Auburn Art Celebrates New Oaks with Limited-Edition Letterpress Poster
Auburn, Ala. (Jan. 16) – Auburn Art, a specialty gift shop located in downtown Auburn, is honoring the
historic Toomer’s Oaks by celebrating the arrival of the newly planted trees through a limited-edition
letterpress poster.
The limited-edition letterpress posters are handcrafted by a local Auburn artist and will only be available
for purchase in store the Valentine’s Day weekend, Feb. 14 and Feb. 15.
The owner of Auburn Art, Cliff Hare, has always had roots that run deep within the Auburn community.
Hare is the great-grandson of Clifford Leroy Hare, a member Auburn’s first football team in 1892 and the
former chair of the Auburn Faculty Athletic Committee.
Further, in 2012, Hare had an in-store Toomer’s Oak Sculpture made in replication of the historic oak
trees.
“I wanted a piece of art that represented the love of the Auburn tradition of rolling the oak trees to
future generations by creating the sculpture. Now, I’m excited to celebrate with the Auburn community
the arrival of the new trees through our letterpress poster,” Hare said.
Hare looks forward to cherishing old traditions and fresh beginnings with the Auburn community with
the new oak trees.
Auburn Art will be open Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 15, from 1 p.m. to 5
p.m.
Auburn Art was founded in 2001 as an online company, later establishing a retail location in 2007.
Auburn Art offers the highest quality, uniquely Auburn and southern photographs, prints, paintings,
blown glass, jewelry and pottery. Purchases can be made in the store by visiting the downtown location

U.S. HUNGER ALL IN TO HELP FAMILIES OF OKLAHOMA
Feeding Children Everywhere will Send Healthy Meals Right Here in U.S.
Feeding Children Everywhere has recently launched its newest initiative, U.S. Hunger; a social
charity that specializes in the empowerment and mobilization of people to provide a healthy solution to
the hunger problem in the United States.
U.S. Hunger is partnering with the Riverside, Calif., community to help package healthy meals
for hungry people in Oklahoma, as part of its Hope for Oklahoma Relief Fund. At this event, volunteers
will make a tangible difference by hand-packaging 100,000 healthy meals that will be distributed to the
Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City Public Schools.
“We feel we have a responsibility to our nation to respond and help, that’s what America does.
Most of California can’t go to Oklahoma City, but can donate and help,” said Feeding Children
Everywhere CEO, Don Campbell.
The event will take place Saturday, June 1, 2013 at The Grove Community Church from 9 a.m. to
2 p.m. and will be accompanied with great music and good fun. U.S. Hunger also encourages people to
bring any non-perishable items to the event.

AUBURN ALL IN FOR BODDA GETTA BASH
SGA and UPC Merge Concert and Pep Rally for Auburn Community and Students
Auburn University’s Student Government Association and University Programs Council
have joined forces to create a brand new fall event: the Bodda Getta Bash.
Uniting SGA’s traditional pep rally and UPC’s annual fall concert, the Bodda Getta Bash
will be a spectacular event beyond what Auburn students and community have experienced
before. Both programs hope that the Bodda Getta Bash will become a tradition as revered as Hey
Day and the Homecoming Parade.
The event will feature Aubie, Tiger Paws, AU Rhythm, cheerleaders and Trot Line
and a surprise guest speaker.
The event will also feature a Text-To-Win contest with a phone give away, courtesy of
Verizon Wireless.
The Bodda Getta Bash will take place on Oct. 5, 2012, at Grave’s Amphitheatre. The pep
rally begins at 6 p.m. with music starting at 5:30 p.m.
“We are so excited to be a part of this event,” says Marissa Bean, assistant director of
traditions. “It’s the first year [Bodda Getta Bash] has ever been done, […] It’s amazing what you
can accomplish when you join forces with another organization and create something that will
hopefully become bigger than all of us.”

Alabama Legislators to Visit Auburn for Legislative Panel
When caught up in the daily schedule of life, classes and work, it is hard to stay updated
with politics, much less wade through the bureaucratic intricacies of state government.
However, Auburn students, faculty and staff will have a unique opportunity to learn
about Alabama politics in October.
Five Alabama state legislators, Republican and Democrat, will visit Auburn to speak
about their advocacy for higher education as well as Auburn’s impact on legislation, the
economy and even the presidential election during Auburn SGA’s “Capitol on the Plains: A
Legislative Panel.”
The event, scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the Student Center Ballroom, will
give attendees a coveted glimpse into state government.
The speakers invited include Speaker of the House, Representative Mike Hubbard;
Representative Mary Sue McClurken; Representative Warren Pebblin; Senator Tom Whatley;
and Senator Phil Williams.
Attendees will not only get to hear from these key voices in Alabama politics, but have
the opportunity to ask questions and meet the politicians.
Any student, faculty member or staff member who is interested in state government,
wants to know more about Auburn’s political impact or even wants to meet his or her political
representative should attend. The event is free to all Auburn students, faculty and staff.
