music from Waimanalo Sunset lifted the spirits of both walkers and volunteers. Refreshments at the checkpoint included our ever-popular mochi crunch, and again, McDonald’s Hawaii joined us with volunteers and their refreshing Apple Dippers. Mahalo to our set-up and breakdown crew: Tante Pascual, Gilbert Cui, Kok Leung Shiu, Hui Lun Weng, Salvador Antonio, and Elvis Bannister; to our photographer, Marie Casciato; to Maryknoll High School Anime Club who volunteered to collect all the trash between our checkpoint station and the next; to our traffic control: Alan Naito, David Reed, Jocelyn Valenzuela, and Joel Ono; to our volunteers: Audrey Lee, Bob Yeoman, Dan Daniels, Dean Nakasone, Debbie Hendrawidjaja, Elvie Amor, Eric Ramos, Edlynne Makue, Jane Inouye, Kelvin Sato, Leda and Chase Tupinio, Kilakila Kalai, Leonarda Dait, Loretta Mundoza, Mary Ann Andrade, Myra Kuboyama, Nancy Souza, Nolan Crabbe, Ofelia Valdez, Pat Moore, PK Kaahanui, Sandra and Brandon Sakka, Sharon Okuda, Valerie Tanaka, Virgina Asakawa, and Waipa Parker (1st Aid); to Barry and Nancy Wallace and Kelley Family `ohana: Nani Naish and Dr. Chuck, Robbie, and Jane Kelley; and of course, our Charity Walk Checkpoint Committee: Carol Kahili, Eddie Vierra, Jo-Ann Yonamine, Kathy Hansberry, Marie Miyahira, Nancy

Daniels, Nora Weatherwax, Nurhan Enustun, Peggy Chasteen, and Ray Kanemori, who made this all happen! The Big Island’s walk took a different route after 27 years on the sunny and busy sidewalks of downtown Kailua-Kona. The 5K run/walk meandered through open pasturelands on Parker Ranch in upcountry Waimea. Outrigger Keauhou Beach’s (KBR) emcee E A`ana, arrived on horseback singing Boot Scootin’ Boogie, while 1,200 walkers braved the chill of the early morning air to walk where cow, horse, and wagon trails still exist. The Orchid Isle raised $205,000 for Hawaii’s charities. Following the walk, the 2nd Annual “Big Island Idol” competition took place, featuring 11 finalists representing their hotel/resort. The aspiring Idols took to a beautiful and authentic paniolo stage to sing a country western song. KBR was well represented as Guy Noa, Assistant Housekeeper, sang I’ll Be, while his cheering section waved signs and banners in support. KBR chaired the entertainment for the second year, garnering tremendous recognition by participants and the media for hosting such an enjoyable event for the community. For the first time, our Kauai & Maui Condo/Timeshare Division joined in on the fun and the Garden and Valley Isles together contributed a healthy $519,000 to help Hawaii’s charities! Outrigger and OHANA employees care about the communities in which we do business, and our large contingent of walkers and volunteers is a true testament to how caring, generous, and involved our employees are. Mahalo everyone, and make sure you mark your calendar for next year’s Charity Walk on Saturday, May 19, 2007, because our own Barry Wallace will be Chair for 2007! Plans are already in the making, and we’ll be counting on our `ohana to support Barry, as we make next year’s Charity Walk even bigger and better! Let’s show`em the Outrigger & OHANA way!
