Editor’s Note

Omowunmi Akinnifesi is constantly re-inventing herself. The former beauty queen, environmentalist, entrepreneur and, now, fashion designer has since she won the MGBN in 2005, not allowed herself to be a has-been. There is always something new coming from the stable of Queen O.

This time, she has launched her eponymous label, Omowunmi, with a collection of classic wears that are both elegant and statuesque. A rather surprising, refined collection coming from a 29-year old, out-there young lady it turns out to be. I was expecting the bottom skimmers, belly button tops and ‘six inches’ plunging, spilling over necklines.

Omowunmi has shown that she is more than just a pretty face. The smart lass has read the times and knows when it’s time to move on. And, she delivered a classy, instead of trashy collection. Bravo!

As is my custom, I love to see focus and passion; these two always rub me the right away. Omowunmi makes our cover. Enjoy her transition into the creative world of fashion designing. It’s the fashion edition, March 2016.

The AMVCA, our version of the Oscars, was held at the weekend with very good ratings. Nollywood delivered in style and everything else in-between. We dedicate our fashion pages to the good, the bad and the reformed. See pp. 5-7.

Mr. Tex Egbedi is arguably one of the first to debut exclusively in men’s clothing. A rave in the 1980s and ‘90s, Tex shares with Jemi Ekunkunbor the rights and wrongs of changing trends in men’s clothing. I wouldn’t miss this if I were a guy! See p.12.

Enjoy our package. Have a great week!

It was a night of glory once again for Nigeria’s movie makers, with Stephanie Linus carting away the biggest awards for the night with her movie Dry, which won Best Overall movie in Africa, at the Africa Magic

Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCAs) 2016. The event which held last Saturday at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, as always, was one of splendour and entertainment as Africans gathered to celebrate the best in African cinema. For the second year running, Nigeria won most of the categories nominated for the night. Daniel K. Daniel took home the award for the Best Actor in a drama category for his role in A Soldier’s Story. Other big winners of the night were screen starlet, Adesua Etomi, who took home the prize of Best Actress in a Drama for her role in Falling, while Akin Omotosho won Best Director for the movie Tell me sweet something.

A visibly excited Kemi ‘Lala’ Akindoju, won the 2016 Trailblazer Awards, and was given a prize of an SUV from JAC Motors.

Highlight of the evening was the receiving of the 2016 Industry Merit Award by Nollywood legends; Sadiq Daba and Bukky Ajayi. An emotional Bukky Ajayi, received a standing ovation from the audience who acknowledged her contributions to African film and cinema spanning over 50 years.

The awards which has grown to become Africa’s Oscars, was organised by Africa Magic in association with MultiChoice and Amstel Malta.

The event, hosted by the brilliant duo of IK Osakioduwa and South African TV host, Minnie Dhlamini, featured excellent performances by artistes Flavour, Yemi Alade and Zonke, as well as brilliant comedic displays by Ugandan comic, Salvador and Thomas Gumede from South Africa.

The AMVCA 2016 began with exciting displays on the red carpet, eventually culminating in a spectacular night for African cinema and glamour. As expected the stars put their best foot forward on the red carpet with a number of celebrities living up to date, with bold bright colours leading the theme for the night. It was however surprising that some of our supposed red carpet favourites, missed it this year as they didn’t live up to expectations with nothing spectacular to show.

AMVCA:See Where They Are Now

Since the establishment of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCAs) four years ago, the novel African awards ceremony has taken on a large dimension becoming a benchmark for entertainments awards in the country. Every year, the stars file out in gorgeous dresses and some in not so eye-friendly outfits. Last year, we featured a few of those who made the worst dressed. This year, we checked them out to see if they have uped their game as far as dressing well is concerned. we can report that there has been a great improvement. Take a look.

The much publicised Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards have come and gone with a select few making it into the hall of shame.

By Jemi Ekunkunbor

Most awards ceremonies presents a platform for designers to showcase their creativity by putting their works on celebrities. You just missed the opportunity of being a walking advertisement for what you do.

You may be a comedian but the AMVCA is not a platform for clowning. It is a formal event and even if you do a business where you make people laugh, nothing stops you from conforming to standard dress code. If the Tux is not your thing, take a cue from Blossom Chukwujekwu who rocked the Akwa oche and wrapper and still looked good.

Last year, she made it to the best dressed at AMVCA. This year, the tide turned for the worst. This ankara two piece short suit with a train is not bad but this is the AMVCAs. And why choose this colour of hair? Trying to match hair with the fabric? Nah! Better luck next time.

The AMVCA is a formal event. Why come there to dishonour and show disrespect with his casual outfit? A pair of distressed jeans and ankara top? Next year, please call a stylist. Glamour is just a phone call away.

The shameless show of excessive flesh especially sensitive body parts does not make one fashionable. We have even seen boobs that are traveling south being exposed for all to see. This is trashy. You’ve been a good dresser in the past. Whoever put you in this dress, get her sacked!

There is so much going on with this dress that it is difficult to truly admire. The show of flesh is too much and smells cheap and trashy. Sheer can be better done. Better luck next year.

MBGN title and since then, she has engaged herself in contributing her quota to improving the world around her.

The Geography and Regional Planning graduate of the University of Lagos, also holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Modelling, Monitoring and Management from King’s College, London.

In this interview, she talks about life after MBGN, her foray into business and her current project.

OmOwunmi Akinnifesi- Defining Her Path

March 13, 2016 / 9

MBGN was over a decade ago, how was it winning at the time?

MBGN was an awesome experience. I always wanted to be a Miss Nigeria or get involved in some kind of pageant. However, those were just dreams I had as a little girl. I never knew they would become such a reality. Winning the pageant was a young girl’s fairy tale come true. I thank God for that.

You partook in the Miss World Pageant in China. How was the experience for you?

The Miss World experience was the experience. Having over 300 beautiful women from different parts of the world is nothing to take for granted. I met people who have become lifelong friends and who even stay over at my house when they are in Nigeria and I stay over at theirs when in their country. The miss world experience exposed me to various cultures and languages. It gave me international exposure. The owner of the Miss World pageant, Julia Morley, still recognises me in the weirdest of events even after so many years.

Was that your debut in the modelling industry? My debut in the modelling industry was MBGN.

However, because of my personality, I did more speaking engagements and ambassadorship than basic modelling.

What challenges did you face at the time and how did you overcome them?

Looking back now, the only challenge I faced was growing up fast. I was 18 years old and spoilt because of the kind of family I came from. My dad was a diplomat for West African clearing house Sierra Leone and a Yale graduate who was a Director at the CBN. I had to learn how to get on my feet and get things done myself.

What was your pet project at the time and were you able to accomplish it?

I concentrated on Tourism as my Pet project because I had won the Miss Tourism International after winning

The MBGN. I promoted Tourism in Nigeria, Ghana, Ukraine and Jordan alongside the Jordan Tourism Board. I also worked on Sickle cell as a project and visited many orphanage homes in the country at the time.

You recently launched the Omowunmi Clothing Line. Could you tell us a bit about it?

The Omowunmi clothing is a ready-to-wear brand for women with social lifestyle. About 70% of our garments can be worn from day to night. An Omowunmi woman is one who leaves her home on a busy day for the office or entrepreneurial duties and may have a conference, lunch with friends, a meeting at the office, dinner with friends or even a party after a long day. One outfit can be worn for many occasions and she doesn’t have to go home to change what she went out with in the morning. We have our first collection and would be releasing our second collection soon. We stock at various stores in the country. Our clothing can be found at the Polo Avenue for now.

What is the inspiration behind the line? The first collection consisted of clothing in pinks,

reds, blacks, and whites with inspiration gathered for city living hence, we called it ‘The Urban Movement: Define your own path’. Urban is anything fresh new and vibrant while constantly evolving and in ‘movement’. We wanted people to feel the vibe of the collection. Our campaign photos show girls jumping, happy and in movement, while still being playful. Some other photos showed serious minded women who are still trendy and urbane. We also included ‘Define your own path’ because we want women to be themselves and portray the strength in them. It is okay to be a family woman and still be busy, it’s okay to be an intellectual, it’s okay to have substance and it’s okay to be an Omowunmi woman.

Who is your focus market? Our focus market is for the woman with a social

lifestyle. A woman who knows who she is and is not afraid to walk the journey destined for her. For now, we target just women but we hope to do men’s line later.

Do you have mentors or women in the country you look up to?

Yes, I do. My Mum has supported me from the word-go. She listens to my whining when I have challenges and solves them for me. My mum is my backbone and my strength. She speaks positivity into my life and it is because of her I am where I am today. Mrs. Ibukun Awosika inspires me because she started in the business of fashion and is now the first female Chairman of First bank. I think that is a wonderful story. She is one of my mentors and I learn so much from her on being a woman of substance and strength in this unique market. Also, Mrs. Isioma Oniche Aihe of Grey Velvet hammers me on the finance part of my business. She was one of the people who encouraged me to go into the business of fashion and she had guided me through. It is very hard to see women support women. I can only thank God for sending such outstanding women to me.

You had your Master’s degree in Environmental Modelling, Monitoring and Management. Why did you choose this course of study?

I chose Environmental Modelling, Monitoring and Management because I was doing a lot of environmental Management projects at the time and it was all campaign and policy based. I wanted to learn the technical part of managing the environment. I wanted to learn GIS, Remote Sensing and Environmental Model.

How did you manage to get rid of the stalker who bothered you for years and what advice would you give someone in a similar situation as you?

I still wouldn’t say I have gotten rid of him because I still got a message from him weeks ago. This is something we tried reporting to the police. However, as I found out, such a matter in Nigeria is considered trivial. People don’t take it seriously till something happens to you physically. I advice people to be kind to others, but if you are in a leadership position, set limits so that people don’t feel like they have easy access to you and take that that accessibility for granted.

Sorry about losing your father? How are you coping with that?

Thank you very much. I’m okay now, thank you. His soul is resting in peace.

You participated in the “Celebrity takes 2 competition”, what was the experience like?

The Celebrity Takes 2 Competition was fun. I have never had so much fun on TV. I love to dance. Yes, I am actually a very good technical dancer. I am good at Salsa Chaha, Tango, Hip-hop and Contemporary dances. The competition was simply amazing. This was also when I got close to a lot of Celebrities with whom I shared stressful dance routines. I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

You launched a Public Relations and Modeling Company called, “Elle Poise”. How does it feel to be a business woman and how is it working out?

Being a businesswoman in Nigeria is challenging and also rewarding if you know your art well. I am thankful for opportunities. I started Elle Poise years ago and we are re branding the PR Company soon. PR is something that comes of second nature to me. After my reign as a Beauty Queen in 2005, I have been told that I am one of the most relevant queens till date. After my reign, I handled my PR myself and I must say I have done well with Gods grace. I only hope to help Companies and SMES build strong brands and maintain positive media presence overall.

What challenges have you encountered owning and running a business as a woman in Nigeria?

Running a business as a woman in Nigeria can be quite challenging. You are seen as weak and brash when you make tough decisions. It is sometimes even hard to have men work under you. It takes great people skills and leadership skills to lead as a woman running a business. Over all, I can’t complain. It’s what women all over the world face.

What does beauty mean to you?Beauty to me is a reflection of who you are from the

inside. The refection of who you are on the inside. If you have an ugly heart it will show in your speech and the things you say. Some people are not considered as good looking on the physical but are considered extremely beautiful because of the way they relate with others. Beauty is truly from within.

What is a day like in your life?A day in my life is busy. My friends tell me I never

stop working. I have a lot of energy and I am very young. So this I believe is my time to make hay while my youthful sun is shining. The bible says that you must sow your seeds during your youth. It also says that you must sow both day and night for you never know which will bring back rewards for your toil.

Are you single and should we expect wedding bells any time soon?

Yes, I am single.

You look radiant as ever. What is your beauty secret? My beauty secret is living a peaceful life without

keeping malice or grudges with people. Let us just say I sleep well at night with a peaceful mind. Like I said, beauty comes from within. I make sure I have a clear conscience so I can radiate grace in all my doings.

What advice would you give young women who aspire to be like you?

Young women should look within and decide what they want to do regardless of what anyone thinks about it. You cannot live your life based on what you think people would think about it. If you want to do fashion, then do fashion. People say it is a competitive market but still do it if it is your calling and stop pretending to be who you are not by studying medicine. Do what is in your heart to do and seek for mentors that can guide you. Ask many questions and never be shy to look stupid

You cannot live your life based on

what you think people would think about it.

Dear Joy!

Thank you for writing.

This diet would be ok if you were exercising 4 times a day 7 days a week. So you need to switch to a diet that includes:More fibre, fruits, nuts, vegetables and water (4-8 glasses a day) everyday. After 10 days you will see a difference. Because you’re young I would say exercise and play as much sports as you can badminton, tennis even table tennis or football are good sports also aerobics or jogging and simple exercises like taking long walks every day. Also cut down on the soft drinks 1 a day is fine. But you must drink water.

Hope this helpsBest wishes,

2. CELLULITE REDUCTIONAs the saying goes, “a grapefruit a day keeps the cellulite away!” According to the International Journal of Cosmetic Science, the primary way grapefruit can be used to reduce cellulite is through inhaling the vapor of the extract because it stimulates the nervous system by 250%. Additionally, we have found that other forms of grapefruit are beneficial.Fresh Grapefruit Juice: It has been reported that grapefruit contains significant levels of anti-inflammatory and skin cleansing agents including the enzyme bromelain, which is known to break down cellulite. To maximize the benefits of this cellulite burner, consider fasting 1 day per week drinking only freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and purified water. Not only will this habit give your digestive system a well-needed break, you’ll regularly burn off unsightly cellulite!Grapefruit Essential Oil Salve: Grapefruit essential oil should also be used topically in a carrier such as coconut or almond oil because it helps reduce cellulite and fat by detoxifying skin and increasing circulation. Add 10 drops of essential oil to 1 oz of pure coconut or almond oil and massage on skin where toning and firming is needed.3. IMMUNITY Being rich in Vitamin C, you’ll be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t agree that eating grapefruit is a healthy way to start your day. The red and pink varieties

are especially packed with bioflavonoid and provide you with an extra immunity boost! But did you know that Nigerian herbalists have been using an alcohol decoction of grapefruit seed to treat anemia and diabetes for centuries? The Nigerian Quarterly of Hospital Medicine published the first ever evaluation of this practice in 2008 and discovered that African folklore has deep roots in evidenced-based science. In addition to proving that oral treatments of methanol seed extract of Citrus paradisi Macfad (MECP) resulted in significant reductions in triglycerides and total cholesterol, the research revealed that fasting plasma glucose levels were reduced at levels comparable to metaformin (a commonly prescribed diabetes drug). The secret to reversing such a variety of risk factors for chronic disease could be the abundant supply of phytochemicals contained within MECP. According to the study, “Phytochemical result showed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, cardiac glycosides, tannins and saponin in varying concentrations. The biological effects recorded for the extract could be due to any or a combination of these phytochemical constituents.”4. GRAPEFRUIT FOR SKIN CLEANSINGIf you haven’t noticed, there are a variety of cosmetic and skin cleansing products on the market that have grapefruit in them. I tend to buy once I see grapefruit is an active ingredient. Grapefruit contains natural acids that cleanse the skin as well as vitamin C which acts as an antioxidant to protect the skin and quercitin which improves circulation.

Also, grapefruit is high in potassium which supports cellular cleansing and helps tighten and tone the skin.5. BRAIN FUNCTIONUncovering that it inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE) by up to 25%, the widespread effects of grapefruit essential oil on cognitive function are exemplified in a Japanese study published in the journal Natural Product Letters. AChE is an enzyme that breaks down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine and has been used extensively in medicine to treat the following disorders:• Alzheimer’s disease• Autism• Dementia• Glaucoma• Lucid dreaming• Myasthenia gravia• Parkinson’s disease• Postural tachycardia syndrome• SchizophreniaIt is interesting to note that most common side effects associated with taking ACE inhibitors for these conditions are related to gastrointestinal complaints and include loss of appetite and weight loss. This is where grapefruit essential oil stands a head above the rest! Can you imagine a medicine that helps restore neurocognitive function helps you lose weight and has relatively no side effects at all? It’s called grapefruit!

Don’t shoot the messenger just reporting. That is it for today my readers!

Dear Teri, I’m a 15yr old girl and I look really bigger than my age. If I came and told you I’m 20yrs old, you’d believe and I’m worried that I’m going to be really big when I grow up and at the same time, I don’t know if I’m too

young to start doing exercises. Plus I’m growing a big tummy too at such a young age.

If I’m not too small for exercises, what exercise do you recommended for me to slim down? I’m growing bigger and fatter rapidly.I also tend to drink lots of mineral in a day. I could drink 3 to 4 bottles of mineral in one day. Please could you also help me reconstruct my food timetable? IQShould men wear socks with traditional outfit?I am going to answer your question in such a sensible

way so that people can use their discretion to decide on how they want to dress. I don’t want to be so hard because one thing you must understand is that there is so much laxity in fashion-particularly men’s fashion. Today people wear burgundy blazers. When fashion was very conservative, nobody would touch that but today, people are wearing them and they are well worn, well received and well applauded.

To answer your question, here in the south, I don’t imagine anyone wearing the Urhobo or Itsekiri traditional outfit and wearing a lace up shoe or socks. That will be outrageous and even nauseating. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Then for the Yorubas of the south west, a lot of them have been so used to wearing their garments right. I give it to them because style has been with them. If you look at old pictures of somebody like late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, he was always well put together. They know that when they wear the agbada, they wear shoes without socks. Some of them especially the Moslem Yorubas now borrow from the north and wear mules. The Core Christian Yorubas wear slip-ons a lot, loafers, and Pam sandals.

In the south south, it is advisable to wear your traditional outfit with a pair of loafers without socks. And if you are wearing the senator suit, the loafers and monk strap will do. And you know this outfit has been elevated to the status of a universal outfit and those who wear it now, wants to wear it in expensive fabrics like the pin stripe. I wouldn’t expect anybody who takes his time to dress in such expensive outfit would want to diminish the look by wearing ordinary slippers! Your shoes are so strong in your total outlook. If you are going out to a serious wedding and you decide to wear slippers or sandals because you want to appear casual, it is acceptable but nowhere should your feet be seen tucked in socks!

Men are now popping colours with socks. Do you subscribe to it especially with formal suit?

You must accept the fact that boundaries have come

Famous Lagos clothier and creative head of the Texen brand, Mr. Tex Egbedi is one

of the old hands in clothing business in Nigeria. Dressing tastefully has always been a strong point for him. With the changing times and with the way trendy is pushing against the boundaries of classic, we sought his advice on how best to wear men’s clothes and accessories..

IQ

down and people are beginning to make adjustment. Now you are talking about being conservatively stylish. In the past, it was not allowed. If a guy is wearing red it has to be subtle. Age appropriateness is something I will like to drive in because my definition of a well- dressed man is someone who knows what to wear and when. If a guy belongs to a certain profession, whether at work or relaxing, he will have to stick to colours that are subtle. And it also applies to you as you get older and more mature. You see, it is expected that all these people who wear trendy things as they grow older, they will mature into wearing classic styles. It comes with age.

We are talking about timeless serious garments here. I always tell my house designers that for every colour, there is a feminine and masculine shade. Look at a colour like burgundy, burgundy today is no longer the fire red that it used to be. It’s something like cognac, deep red. When a guy wears this, it’s okay. With such colours, you can wear them with blue suits not necessarily light shades. Here in Texen, we know our clients and their psyche with regards to style. Many of them would not wear those loud colours. It has to be toned down.

The Changing Fashion Scene: An Expert’s View

What are the major classic colours for suits and how far can you stretch boundaries to accommodate trend?

You can allow versatility in colours more with blazers not suits; burgundy blazers, margarine blazers etc it all depends on how you are able to keep things together- the shirt, the trouser, the tie so that it can be an interesting and attractive mix when people look at you. Some people are naturally good at dressing well. Some others take time to seek advice when they come to shop. It takes a lot of courage and confidence for someone to say, teach me.

With suits, we are still hemmed in a lot to the basic colours of black, navy blue, midnight blue, brown, beige and grey but grey has several shades. I watched an award

ceremony recently and the compere had a red suit on. Frankly speaking, maybe because I am in the business, I admired him for breaking out of the convention of black and brown. But I also know that that such suit has a very short life span. But for that specific show, it was okay. I also met somebody at a dinner who wore a purple suit. I liked it under the night light but I’m afraid you wouldn’t want to wear that in the day time. So if you are going to stray out of these colours, you have to be very careful where you are wearing them to. They could be acceptable in some of these awards ceremonies, entertainment shows etc, but for a more sober show, business dinners, it might just be out of place.

Let’s look at bow ties, what are the rules of the game?

With bow ties, we have two different types, the self knot and the knotted bow ties. But a lot of people tell you they prefer knotting the tie themselves because it is swanker to know how to knot it. I agree with them because this

way, you get the size you want if you don’t want the tie to wear you. And today, makers of ties ought to know that the tie mustn’t stretch beyond the edges of your eyes. If you want to get your bow tie right, you also want to consider your

natural features; your neck height, your face, your chest etc. Some of these knotted bow ties don’t fit

everybody. It should hang down from around the edges of your eyes. And if you are able to knot your ties, I think people respect you. I get that kind of

respect. In sophisticated parties, cocktails, if you take off your

bow tie, it shows you are done for the day you get some kind of respect.

Bow tie is becoming a bold and respected trend in this country. I like it when I see the new generation wearing bow ties; people like OC Ukeje. For others bow ties have become their signature style; people like Mr. Biodun Shobanjo, Mr. Chris Ogbechie, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi etc.

What are the rules for shoes and belts? The first rule for shoes and belts is that they have to be

the same. There is no two ways about it. The textures can be different one can be leather and the other exotic skin but the colours must be the same. Also, we should know the kind of belt head to wear for suits. Belt with the big heads are not suitable for suits.

Secondly, you can’t wear belts and suspenders. You have to choose one. I get very upset when I see people dress that way. Whether you are a comedian or a governor, you should ask questions. It will build your knowledge base.

In the study, 30 overweight or obese women ate either an egg-based breakfast (2 eggs) or a cereal-based breakfast, containing the same amount of calories and almost identical levels of protein. The researchers recorded the women’s eating habits and found that just before lunch, the women who had eaten eggs for breakfast felt less hungry and ate a smaller lunch as a result. Better still, over the next 36 hours the group eating the egg-containing breakfast consumed, on average, 417 calories less than the cereal-eating group.

The Young African Woman - How to Build Wealth at Every Stage of Your Life

March is a special month for women. We celebrate Mother’s day and International Women’s day. During the month of March. we would be focusing on women building wealth at the different life stages. If you are not a woman, you can still read and share the knowledge with your wives, daughters, mothers, sisters, friends etc. You can also apply these principles in wealth creation.

I recently attended a seminar where one of the key speakers mentioned that there are three main categories that are forecasted to thrive and succeed in this season namely Youths, Africans and Women. It is therefore a good time to be a Young African Woman. In order to succeed as a Young African Woman and to ‘win’ in all areas of your life, you must be in control of your finances and build wealth. It is therefore important to understand the different stages of life i.e. the financial life cycle and how to build wealth at each stage.

I would start from the girl child, in order to ensure that we also empower our children, sisters, students, mentees etc. This is the most important stage because if you get it right at the stage, you are likely to be wealthy.

There are different theories on the number of stages in a financial life cycle, however, for simplicity; I have divided it into 5 phases or stages.

Stage 1: The African Girl ChildThis is typically between ages 0-12. At this stage we begin to understand the value of money i.e. N200 can buy more sweets than N100. We begin to have conversations like

POCKET CEFINANby - Omilola Oshikoya

Kid: “Mum why can’t we buy a bicycle? Mum: “Because we do not have enough money at the moment”. Kid: “But mum what about the money in my piggy bank, I have a lot of money in my piggy bank”. Mum: “Honey, N500 is not enough to buy a bicycle”.

Generally, we believe that money is to be used to buy junk food and also to buy toys. At this stage we receive pocket money.

Financially intelligent parents would begin to teach their children the basics of savings via a piggy bank or a kids’ account. They would also learn the concept of earning money by being paid for household chores as well as through mini businesses such as making and selling lemonade or bracelets etc.

I attended a conference where Ndidi Nwuneli was one of the speakers. She shared how when she was younger her parents paid her whenever she did her house hold chores and that is how she learnt the value of hard work and earning money.

My daughters started their first business at age 6 and 3. During their Christmas holiday, they made personalized bracelets from beads and also bracelets with virtues such as love, faith etc and sold them to their aunties, uncles and friends. Shortly after they received an order to make personalized bracelets for a birthday party. Within two weeks they made about N30, 000. I introduced the concept of a piggy bank and also taught them how to give as well.

WEIGHT LOSS RESOURCES SAYS…

This study suggests that eating eggs for breakfast makes you feel fuller for longer so that you eat less at your next few meals. This is great news if you’re trying to lose weight as it means you may find it easier to cut calories without feeling hungry. In fact, based on these results you could expect to lose up to 2lb a month, simply by eating eggs for breakfast!Eggs are packed with a variety of nutrients including protein, zinc, iron and vitamins A, D, E and B12, but contain just 85 calories each. Old advice to limit eggs to just a few each week has also been abandoned. According to the Food Standards Agency, there’s now no limit to the number of eggs you can eat in a week as part of a healthy balanced diet. If you fancy starting the day with eggs we suggest you avoid frying them and combine them with wholemeal toast and a glass of vitamin C-rich unsweetened orange juice, which will help the body make the best use of the iron in the eggs.

Red wine is one of the best pre-bedtime drugs one can take. Unlike other alcoholic drinks, red wine contains resveratrol, a compound which has been attributed to being a sleep aid. Here are some reasons you should drink wine before bed.

Studies have shown that drinking a glass of red wine before exercise, keeps you refreshed and feeling light. Red winE bolsters the heart and muscle health tremendously, but only before exercise.

2. A glass of wine before exercise Research has shown that red wine

contains compounds which aid in protecting the skin from sun damage and it also promotes skin firmness. But remember to always pace yourself.

5. You’re guzzling it to help your skin

The alcoholic content in red wine tends to lower the body temperature and according to studies, it also speeds up the release of certain

hormones and triggers metabolic changes that help you drift off to sleep.

1. A sip of wine before bed

Drinking multivitamins go a long way to boost the body’s metabolism but, drinking red wine does the same thing. Most people tend to opt for resveratrol supplements, but according to research, swallowing a resveratrol supplement doesn’t seem to offer the same benefits as drinking red wine. So drop the pills and pick up the glass.

4. Skip the multivitamins and sip wine

Consumption of red wine has its perks, but it’s advisable to do it sparingly. They say too much of everything is bad and this rule applies to everything including wine. So, keep it simple, a glass at dinner and one before bed, this will help lengthen your life span by more than a mile.
