hile the Campers picked up a total of 12.
Fort Hill 50, Allegany 7CUMBERLAND The Clay brothers
an wild, the defense came up big and theort Hill Sentinels, a bit nervous in thearly going, beat Allegany in a Homecom-
ng landslide on a sunny Saturday after-noon at Greenway Avenue Stadium.
Garrett Clay and Dylan Clay combinedor five touchdowns and more than 300ards rushing as the Sentinels posted aaryland public school record 14th 10-0
egular season. Fort Hill, which has won
five of the last six meetings, leads the all-time series 49-32-4.
Garrett Clay ran nine times for 155 yardsand three touchdowns, while Dylan Clay ran
seven times for 153 yards and two scores.Ryan Briner and Lance Fullwood had shorttouchdown runs, with Briners coming onthe second play of the game.
Garrett Clays 86-yard touchdown run inthe third quarter set a record for the longestrun in Homecoming game history, breakingthe previous record of 75 set by AlleganysEric Taylor in 1979, and Allegany widereceiver Calmon McKenzie tied a Home-
coming record with five receptions.Allegany (3-7) fumbled the opening kick-
off, which was recovered by Fort Hills Mar-cus Lee at the 15, and Briner covered thedistance in two plays, scoring just 30 sec-onds into the game.
The poor start didnt faze the Campers, however, who put together a terrific 14-play,63-yard drive, converting a pair of fourth-down plays, with Christian Thomas scoringon a fourth-and-one.
The drive ate up 6:52 of the clock and tiedthe game 7-7 with 4:38 left in the quarter.

CUMBERLAND Dont take the trou-
le to tell the Allegany Campers the pastwo football seasons arent exactly what theoctor orders at Campobello. In fact, dontake the trouble to say, frankly, that 12 loss-s in the past 20 games just will not do.hile youre at it, dont even bother telling
hem anything about the wretched 2010nd 2011 seasons that concluded withecords of 5-5 and 3-7, respectively; they
re keenly aware of the significance of it all.Our slogan this year is Make It Person-l, said Allegany head coach Tom Preasko-n, because the last two years werent theest seasons at Allegany. The kids need toake that on their shoulder and take it per-
sonal, and take it to every down and every

game and compete and finish. They haveto know they wont be handed anything.
Despite not having a returning first-team Times-News All-Area player for the
first time since the all-star team was estab-lished in 1976 (Ryan Morgan was second-team linebacker and honorable mentionrunning back last season), the Campers doreturn an experienced nucleus an expe-rienced nucleus with talent and a juniorclass that has experienced success at thefreshman and junior varsity levels.
I think we have all the pieces of the puz-
zle, Preaskorn said. We just have to putthat puzzle together, and we slowly are put-ting it together.
Slowly, in part, because of the loss inpractice time due to the state of Mary-lands first-year preseason-practice heatacclimatization policies.
With the limited practice time wevehad because of the heat restrictions, were
a little behind, Preaskorn said, but werefortunate to have experienced players toork with.Experienced players whom Preaskorn
says, have worked really hard in theeight room during the offseason. They
come out motivated ready to listen and
learn.Which is a good thing in the veteran
head coachs eyes since the Allegany play-ers have taken the vow and chugged the
kool-aid to make it personal this season. What I like is the competition on the
practice field, Preaskorn said. We havesome players who have been two-yearstarters, but theyre being pushed by the
junior class. There are a lot of skill kids andgood athletes, but were not handing any-thing out. Theyre going to have to earn it.Theyre going to have to compete, and theyare.
Returning at quarter-back is Carter Imes (6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Sr.),
who last year completed45 of 110 passes for 735
yards, eight touchdownsand eight interceptions. He also rushed for 190
yards on 69 carries, scor-
ing a pair of touchdowns.Carter is a fantastickid to coach, said
Preaskorn. Hes everything coaches lookfor. Hes dedicated himself to the weightroom, and he does the little extras to makehimself better. You could have seen him

Hes a super kid, hes very coachablend we expect big things from him. Hes a
hree-year starter, but hes being pushedy Trenton Eirich. Trenton is doing a fineob for us at quarterback.
Eirich (5-11, 157, Jr.)was the starting quarter-back on Alleganys junior
varsity team last season. At halfback for the
Campers will be Chris-
tian Thomas (6-0, 170, Sr.)and Madison Wolford (5-10, 184, Sr.), both of whomstarted last year, along
with Dalton Golliday (5-9.,165, Jr.) and Brady Hille-
as (5-9, 145, Jr.).Theres a lot of com-
etition there, Preasko-n said of his halfbacks,
and I think competitioncreates better players.
ny four of them couldstart for us at halfback.
Thomas rushed for 412ards on 63 carries as aunior, scoring seven
touchdowns. He also caught five passes for72 yards.
You can say the same thing about Chris-

on two carries in fivegames.
At tight end is ChrisFram (5-10, 188, Sr.), whoPreaskorn says is beingpushed by Colton Sivic (6-1, 180, Jr.). Fram caughteight passes last year for175 yards and four touch-downs.
The Campers are bigup front, beginning with
starting tackles Antonio
Destefano (6-1, 273, Sr.)and William Tevis (6-0,323, Sr.), who gave FortHill fits in the first half ofthe Homecoming Gamelast year, lining up in thebackfield as an enormousblocking back in anattempt to negate theSentinels speed advan-
tage by running directlyat it.Cameron Shaffer (5-11,
221, Jr.) is also working attackle, as is GarrettMaiers (6-1, 294, Sr.).
Unfortunately, saidPreaskorn, Garretttwisted his ankle, but
when he comes back hewill fight for the tackleposition and maybe moveone of the other (tackles)down at guard.
The starting guards are Garrett Bit-tinger (5-9, 173, Sr.) and Aniellio Destefano(6-0, 178, Sr.).
At split end are Hayden Bosley (5-11, 155,Sr.) and Ryan Murphy (5-11, 150, Sr.). Out of
the backfield last year, Bosley rushed for 45ards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. We have a lot of speed on this team,
said Preaskorn, more speed than in thepast. Our offensive line is big up front and
well rely on Cartersexperience to mix the ballup with the pass.
If anything, Id saywhat sticks out about usoffensively would be bal-ance. We have good quali-ty running backs andgood balance to takeaway a lot of keys.
Defensively, Preaskornsays, I like the waytheyre moving to thefootball. Theyre hustling. They bring good quick-
ness in the secondary andat linebacker. Weve got anice mixture of size andquickness up front as
well.At inside linebacker are
Kirk Robinette (6-1, 164,So.), Shockey and Casey McCagh (5-11,190, Sr.). The outside linebackers are
Thomas and Sivic, who are also being chal-lenged by Wolford and Hillegas. At one defensive end is Aniellio Deste-
fano, the leading tackler on the team lastseason, who also had five sacks and three

During this offseason, despite the cut-back in practice time, Preaskorn has seenenough of what his Campers can do toknow he likes what he sees.
This is probably the most balanced
teamweve had, he said, and thats what I likeabout it. I like our speed and versatility. Were balanced. Weve got talent here; wehave to learn to play as a team.

Which, given the way the previous two seasons haveone at Allegany, is one way to keep the point alive to
his players that even if they thinkthey were born on third base, it
would be incorrect for them tobelieve they hit a triple.
Winning is contagious and so islosing, said Preaskorn. We have toget the attitude straightened out. We
have to get senior leadership, wehave to get the proper mindset. Andif the senior leadership comesthrough, we can have a great sea-son.
