The “All Pilot Letters” (APLs) communicate answers to common
customer questions and share lessons learned from
the fleet.The FCOM provides OEM
approved operating procedures provided in an
EFB. Provides OEM recommended Best
Operating Practices based on design intent.
RFM content stays fresh; content is clarified and/or,
updated as required.
Operational Effectiveness - HTAWS
• Simulator trials completed in Aberdeen using a modified Honeywell EGPWS MKXXII unit.
• At the HeliOffshore Conference, operators agreed to update the EGPWS thresholds by December 2017.
• AW and Rockwell-Collins to meet the CAA to discuss updating the embedded HTAWS software on the AW169 & 189. Awaiting update from Thales on HTAWS installed on the S76D.
• UK CAA to draft HTAWS specification to circulate for comment
• HeliOffshore met with EASA to discuss progressing HTAWS. HTAWS Research Team has also engaged with EASA and the FAA.
• PHASE 2: Suitable warning tones/chords have been identified and trials on the warning effectiveness usinga NASA software tool will start soon.
