Future Meetings September -- 25th 2019 @ North Broward Lodge No. 404 October -- 30th 2019 @ North Star Lodge No. 405
Greetings Brethren,
I hope this bulletin finds everyone well and enjoying their summer. Our District keeps rolling along with the lodges in District 26 continuing to raise Masons! As our Grand Masters motto for this year says, “Each one, reach one”. If we all followed that edict, Masonry would double instantly in size. As long as we are being on the lookout for good honorable men, that’s the key.
This month’s Masters and Wardens meeting is at Doric lodge-I would like to welcome you all to my home lodge. I expect my JW to put out a very good meal for all to enjoy.
District 26 is proud to be presenting 4 certificates of appreciation to the ladies who worked so hard at putting together our hospitality suite at Grand Lodge. The recipients are, Dawn Vitoulis, Judy Pappas, Barbara Fellner and Diane Paxinos. I know everyone would like to extend a great big thank you to these wonderful ladies who helped so much.
As we near the end of July and roll into August, we have some very important dates to remember. The Grand Masters official visit to District 26 (Broward County) is on Friday August 9th at the Broward Shrine Club, 2900 Taylor Street, Hollywood. Registration begins at 5:00 with the dinner at 6:30. Following the dinner, there will be a tyled meeting Eureka Lodge in Dania at 7:30. Let’s do our RW DDGM proud and show up in large numbers. The Grand Master does count those brothers in attendance from each lodge-so let’s represent!
Also, please remember, open book and school of instruction is held the first Wednesday and third Monday of each month at Doric Lodge. The books are available for viewing at 5:00 and school of instruction goes from 7:00 to 8:00. Current dues cards are required to participate in open books. School of instruction continues to be educational and informative-I encourage as many as possible to come out and learn the proper written word and floor work. Thank you my brothers,
Leaving you with much fraternal love and affection,
Steve Rushefsky, PM President Masters and Wardens District 26

Brethren,
With just a little over a week to go until the Grand Master’s Official Visit to our 26th Masonic District, I wanted to remind all the officers who will sitting chairs for the Tyled meeting to please be in Tuxes and please make sure everyone practices your parts. I ask this kind reminder because the chairs will be filled by the WMs from all 8 lodges and it may have been some time since you last sat as a warden or deacon and a quick refresh maybe helpful Next a few thank you’s are in order. First, a HUGE thank you in advanced to RW Phil Slack and to all the brothers of West Broward Lodge who will managing the GMOV dinner logistics, and to the brothers of Coral Springs Lodge who have offered to help with clean up afterwards. As well thank you to Br. Jim Pappas (and Judy) and everyone who came out to the Broward Shrine Club (BSC) to help with the venue preparations. We have a gem in the district with the BSC and I think all Lodges should consider its use for more of your future social gatherings or charity fund raisers. Regarding my DDGMOVs we had a great start with Doric Lodge. The meal was superb and the night went smooth. Thanks to all my committeemen who were able to make it out and thank you RW Paul Maturse for being well-prepared in advanced of our arrival. I’m asking all Lodge secretaries to please do the same and have all paperwork completed prior to our arrival to make your visits go smooth as well. Our next DDGMOV will be Thursday August 1st at Eureka North Shore Lodge. Lastly, I’ve sent out requests to all the lodges to send me questions you may have that you’d like answered at the GMOV and I need to get them all in to the GM as soon as possible. So please reach out to me via phone, text or email. Thank you.

Open Books (5:00 PM-8:00 PM) August 7th & 19th 2019 at Doric Lodge No. 140 School of instruction (7:00PM-8:00PM) August 7 & 19th 2019 at Doric Lodge No. 140
Dear Brothers, I believe we all know that Freemasonry is, “a system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols” (Mentor’s Manual, pg. 3, 2008). All Master Masons have gone through the three symbolic degrees and through great studies understood some of the meanings within each of the degrees. Since Freemasonry is a life-long journey in the development of our morality through methodical research, experiential and introspective work, by adhering to the tenets of our order; I thought it interesting to convey to you, thoughts on certain aspects of our degrees to stimulate further interest in our esoteric learning. The first or Entered Apprentice Degree in Freemasonry includes the pre-assessment of a candidate to prepare him for the receipt of the degree. The Brothers bringing the candidate into their Lodge should have impressed upon his mind the three qualities, which an Entered Apprentice must possess if he is to attain full benefit and enjoyment of our Fraternity. These are Obedience, Humility, and Industriousness. Let us reflect upon this further and ensure that we are properly preparing our candidates to properly receive the ritual. As the candidate is conducted through the singular perambulation, we as the observers see his progression around the Lodge in a clockwise manner, which is patterned after the movement of the sun as is seen from our planet moving from East to West by way of the South (Mentor’s Manual, pg. 9, 2008). This perambulation teaches the apprentice and us all that Freemasonry is a progressive science and by means of it, man may gather truth as he progresses. It is during the Entered Apprentice Degree that we use those working tools of an Entered Apprentice in wise time management and changing ourselves from the rough Ashlar to the perfect Ashlar. All this happens at the ground floor of King Solomon’s Temple. At that point we are ready to become Fellows of the Craft. The Degree of Fellow Craft emphasizes the dignity and worth of the individual and represents man as an instrument of the Supreme Architect of the Universe. Fellowcrafts have the duty to invent, create and achieve, and express his own generous and individuality. Fellowcrafts symbolize the man in the prime years of his life, accepting responsibility of being a man, a family member, and a Freemason. This degree teaches us the importance of knowledge and a proper well-rounded education. The Fellowcraft performs two perambulations around the Lodge and a symbol of his continued journey for light crossing through two beautiful brazen pillars, which are a symbol of strength and establishment and imply power and control over the self. By passing through both the Fellowcraft understands that power and control are place before him that he may realize power without control is anarchy or that control without power is futility (Mentor’s Manual, pg. 17, 2008).

Open Books (5:00 PM-8:00 PM) August 7th & 19th 2019 at Doric Lodge No. 140 School of instruction (7:00PM-8:00PM) August 7 & 19th 2019 at Doric Lodge No. 140
The Fellowcraft proceeds up a flight of winding steps representing the progress of an inquiring mind with the toils and labors of intellectual cultivation and study. His journey up the stairs take him to the Middle Chamber where he receives his wages, which are truth or that approximation that is most appropriate to him. His journey up the winding stairs is one of continuous search of truth and we never really may never find it but those who are wise may realize that the knowledge of the nature of God to man is a Divine Truth that can never be fully acquired in this life. It is the progression of the Fellowcraft through the outer porch, which symbolically represents his journey from ignorance to enlightenment. The Fellowcraft Craft is reminded that he is committed to the acquisition of knowledge and application of same.
The third or sublime degree of Master Mason is a solemn series of ceremonies that impart a profound lesson of wisdom. The key design of the Degree is to symbolize the great doctrines of the resurrection of the body and the immortality of the soul. The Lodge becomes a representation of the Sanctum Sanctorum of Holy of Holies of Solomon’s Temple at Jerusalem and a symbol of Heaven for the Hebrew people, for Solomon built it as the dwelling place of Jehovah (Mentor’s Manual, pg. 19, 2008). In this degree we are symbolically brought into the presence of God to learn the lessons which it is intended to teach. The degree provides the most magnificent lesson and greatest truth. That having been faithful to his trust, he must at last die in order to attain the ultimate rewards of his fidelity. The great design is the teaching that the soul is immortal. The ceremonies of this Degree lead to the inevitable conclusion that youth, properly directed, leads to an honorable and virtuous maturity and that, regulated by morality, faith and justice, life will be rewarded in its closing hours by the prospect of eternal bliss and immortality. In this Degree is where we realize that the Solomon’s Temple is a symbol of the conception of man as a living Temple for the enthronement of God within each of us. Thus, Freemasonry helps each of its members to build a more magnificent mansion for the in-dwelling of God.
I hope these descriptions of the Degrees of Freemasonry provides the readers with some food for introspection and I invite all Brothers to come to our Open Books each first Wednesday and third Monday of each month. To be a good and bright Mason a man must be of sound mind and retentive memory, but he must also be willing to study and learn the esoteric works of our Fraternity. Let’s keep building that spiritual mansion, for God to dwell within us. Fraternally, R:. H:. Hector Mirabile P.M. District Instructor 26th Masonic District

Hollywood 12
The Lazy days of summer have not been so lazy for Hollywood Rainbow Girls. The girls rallied together at Grand Assembly in June. We had so many successes. Sasha, assisted by Nyekia, gave a great memorial service to honor our loved ones, Alex, assisted by Abigail, delivered the Treasurer’s Report in a very unique way. Ansley Rae presided over a brand new ceremony initiating the new Mother Advisor’s in Florida, including our very own Mom Eli. Ansley Rae also acted as the Master of Ceremony for The Grand Cross of Color this year. Ariana sang her heart out with the best Grand Choir ever. Abigail and Nyekia took second and third place in their ritual competition. Three of our girls received their majority degree: Sasha, Klairissa and Rebec-ca. Our assembly took third place for the seat marker competition created by Abigail and Rebecca. We are also proud to announce Nyekia was appointed Grand Representative to New Jersey and Montana, and Ansley Rae will take a seat on the first ever Leadership Council in Florida. Way to Go Hollywood Girls!!
Our girls didn’t stop after Grand Assembly. They have been rounding out the finishing touches to Nyekia’s term as Worthy Advisor, attending service events, like the recent beach cleanups, and promoting the order to some new friends. We are so excited to have initiated three new girls on July 22nd. Please welcome to our Masonic family our long awaited pledge, Alysa, and friends of our rainbow girls,Kirlish, and Itzel. Thank you to all who assisted with our Initiation. We can’t wait to show our new sisters the ways of our Order and share our wonderful family with them.
We will soon have another Initiation to welcome more girls into Hollywood. So, if you know of another young lady interested in becoming a Rainbow Girl, please let us know quickly so we can make sure her application is processed in time for the next Initiation. We are a wonderful group of girls with a heart for service, and a mind for leadership. Please share your relatives and friends with us so we can pass on the wonderful ways of our Order and grow our Masonic family. You can contact Mom Eli, our New Mother Advisor at 786-484-5827 /[email protected], Terry Schenker, Grand Deputy- [email protected] /(954)804-1746, and Mom Ellen/Advisory Board Chair (954)830-1349. Please mail Hollywood Mail to Mom Terry: Order of Rainbow Hollywood, 4473 SW 50th St. Fort Lauderdale, Fl 33314.
Mark your calendars! You are all invited to our upcoming Installation of Officers on September 28th at 1 PM. We hope to see you there watching all of our new sisters get installed. Thank you District 26 for all you do for our girls!! We couldn’t be successful without you!

A message from our Hosting Worshipful Master!!!
Greetings My Brothers,
Welcome to Doric Lodge No 140 for this July meeting of the Masters & Wardens Meeting of the Mighty 26th District. I hope the hospitality you receive here at Doric Lodge represents the Brotherly Love and Affection we have with our family of brothers in this district. Please join us at our upcoming Stated Meetings which are held the First and Third Tuesdays of each month. We will be having a special Called Communication on Tuesday September 3rd, welcoming the brothers of North Star Lodge No 40 for a fun night of Fellowship with a Tropical Theme.
The Grand Masters' Official Visit to our district is close at hand. I can already feel the anticipation for the larger gathering of our brothers in the district, together with M.W. Grand Master John W. Westerman, the Grand Line officers and traveling party. Our R.W. DDGM Michael Tishman has been diligently preparing for a great evening of collation at the Broward Shrine Club with a closed meeting to follow at Eureka North Shore Lodge in Dania Beach.
We look forward to these gatherings for many reasons; but, significantly to remind us of the connection of brotherly love we share as Masons across the state of Florida. Look forward to seeing you there! Fraternally Ed Keating Worshipful Master Doric Lodge No. 140
