, public events, and onsite activities are suspended until further

notice.

We have some new rules:

● PLEASE WASH OR SANITIZE YOUR HANDS. ● KEEP AT LEAST 6FT BETWEEN YOURSELF AND OTHERS. ● DON’T SHAKE HANDS. PLEASE WAVE INSTEAD.

Personal Protective Equipment - PPE

● Faculty and Staff will be wearing a mask at all times in accordance with CDC guidelines

● Students will need to also wear their mask at all times ● Hand Sanitizer has been mounted throughout the

building● Faculty, Staff and students will adhere to 6 feet social

distancing in the building

Daily Protocol and ProceduresGENERAL ADVISEMENT ● Staff and students should stay home if they do not feel well. ● Staff and students should stay home if they were within six feet of a person with

COVID-19 for a prolonged period of time. ● We strongly recommend parents take their child’s temperature every day before

school. Child should stay home if temperature is 100.0 degrees or greater. ● Markers outside the building will be set up along the sidewalk adjacent to the

doors. Students will come in the doors on Walton Avenue and go directly into the gym. They will be screened upon arrival. If you are dropping off your son please do so by that entrance.

● Signs will indicate six-foot distances and should have directional arrows pointing toward the screening area.

Daily Protocol and Procedures - contTemperature Screening ● Temperature screening and screening questions as outlined in the NYS Guidance

for In-Person Instruction at Pre-K–Grade 12 Schools during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency are to be taken as each staff member and student enters the building.

● Persons who have fevers of 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit or above or who are exhibiting other signs of illness shall not be admitted to the school. The nurse will conduct the screening.

● Children should go straight to their assigned rooms after clearing the temperature check screening. If they do arrive early we will place them in the commons at six feet social distance until they are moved up to their assigned classroom.

● Students will fill out a survey on their phone, scan QR code and get temperature checked

Face Masks● Students must wear face masks when in the school building, and they must

keep appropriate social/physical distancing. The school will have masks available for students as needed.

● Staff will be required to wear masks. Masks will be provided to all staff members. Choosing to wear a mask of their own is equally acceptable.

● All masks for faculty, staff, and students are subject to approval by the principal. Masks should be plain and free of any objectionable statements or support for any group, product, political view, and so on, other than the name of the school or the Catholic Schools of the Archdiocese of New York.

● Non-disposable mask should be washed daily.

● Sanitation of classrooms○ Since students will not be changing classes sanitation between classes is not needed.○ The entire school will be fully sanitized daily

● Transportation to school○ We understand parents are concerned about public transportation and that is why we are

offering distance learning as an option

● Tuition○ This will remain the same. 90% of the budget is salaries. ○ Costs to sanitize and make sure everyone is safe has increased

● Overall Academics○ Students will continue to follow the curriculum set forth by New York State○ We did a great job and will continue to improve○ Distance learning has opened many opportunities - often if a student was absent they would

miss instruction - now they can always get instruction in school or from home.

● Ventilation○ All areas of the school will be tested and inspected to make sure we are in full compliance

● Reporting of COVID in families○ We will keep families informed as we are informed

● Uniforms at home - distance learning○ Yes - students are to be in dress code at home or in school

● Metro cards○ We believe so but not sure if they will be physical card

● Camera on next year○ Yes - we are looking at backgrounds to approve students to use

● SAT○ We are considering the October 14th in school test option

Next Steps

● Form for schooling preference (in-person, hybrid, online) will be emailed by August 10, 2020 and due back by August 15, 2020

● Families will be notified August 31, 2020 on placement● Governor Cuomo - speak on schools reopening on August 7, 2020● Chromebook distribution will be done the Week of August 31st.● School Calendar will be available on the website by the week of August 10th.
